  1. What does this have to do with the Blue Jays interest in Lawrie? Anyway... I'd hate to see a 20 year old who's mashing at AA moved for anything less than 6 years of a #2/3 starter. Marcum isn't close to enough.
  2. Now Russ, can we get a post on Unreasonable Expectations for the next 17 seasons?
  3. The advantage isn't for the lefty playing first. It's for the righty playing all 3 other positions in the IF. A lefty must spin around 180 degrees to throw the ball to first base from any spot on the IF. Because Gamel can be an above average defender at 3b and McGehee is a butcher there.
  4. It would be ridiculous for a company to expect you to come down there without even giving you a phone interview at first. Use your WI address. If/when they contact you express your interest in the company, tell them you'd welcome to a face to face interview after a phone interview, to be sure the company is the right fit for you, and you're the right fit for them.
  5. It may not be, but odds are hugely in favor of him being one of the best 8 bats on the team, and the team not having a better option at 1B.
  6. Up and down and up and down. What a game, Germany vs England. England just put the equalizer in the net, but the assistant missed it. Unbelievable.
  7. Every single time they played 5 midfielders they looked so much better than when they played with 2 strikers and 4 mids. I know such a subtle change shouldn't make such a difference, but this was the case all through qualifying, and all through the first 3 games of the World Cup, yet, for some reason, Bradley kept stubbornly sticking with the 4-4-2.
  8. Lee is a FA after this season, as is Lily, so that's a full 26M off the books for them heading into 2011. Obviously some guys will be getting Arby raises (Marmol, Theriot, Fontenot), but they have plenty of space to sign a big FA if they so choose.Cubs Payroll going forward
  9. Sadly, there will be no Junior Griffey appearance. Oh well. Maybe we can taunt their GM... about how he sucks at drafting pitchers.
  10. Really? Yeah, of course it's not a problem. He's only thrown the second most pitches in the league this year. He's being overworked, again.
  11. There is no chance the T-Wolves take Cousins as he refused to work out for them and has straight up told them he doesn't want to play for them. If the Nets take Johnson they will happily take Favors. You mean sort of like Ricky Rubio did last year? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. What? You're saying Macha might overwork the hot hand in the bullpen? It's not like he did that with Coffey, Villanueva, Hawkins and Vargas earlier this year.
  13. He's had no effect. None. We have 5 different pitchers than on opening day, and the worst ones are not getting the majority of innings anymore. Catcher ERA is a horrible stat, unless you're talking 200 innings with the same pitcher.
  14. Really? Every indication is that Minnesota will draft Wesley Johnson or Derrick Favors. Whatever the T'Wolves do, I'm sure they'll find a way to screw it up. Anyway, I would love it if the Bucks got Love.It looks like Cousins will fall to them, with the Nyets taking Johnson. I don't have a real source for the rumor, really. Just heard that the T-Wolves were looking to move one of their two PF's, perhaps to aquire a second first round pick.
  15. I really see the Bucks making another move. Perhaps trying to pry Kevin Love (or maybe even Al Jefferson) away from Minnesota. As the T-Wolves look to be drafting DeMarcus Cousins. Who knows if they can pull something like that off, but I'd love to see it. As for Maggette, it boils down to a 15M deal over 3 years, they actually save 1.5 million this year, which may be used to sign Ridnour. His stats on GSW are very inflated, due to 1) them not having much scoring options and 2) him being a very inefficient scorer -- some guys just shouldn't shoot 3's. He's one of them. I'd imagine him sliding in and providing 12-15ppg for the Bucks, which is great, especially if he can keep grabbing 5 boards a game.
  16. Even though the camera's didn't catch it. What a throw by Howard.
  17. I can't say I've been there. Haven't been to Lee's yet either. What kind of place are you looking for? I'm sure the BF.netters can come up with suggestions!
  18. Detroit, Jacksonville and Oakland all had games blacked out due to non sellouts last year in the NFL. The NFL teams make a tiny, tiny percentage of thier money from home game attendance. They make most of it from the NFL's TV deal. Comparing that to baseball, where the Brewers pulled in over 1/3rd of their gross revenue last year from gate reciepts is astounding. The fact that, even with drawing 3 million fans, the Yankees pulled in 5 times as much from the gate as the Brewers is ridiculous.
  19. The best thing about Skiles is, he'll have no qualms about benching a guy if he doesn't buy in. Shocked the Bucks got another 2nd rounder. Simply awesome. Team gets younger with a shot at pulling someone else who might stick in the draft. Maggette can be a good piece, if he buys into the offense, and doesn't shoot 3's. This can slide Delfino away from playing the 3, and into playing more 2-guard which seems like his more natural position.
  20. Coming out of the bullpen, I'd have to have Jump Around - House of Pain... it's the only song I could imagine energizing the crowd. We've gotta get Axford something better than the Offspring to come in to -- not that Offspring is bad, they just don't get the crowd going. Although... it would be hard not to use for an AB song...
  21. This isn't high school. These guys are getting paid millions of dollars to do their job, and if they're bored and decide not to pay attention what exactly can the manager do? Macha isn't going to bench Braun because he doesn't want to try to get better out in LF. Because, despite being told 1,000 times, I'm sure, that he needs to get behind a fly ball and have his momentum coming inwards to make a solid throw to the plate... he'll camp under it and catch it flat footed, then start moving forward....as he did on Saturday night, when he hit the runner. Amazing how much better his next throw was on the single he had to come in for.
  22. Yes, but the team is out of it, and if he has any value he needs to be moved. All he's doing right now is playing horrible defense in CF and taking AB's away from Gomez.
  23. Whoa, I love red ales & IPAs. Thanks for the tip, Baldkin. Got my hands on a seasonal scotch ale from the Great Dane. It's good... nothing amazing. Sorry, but I can't remember the name http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gifAs far as I know, Fixed Gear is only sold in the 22 oz bottles, so you'll have to hunt and peck through those to find it http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  24. The whole pitching staff does. I don't think I've seen more than half of 0-2, 1-2, or 2-2 pitches close to the plate this year. Most are a foot outside or bounce a foot short.
  25. This is a 2am posting in the beer thread, and even though I didn't drink it tonight, and I'm totally sober.... Fixed Gear by Lakefront came out phenomenal. It's a red ale/IPA cross and it's my new favorite beer.
