  1. Eckersley won both awards in 1992 as did Rollie in '81.
  2. It was a good time last night, although a little chilly. Aside from the sound issues (the movies were being played WAY too quietly -- with my boom box's speakers at full volume, we could barely hear either one, where as at 25% volume, people 50 feet away could hear Uecker when we listened to the game before hand). There were more people there than I expected, although about half the people left after The Sandlot was over -- combination of kids, cold, and sleepiness I'd imagine.
  3. Anyone know if this is going to still happen, even with the bad weather tonight?
  4. Just looked it up and Helton just got his 2000th hit, and he is the 7th one. Teletalalada got all 4 of the other 6 in his initial list of 6, and the other 2 in his remaining listing. Helton Manny Vlad Pudge Rodriguez Jeter ARod Chipper Jones
  5. He's not asking what players got their number retired for multiple teams... He's asking what teams retired the same number for multiple players. My new stump-your-friends trivia question: 6 hitters in MLB that are active, with 2,000 career hits and a .300 batting average.
  6. Now you send me off scurrying for this thread at sportsbubbler...
  7. If I remember correctly, they auctioned them off and donated the proceeds to charity, much like they have for the past two opening days. Obviously, I could be totally wrong on that one, though.
  8. It sounds like your boot sector is corrupted, but without seeing it, its tough to say for sure. You could try to reinstall windows without reformatting or doing the windows repair option if you have a repair disc.... depending on what your PC/discs situation is. If you got a pre-packaged software/PC bundle a lot of them won't allow you to do either, they'll just wipe the drive clean and go from there.
  9. For half a year of Carlos Lee, and an OF who was never going to play in Milwaukee, we got Coco Cordero for a year and a half... pretty good deal if you ask me.
  10. He's been hot the last couple weeks... Nelson Cruz #17 RF 2009 STATS BA HR RBI OBP SLG .296 14 36 .360 .592 for a .952 OPS thus far.
  11. Every single team who just missed out on the playoffs would've paid him 21 million last year in retrospect. Most notably the Yankees and Mets.
  12. They got his enterance right tonight. They didn't announce his name until he was almost done warming up. Miller Park was rockin, and Trevor Hoffman is our newest rockstar.
  13. The ghost of Nippy Jones comes back and haunts the Brewers in Minneapolis.
  14. http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=18834 Already a whole thread on replacing Weeks.
  15. If you listened to the play, the ball clearly hit the bottom of the bat, your hand doesn't make that sound when its hit by a ball. It hit the bottom of his hand as well, but the ump orginally called it a foul ball, and then reversed his decision and put Mauer on first base.... and remember, "All of America would be sad if Joe Mauer would've been hurt." Yes. All of America. Yep. I turned off ESPN after that line was said.
  16. Dave Cameron summed up my thoughts pretty well on Peavy over at fangraphs. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/peavy-to-the-white-sox/
  17. Petco has made Peavy look legendary, outside of Petco he's been above average, but by no means great. It would be a shame to overpay for him, even if he is an upgrade over our starters.
  18. 2 guards who can shoot are a dime a dozen in the league, same as swing men who can slash and score. Redd may be above average, but he's no where near on the level of the elite 2-guards in the league -- of which there are 2, Kobe and D-Wade, imho. Yes, Redd can flat out score, you just don't pay pure scorers max money and build around them. He needs to compliment someone else. Reggie Miller never won a title. Ray Allen didn't until he got put into a defensive juggernaut along side KG and PP in Boston. I don't hate Redd, I think he's an amazing player and a heck of a guy off the court, the problem is he's paid too much for what he brings to the table, and the contract will hamper the Bucks from bringing in what they need. They were a playoff team this year without all the injuries... but is building to win one game in the first round of the playoffs really what you want the franchise to do?
  19. Why the heck are we wasting our second best bullpen arm in an 8-0 game?
  20. Should be around and available Saturday AM.
  21. Sadly I can't make it tonight (for real this time). This should be the last game I miss.
  22. Its been awhile, and baseball is kind of goofy about its rules, but if I remember right, if a pitch is thrown to a batter after you bat out of order, your at bat is considered valid. So, batting order written in the lineup book is: Counsell, Hardy, Braun, Fielder So, Braun leads off the game with a double, then JJ walks on 4 pitches, the opposing team asks for a ruling as Prince steps up, knowing Braun should hit after JJ. Since JJ hit in the correct spot, Braun is then due up 3rd so it would be his spot in the order while he's on base. Yes... I was a huge rules geek back in the day.
  23. Building around an oft injured "superstar" that can't create his own shot and doesn't play defense isn't ever going to win in the NBA. Its too bad the Bucks haven't gotten the memo on that one yet.
  24. I do believe it was Willie McGee. But I could be wrong.
  25. The thing is, he still makes really poor judgement on some balls sometimes. Diving and missing a ball by a few feet instead of inches against the Cubs. Obviously, that will all come with time, and his situational awareness needs to improve as well.A two out single doesn't hurt nearly as bad as a missed dive turned into a double or triple. These are things he'll need to have drilled in his head, when to take the chance, and when not to. Hopefully it will come with time. He's better than he was, and hopefully he keeps on improving.
