  1. -49 run differential blah blah...still disappointing when you're 1 out of the wild card in late July with the longest playoff drought in MLB. And the return for Graveman is disappointing at best. Why????
  2. Are Texas and Oklahoma fans happy about potentially joining the ACC? Do Texas A&M fans like losing to Alabama every year? Texas is pretty awful at football, I guess maybe going to the SEC would help with recruiting? And Oklahoma has rode some questionable teams to an 0-4 record in the playoff semifinal thanks to a relatively soft schedule in the Big 12. As a Big Ten fan I look forward to these teams beating each other up in the regular season, although I'm sure all of this is being done under the assumption that more than 4 teams will be in the playoff by the time 2025 rolls around.
  3. It's all about football TV ratings. Rutgers was delivering strong ratings and an upward trajectory prior to joining the Big Ten, but I think it would be fair to say that neither Rutgers nor Maryland has delivered the desired boost to the conference. If they had to do it again I don't think either would have been added. I can only imagine what the Big Ten athletic directors are saying to the prospect of further diluting the revenue pool Kansas and Iowa State. It's gotta be a firm NO.
  4. I find it unlikely that the Big Ten would benefit from scooping up the remains of the Big 12. There are no other schools worth adding.
  5. I thought the Suns also made a nice adjustment in game 6 to try and cut off Giannis' passing lanes when he was trying to dish it out to the perimeter. It lead to a number of turnovers in the first half. But the problem was that the help defenders can't guard Giannis and the perimeter shooters at the same time, so the Suns' were left with the 'hack-a-Giannis' approach when he just took it himself to the rim. It might have worked if Giannis had a 50% FT shooting night, but the Suns were in danger of having all their big men foul out by the 4th quarter. Seeing how Giannis responded to that adjustment is one of the reasons why he probably isn't done winning rings...
  6. I would be more upset if we lost with our TOR starters. Kind of bummed to not get the split today though.
  7. Brewers are currently 13/1, Packers 17/1, Bucks 8/1. Hard to complain about that, with those odds statistically we have a 26% chance of bringing home another trophy in the next year. The Bucks have proven they can do it so that's the obvious pick. But it would be a real treat to get the Brewers to the World Series this fall and it's the first time they have a starting rotation capable of winning a best-of-7 postseason series.
  8. The good news is that there will be a fresh crop of veterans looking to sign 1-year deals to win a championship with Giannis. I don't want to discount what guys like Tucker and Portis have done, but they are replaceable. DDV is a nice young talent who had an exceptional year. The Nets' series would have been entirely different with Donte around and a healthy Kyrie. Who knows how it will play out next year but it would certainly be competitive on paper.
  9. I'm sure the Bucks/Nets will meet again next year and it will be just as interesting as this year. There will be a different combination of role players and injuries. There is a lot of talent in the western conference but I think many of those teams are 2-3 years behind the Bucks in terms of figuring out the right combination of coaching and supporting talent to go with their young star. To me the crazy thing is how short the offseason is, especially with the guys going to the Olympics immediately. There's a good chance of a championship hangover in the fall.
  10. Championship Woah Solvdd
  11. Coach Bud to Giannis: “We did it” Giannis: “We’re gonna do it again”
  12. Giannis isn’t going to let the Bucks lose, is he?
  13. 5 points is nothing, especially after that quarter
  14. My biggest concern about this game is that Giannis is going to be so jacked up that he will be useless on offense until the second half. My second biggest concern is that the NBA is going to referee like they want a game 7. My third biggest concern is that some "Wisconsin sports curse" ghost will appear out of nowhere, I'm glad this game isn't at the Bradley Center because I'm pretty sure a rusted piece of roof would fall on Giannis or something. Otherwise I agree with everything OldSchoolSnapper has written...the Suns are going to have to hit contested shots to win and hope the Bucks' shooters have the heebie-jeebies. It reminds me so much of 2019 Bucks/Raptors where we were on the other side of a 2-0 lead. The Bucks have their winning formula figured out and it would take a miracle for the Suns to come up with an answer. Then you throw in the Bucks' experience closing out series, success at home, track record of closing out series, etc. etc.
  15. Yeah, just checking in to vent about the dumbest out call in baseball. Safe zone above the bag! YES they need to change the rule, if you beat the tag you're safe unless your entire body slides past the bag. But this is MLB so instead they will probably make some other rule change that nobody asked for.
  16. Is second place in this division cursed? I guess it’s about time for the Cardinals to have another go at it.
  17. It would be the most Wisconsin thing ever to lose this series in 7 games. Just sayin' I was thinking it, but trying to not to say it to give the basketball gods an idea. Everybody's thinking it. They couldn't possibly have more momentum right now and they have two games to close it out, plus a strong track record of closing out the three playoff series that got them to this point. What could go wrong?
  18. Yup, all of the people I knew street parked. Parking garages are usually much safer, though I recall some people in St Louis told me, unless they have good security, garages can sometimes be worse. Garages are a bunch of cars and don't have people constantly driving by or walking by. Police also can't really watch them either. Haven't decided how I want to get to Miller Park for the World Series...but I have a few months. A year where the Packers making the NFC championship is the worst outcome of our three major league sports teams? Or (pessimist's take) a year where the Brewers winning their division is the worst outcome...
  19. I went to ECSF game 6 and was initially unwilling to pay $40 for parking but decided to do it anyway after circling for street parking. On the walk into the arena I heard the sound of glass breaking and turned my head to see a guy across the street with his hand through a car window. I just kind of looked at him and he said "I did't do nothing" which made me laugh out loud. We kept walking and a minute or two later a cop car had pulled up and the guy started running from the cops...these cops were built for desk work so they chased the guy one direction but he wanted to go the other way so he just ran a big circle around them and took off in the other direction. After that I didn't feel so bad about paying $40 for parking. Anyway, it's unfortunate that Milwaukee doesn't have any rapid public transportation to downtown but that's par for the course in small cities. If I was in Milwaukee I would probably park a bit west and hop on a bus for the last mile or two into downtown. Also, is this the most significant sporting event in Milwaukee history? It has to be up there...1974 NBA finals game 7 might be the last event of this significance. Edit: semifinals game 6 vs. Brooklyn, I already forgot we played Atlanta after that.
  20. The Brewers need to make sure they (1) win their division; and (2) win less games than the NL West winner.
  21. Similar to game 4…can the Suns make the comeback at home? Seems like Giannis wants the ball every possessing right now.
