  1. Nope, he is not. He is one of the best players in the league when he is driving the ball to center and right center and showing some patience like he did last year and the first few months of this year. He is currently swinging himself into the ground at everything and showing zero eye at the plate. Since June 1st his OPS has fallen .116 and his slug has dropped from .572 to .492 during that time. Not buying that. He was swinging himself out of his shoes every month of this season and last. He plays the game one way, looks like a world beater when it works and a fool when it doesn't, but you know day in and day out what his approach will be. His BB% has gone from 6.7% in the first half to 3.8% in the second half (8.4% in April/May!!) His K% has jumped from 22.2 to 29.8%. His OBP has gone from .370 to .286. He's clearly changed his approach.
  2. The Brewers also have an amazingly fast team. I'd wager the only position they have that has below average speed is 3B, this will help them in those statistics.
  3. I'd say that's a good call. Tris Speaker was pretty good. Also, Jimmie Foxx. I'd take this guy over Ortiz too: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/12/17/manny_ramirez.jpg
  4. If he had Mono, he wouldn't have been 25 lbs overweight. http://www.si.com/extra-mustard/2014/03/25/rudy-gay-pretty-much-called-o-j-mayo-fat Numerous opposing announcers said the same thing about him too.
  5. He also hasn't put the ball in play on a 3-0 count this year, or last year, totaling 17 PA's. Braun just doesn't swing 3-0 very often.
  6. The guy was self medicating so he could deal with an undiagnosed medical condition which our crack medical staff never bothered to test him for. Can we stop with the stupid 5th grade pot jokes now?
  7. The more I see of Giannis, the less I see of Durant, other than having the same body type. His court vision and ability to run the break remind me a bit of young LeBron or Magic in that sense. He covers so much ground and is so quick. If Kidd lets them get out and run more this year, this team could be a LOT of fun to watch, even if they lose a lot of games. Wolters is the kind of guy who will thrive with better players and a more structured offense. You can see how much better he looks when he isn't surrounded by guys just trying to "get theirs" on the court.
  8. Was at the game, three things: 1) Big props to the Event Services guy who let Scooter get his triple by getting in Halliday's way. 2) 6-0 victory percentage: Ridiculous. http://www.fangraphs.com/livewins.aspx?date=2014-07-11&team=Brewers&dh=0&season=2014 3) I had my Uecker nesting dolls at my tailgate today, to get rid of the bad mojo. I'm burning Cardinals Uke in effigy tomorrow morning.
  9. Yeah, this is how you leverage your salary cap space as a team that isn't a free agent destination. Instead of signing overpaid middle-tier players like Mayo, Zaza and Delfino, you take on a bad contract, and get assets as well as a result.
  10. Bo Knows.... All Star Games Then, immediately following that half inning, with Bo leading off with a 450 foot home run, this commercial debuted:
  11. http://twitpic.com/show/thumb/605ixm.gif Good riddance.
  12. He was on the radio the other day, said he touched 95 on the gun, and is still building up to that velocity.
  13. Yes. Yes it is. Once you get to more than two lanes, it's too hard to remember that the slower traffic drives on the right.
  14. Thank you, Jim. You made me smile today.
  15. because jeffress is not currently on a 40-man roster, he is subject to discipline should he test positive for marijuana, and one more positive test would mean a lifetime ban. to his credit, he's been in the brewers' organization on a minor league contract for nearly three months and hasn't tested positive for marijuana during that time (to our knowledge). The reason Jeffress smoked (epilepsy) has been diagnosed and he is now on actual & correct medication and no longer self medicating with marijuana. http://www.thestar.com/sports/bluejays/2013/09/06/blue_jays_jeremy_jeffress_turns_corner_after_epilepsy_diagnosis.html
  16. I meant they wouldn't be taking on any more. As in, there's no way they'd do that trade.
  17. Wow. Just. Wow.
  18. Ennis is making nothing. If Phoenix matches, Phoenix won't be taking on any salary.
  19. Because it's a rare confluence of events that will make Bledsoe even available. Phoenix thinking they have a shot at Bosh or LeBron, Bledsoe being a backup behind Chris Paul for 2 years, and the Bucks having enough cap space to take on Bledsoe's contract. Banking that in the future, someone will 1) fit our team, 2) be under 25, 3) want to sign a long term deal with Milwaukee and 4) that whomever we pick next year will be better than Bledsoe seems like too much to me. Last year was a perfect storm of events. Caron Butler, Gary Neal, Larry Sander's injuries, Larry Drew thinking that Caron Butler and Gary Neal were good defensive subsitutions late in games, Brandon Knight playing point guard, Ersan being hurt all year, Zaza playing way, way, way too much, etc, etc. It just won't happen again.
  20. It's rather difficult to hit a 95 MPH fastball exactly how you want to. If it was that easy, guys would hit a bit better than they do. You don't need to hit it exactly where you want to, you need to hit the ball within 50% of all valid directions. Its really just an extension of bunting, according to you it would be rather difficult to bunt a 95 MPH fastball, but its not and even pitchers can do it. It is that easy but guys would hit worse because you sacrifice power for the control, guys would hit many more weak balls and slugging would be non existent It's. Not. Easy. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-truth-about-bunting/
  21. Schafer didn't have to go. Does everyone realize if Schafer stays the inning just goes 2B, 6-3, K, 6-3 and no run. Schafer's baserunning had nothing to do with not scoring there. The problem is that 1) Lucroy should not be trying for a hit and should have bunted or grounded to the right side. 2) Then Gomez should not have tried for a hit and just lofted the ball into the OF or squeezed. Both players should have choked up and not taken full swings, just slapped at the ball. They would rather retire than do this. It's rather difficult to hit a 95 MPH fastball exactly how you want to. If it was that easy, guys would hit a bit better than they do.
  22. Do you really trust Gomez to get the run in there? I sure don't. You let your best hitter hit in that situation.
  23. Are you kidding me with this idiotic baserunning crap? STILL?
