  1. I get the Wall of Honor...but an official retirement thing? What on earth....? He didn’t even amass 10 WAR in his career and never had any type of award. Yikes This franchise has a habit of celebrating mediocrity. I guess that's really all they have to celebrate but still. Gosh darn celebrating mediocrity. Barely 20 WAR player retiring for a franchise he only played 7 years for. https://www.espn.com/blog/new-york/yankees/post/_/id/60982/hideki-matsui-retires-as-a-new-york-yankee
  2. I wanted to take a look at this, and sorted by wrc+ and also by wOBA wRC+ : 2011 Ryan Braun 171 2019 Christian Yelich 170 2018 Christian Yelich 166 1987 Paul Molitor 165 1979 Sixto Lezcano 165 1982 Robin Yount 164 2009 Prince Fielder 161 2011 Prince Fielder 160 2012 Ryan Braun 159 1978 Larry Hisle 156 wOBA: -------- 2019 Christian Yelich .437 1987 Paul Molitor .433 1979 Sixto Lezcano .428 2011 Ryan Braun .426 2009 Prince Fielder .422 2018 Christian Yelich .422 2007 Prince Fielder .419 1982 Robin Yount .415 2012 Ryan Braun .413 2011 Prince Fielder .410
  3. One of my all time personal favorite Brewers. And his legend is captured best over here: viewtopic.php?f=82&t=6633
  4. Serious Eats and Sous Vide Everything have a ton of recipes out there. Also, be sure you put hot pads beneath whatever vessel you use to sous vide, the extended heat can cause problems on some countertops/tables
  5. We just got a Sous Vide Cooker as a wedding gift. Any recipe recommendations? Tons! I love doing a big pork loin in sections with whatever rub I choose then slicing and cooking chops at high heat to get a good sear on them. This chicken shawarma recipe is amazing: (and you don't even need skewers) Chicken thighs (with any seasoning) for 3 hours at 167 are divine. Pork Carnitas tacos: https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2017/01/sous-vide-carnitas-crispy-mexican-style-pulled-pork-recipe.html I did 165 for 18 hours. Was amazing. Finished it with a large skillet, cooking to order for the people that were there. If you want an amazing little snack, char siu pork belly is incredible. About 2" wide strips, get some Lee Kum Kee Char Siu sauce, slather it on before hand. 175 for 6 to 8 hours, then slice into bite sized pieces and finish on the grill.
  6. 25 games left, if he plays in all of them and keeps up his current HR pace (per game played), he'll hit 9 more homers. and set the single season HR record for the Brewers. He'd also steal 5 more bases and give himself a 50/30 season.
  7. Addiction is a disease. It's a disease that lays dormant in people until the right conditions are meant, and then a switch flips. What you said is similar to saying "I don't know how people can just get skin cancer. I've never had skin cancer, and I don't plan on getting it and I spend lots of time in the sun." https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMra1511480
  8. If Knebel and Wahl come back healthy they are probably in. Black and Faria are out of options so one or both have to be kept or the Brewers lose them. Brewers probably keep at least one other lefty (Pomeranz or Claudio) to go with Hadar. Suter as one long man and Guerra (if re-signed), or Lyles, Anderson, Houser, Nelson, (possible long shots Burnes or Peralta) which ever one doesn't start, as the other long man. Throw in D. Williams (if he can find another pitch) and possibly Albers and that doesn't leave much room for Jeffress. Hader. It's spelled H-A-D-E-R.
  9. Counsell talked about this with Uke during the pregame a few days ago. I'm paraphrasing here, but CC said that Woodruff would start, but they'd stretch him out as they went, the expanded rosters in September giving them that luxury.
  10. There would be NO reason to call-up Freitas just to sit the bench. Do you actually believe if the Brewers thought he could help he would still be in the minors? With Grandal catching and Pina doing well as the backup, Freitas would be a 3rd catcher and play very little if at all. The Brewers believe that it's better to leave Freitas in the minors and playing than sitting the bench in the big leagues. IF Grandal or Pina got hurt, of course Freitas or Nottingham would be brought up. How bout a .530 hitter vs LHP That plays 1B to finally get Grandal some rest? Our lineup vs LHP gets stronger with Freitas in the lineup. That’s 3 good reasons to get him up ASAP. Stearns not getting him up earlier has been my #1 complaint on this front office this year. I know he didn’t want to lose Pina, but, imo, as bad as this team was all year vs LHP, he should have made room, maybe keeping Perez down.
  11. Grandal. Moustakas. Hiura. Woodruff. Albers. Yelich. Lyles. Hauser. Gio. Davies. Claudio. Guerra. You consider these players as overachieving? I would say that Woodruff has been somewhat overachieving, but I figured one of Burnes/Peralta/Woodruff would be at least this good. Lyles just got here and Houser too small a sample size. Grandal, Moose, Claudio, Hiura, Albers and Davies are about what I expected. Yelich is having his career year. Guerra has been bad. Grandal has a 116 OPS+ and has an OBP 25 points higher than any season. Moose is having his best year ever. You expected Alex Claudio to have a 117 ERA+? To have a sub .600 OPS against lefties? Guerra hasn't been bad. 70 innings at a 117 ERA+ isn't bad. In fact it's damn good. Davies has a 121 ERA+. You expected him to be 21% better than a league average pitcher? As the Brewers #5 starter? His next best season he posted a 112.
  12. Grandal. Moustakas. Hiura. Woodruff. Albers. Yelich. Lyles. Hauser. Gio. Davies. Claudio. Guerra.
  13. Macha was perfectly fine as a manager. There was nothing he was going to do to win more with Braden Looper, Yovani Gallardo and Randy Wolf topping the rotation. The fact that they won 80 and 77 games over his two seasons is incredible.
  14. Why? Who's better? He manages very satistically and puts his players in the best position to succeed. 1 player in 4 years has complained about the organization and how they've handled them (Tyler Cravy) Clearly he's doing something right. Throwing a tantrum like a 12 year old while trying to show up the umpire is not how you win them over. So, you think there's something there even though there isn't any evidence of it. You say players can't play well if they get yanked around, right after complaining that he isn't using the bullpen properly (which by your own words) would include yanking guys around. You know who he didn't yank around all season? Cain, Arcia and Shaw. They all have been terrible. He didn't yank around Burnes or Peralta going into the season, and they both completely bombed. In Craig I trust.
  15. Click on the name. Click add foe. Just assume any posts are exactly the same and ignore them. Makes life much more pleasant around here.
  16. Yep. Counsell has been here for 4.5 years, and one player that I can recall said anything bad about him/management publicly (Tyler Cravy). He's been amazingly supportive and gotten buy in from guys, even if their roles got reduced or they were platooning.
  17. I enjoyed this article.... can't believe it's been 25 years. https://sports.yahoo.com/august-11-1994-scenes-from-a-lost-season-042806980.html
  18. Inflation and investment. $1 today is worth less than 10 years ago, less than 20 years ago. $1,000 invested today, even at a low guaranteed 2%, is over $1200 in 10 years. Money, money, money.
  19. All this talk about 50/30 reminds me of a childhood favorite, Eric Davis, and just how close he was to being a 30/80 guy and a 40/60 guy in 86 and 87. He just couldn't stay healthy. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/daviser01.shtml
  20. 3. Maybe 4.
  21. When the NL average is about 4.8 runs per game, it's not surprising that 5 runs per game is the breaking point of winning and losing games. You also left out the fact that they've only had 24 games without a home run. So they are 9-15 in those games. Not bad, all things considered.
