  1. The Pujols beaning incident aside, Yost gets remembered in a lot worse light here than he probably should be. I realize there were some baffling bullpen decisions -- he was here for what, 6 years? That's a 1,000 game stretch. I'd be willing to bet that anyone who manages 9,000+ innings is bound to make a few decisions that look like head scratchers to most folks. http://www.hardballtimes.com/yost-infection/ Lets just say, it was more than a few.
  2. To be fair, 1/3 of the seats at Wrigley, you can't see a fly ball once it goes more than 30 feet in the air.
  3. FIRST PLACE ON SEPTEMBER FIRST! HECK YEAH! GO BREWERS!
  4. @Haudricourt: Jonathan Broxton will join #Brewers Monday in Chicago. No need for player move because rosters can be expanded beyond 25 players. Don't the Brewers have to make a move to allow him onto the post season roster?
  5. Since June 1st, he's hit .259 .314 .416 .731 That's not good.
  6. In middle school it became "cool" for girls to randomly knee guys in the nuts. Yep. In front of teachers this happened, and no one ever got punished. Until one of my friends immediately hurled all over a girl who did this to him.... from the pain. He got suspended for 2 days from school. Lets just say his parents hired a lawyer the next day.
  7. I don't understand how he's not out there. He's in fair territory and HE RUNS INTO THE GUY WITH THE BALL. He's out. Now, if he runs into foul territory (where he's supposed to be) and runs into the 1B, there may be something there. I mean, that's like calling obstruction on a 1B who fields a bunt then tags the runner.
  8. Clearly true, but there is no reason to charge me the second third of the money until the end of the season. Theoretically, it might not be known if they make the playoffs until Sept 28th anyway.
  9. So, I'll admit, I'm a little irked by the way this is handled. I am fronting 1/3 of my total cost to guarantee my seat. Okay, fine. Once they clinch a playoff birth (ie: Wildcard, ONE GAME, MAYBE NOT EVEN AT HOME) I have to pay ANOTHER 1/3 of the cost. This part really bothers me. I didn't even look when the last 1/3 is due. Fronting $500 per seat (bleachers!) to perhaps watch them lose a road wild card game? ugh.
  10. No. Does not matter. The magic number for HALF a playoff birth.
  11. ~4M for a future first round pick. It's not the player, it is the future asset.
  12. The only time I can recall a home team being boo'd for hitting a walk off. Molitor was on deck when the winning run was scored.
  13. Tim Lincecum demoted to the bullpen. Wow. Just.... wow.

  15. Yep. Good for them. It's also wasted hundreds of thousands of gallons of clean water and huge amounts of energy. Considering the current state of drought in our country: http://www.drought.gov/drought/content/products-current-drought-and-monitoring-drought-indicators/us-drought-monitor Or the world wide lack of clean water: http://water.org/water-crisis/water-facts/water/ You want to donate money, donate money. You want to shame your friends into donating money, go ahead and post on facebook about how you donated money to charity. You want to show yourself dumping water on your head to avoid donating money to charity, well... yeah.
  16. Where are your seats?
  17. The wastefulness of this stupid ice bucket challenge.

  19. Maybe I'm crazy, but I still think Terrace Box seats are the best deal in the park. $25ish bucks each and you get a great view of the games, and you're in the first 4 rows so people's movements don't bother you nearly as much.
  20. http://www.milwaukeebraves.info/images/covers/si081654.jpg One of my favorite trivia facts of all-time. (Who was on the first cover of SI?)
  21. This It's not hating on Scooter to simply state the facts about how he's fared against lefthanded pitchers both through his minor league career and so far in the majors. The numbers are bad on both fronts, but he's been great vs righties. FWIW, he's far from alone in this. Plenty of major league hitters over the years for whatever reason have struggled a lot when facing righties or lefties and thus for the betterment of their team, using a platoon was a smarter option than having that player go out there and make a ton of outs. And embracing this fact is one of the major reasons the A's are so darn good out in Oakland.
  22. 1) Admit that the baseball was changed and that PEDs have almost no effect on baseball 2) Remove anyone who was suspected of ever taking a currently banned substance from the hall of fame, including greenies, steroids, testosteroneor any other thing and have a panel of 200 re-vote on each individual player. 3) Have replay handled like college football. No stupid challenges, no arguments. A guy in the booth, buzz the ump, 60 seconds to decide if it's correct, if it can't be determined, play stands. 4) Enforce rule 8.04: 5) More revenue sharing. If the Yankees and Dodgers complain, they can form their own league.
  23. I think so. http://newhope360.com/site-files/newhope360.com/files/imagecache/galleryformatter_slide_penton/gallery_images/conagra-canola-oil.jpg
  24. Two things: 1) You can pre-order parking passes with your tickets for weekend games (get general and they are $8 or $9, and almost always easier to get out of than preferred. and 2) There is almost always parking on Wisconsin Ave or Wells just to the north of the stadium, you walk down past the Molitor lot (or under I94 by the Mitchell St Exit) to get to the ballpark.
