  1. It will never cease to amaze me how people use the anonymity of the internet to say things they never would to someone's face. Unbelievable. I thought this board was civil up until these two threads.
  2. There's no way he'll hit as well as Braun did, so please don't expect that... only one rookie in the last 30 years hit as well as Braun did and that was Pujols. Hopefully his defense (a bit better)+offense (a bit worse) will be somewhat close to a wash, but not many guys transition to MLB hitting the way Braun did.
  3. Whatever you want to do is fine, but if someone has to ask you to leave the seat, just leave. Don't pretend that "Oh, I didn't know" and make the other people go get an usher blocking MY view of the game for another 10 minutes.
  4. Honestly, if the ball he hit to the wall in Cincinnati goes an extra 3 feet for a game tying 9th inning HR.... I can't imagine he's gone.
  5. Only, the guy who caught it was a grounds keeper and an employee of the Cardinals. Not some guy in the stands.
  6. They really need to not-announce his name before they play Hells Bells. They should just play it, then say "Now Pitching, number 51, Trevor Hoffman" as he's done warming up on the field.
  7. Just curious as to why this thread isn't locked yet, with people making blatant personal attacks on a BF.netter and posting ridiculous speculations without any basis or factual information. If I were to start posting about "What a looser soandso is for collecting autographs" in a thread, I'd probably get banned.... and not just for the terrible spelling.
  8. Look back, even 20 years ago. You've always had freakish athletes who could play 9,000 innings in a row and not have any problems. You could have guys go on 3 days rest for a month and not have problems.... but the number of guys who blew their arms out, who suffered major injuries, or who had a "dead arm" after 3 or 4 years was much higher than today... and the number of 34 year old guys who can play like that is even fewer. The great ones did it, and that's what made them great. You never hear about the ones who didn't. Like, say, Cal Eldred, who was overworked and overused his first three years in the league and was never close to the same pitcher afterwards.
  9. I won't be able to make the game this week. Sorry Jamie! I'll be back in prime form next week, though.
  10. So we picked up another LHB that can't hit lefties for our bench? Hooray? I guess? I feel bad for Brad Nelson. Had that ball gone an extra 4 feet in Cincinnati he probably wouldn't have been signed.
  11. We replaced Gange with Hoffman, which has to be considered a major upgrade as well.
  12. Ned DH'd Tony Gwynn, Jr in Boston. Tony Gwynn, Jr. DH. The second part of that is HITTER. He let Jason Kendall catch both ends of a double header. He platooned two starting pitchers, after one of them had finally found his arm slot and was pitching very well -- he had a 3.65 ERA in June and had given up 1 run in his first 2 starts (both 8 innings, mind you) in July. What do you do with that? Oh yeah, send him to the bullpen so he doesn't pitch for 16 days. Macha will make head scratching moves from time to time, every manager does. The thing Yost never seemed to understand was there's a difference between a good decision and a good result.
  13. Why is it so hard for people to sit in their own seats at Brewers games? You pay for a ticket, you sit in that seat. I mean, c'mon people. For 3 hours on Saturday night, I was standing up and sitting down while people got kicked out of our row or the row in front of us 4 different times. Of course, then there's the 5 minute "Oh, buuut... I have a ticket" Yeah, your ticket says row 14, WHY WOULD THAT BE THE FRONT ROW? Sadly, half the time they were Brewers fans. This is happening more and more this year and it just irks me.
  14. You mean Reds? Cuz, I mean... what'd Coop do to you?
  15. Every team has a team doctor, every team has a team pharmacist as well..... these people are PAID to know what the players can and cannot take and can and cannot use. If the player chooses to go away from those people to get drugs or any form of medicine they deserve whatever suspension they get. "I did it on accident" isn't a valid excuse when you're given every opportunity by your team to NOT DO SOMETHING ACCIDENTALLY. That's like saying "I didn't mean to drive my car off that cliff" even though you drove past 15 signs saying "SLOW DOWN" and "CLIFF AHEAD" and you went 110mph around the curve anyway.
  16. Had she torn her ACL trying to leg out a double they wouldn't have carried her to second base. They would've tagged her out.
  17. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Solly's in Milwaukee. You may feel your arteries clogging while you eat it, but man oh man, does it taste good.
  18. I just want to thank the San Francisco Giants, for out bidding us on Dave Roberts, which eventually led to Cameron coming to Milwaukee. And thank you, Mr Cashman, you famed "Genius Yankees GM" for not calling Doug back and trying to jerk Doug around in the Melky for Mike deal.
  19. I've always loved this one myself: http://www.allposters.com/gallery.asp?aid=1804218632&apnum=837026™=68659&DestType=7&Referrer%20=http://www.framedartposters.net/sports/c67747-milwaukee-county-stadium.html
  20. So, wait, let me get this right, in order to stop the bean ball wars, we need to bean people preemptively so that they won't bean our guys.... this means they won't retaliate and bean us back afterwords because we aren't afraid to bean them again? What?
  21. The bus system in Milwaukee is pretty darn good, you get a free bus pass going to UWM. Around campus is pretty safe, although there have been late night robberies (probably averaging one per month) over the last couple years. I can't speak on "which dorm is best"-- there really isn't one. A dorm is a dorm, in my opinion. The Union is nice, the Klotchke center is awesome, if you like to lift/run/work out, especially in the winter time. As for sports journalism, I'd keep your options open -- its a dying breed these days -- but, you should be able to find most of the information you want here
  22. So, if batting order matters so much, why move a guy who's absolutely KILLING the ball out of the spot where he's doing just that? And if this supposed "Hitting in front of Braun and Fielder means you see more pitches to hit" thing were so true, Corey wouldn't have an OBP 100 points over his BA.
  23. No, because by the scorer's judgement, had he thrown to first, he would've gotten Rickie out.
  24. HBP has its own 'category' the same sense that a walk is different from a single. I've never heard IBB being seperated from normal BB on a hitter's OBP or anything like that.
  25. Pretty sure I'll be in the lot with a buddy (or three) on Sunday... probably Saturday as well. You're welcome to stop by if you'd like!
