  1. And a bonus HR against a position player! 6-for-6 3 HR 2 SB 2 2B 10 RBI (!!!)
  2. There is a dangerous desire in sports to extrapolate recent trends ("momentum") indefinitely into the future. Twins are currently struggling and the Tigers are as hot as the sun, but that means little to nothing about what will happen next. My rule of thumb for comebacks is that going from long odds to a tie means you've made it halfway there. The Twins still are statistically 1 game up due to tiebreaks, so the odds are still 60/40 in their favor. If the Tigers get it to 50/50, then they have successfully gotten "halfway" from <1% to 100%. The fun part about the final week of the MLB season, however, is that you can easily gain 20% in a day with the right set of results.
  3. Too bad I don't gamble!
  4. My preseason predictions are often wrong, but I'm gonna take my victory lap here 🥳
  5. There are better ways to clinch, but then again, clinching on a Cubs loss is becoming a bit of a tradition around here.
  6. The main thing that worries me about this wildcard format is getting caught off-guard by a hot opponent who has already been playing must win games prior to the series. Seeing the Mets in the last series would play to our advantage I think. We're also fairly familiar with the D'backs and we can win a slugfest series. The Braves look dead right now, but if they do make the WC it means they probably figured it out and I wouldn't want to cross paths with them. Ideally I don't want us to do any significant resting/benching of key players, so I hope we're still fighting for the bye up to game 162. Get the rotation aligned and give the key players a game off, but that's all we should do. There's a day off prior to the WC series at at least one and potentially two days off prior to the DS. That's enough rest.
  7. His walk-up song immediately popped into my head. I refuse to even mention the name of that ear worm. If you know, you know.
  8. If you want an EV on a budget right now the best option is a used Model Y. Or the Hyundai Kona if buying new.
  9. I'm a huge fan of bunting in the postseason. We've seen a number of infielders crack under the pressure in those scenarios and it has turned series around before.
  10. The CFP snub may have killed that program.
  11. Time to go do something else.
  12. They look well prepared for this game and have a good plan. But the backup QB is going to be too big of a hurdle.
  13. This is painful to watch. Locke has no hope.
  14. Does air raid mean we completely forgot to do everything we used to be good at?
  15. At least the fans get to have a bit of fun for a while. Would be entertaining to get more points now.
  16. The fact that he blew his knee prior to contact is not good. This Locke guy looks like he can fling it though, maybe he’ll settle down and connect on a few.
  17. Too bad, that was looking promising. I guess we’ll see Van Dyke next year.
  18. If Alabama loses this game it will be a few more decades before another SEC team dares to come to Camp Randall. I’d love to see bad things happen to Kalen DeBoer but I think Alabama takes it 35-13.
  19. The spirit of Hank the dog must have made the ball slippery
  20. The Cards clearly ran out of black devil magic. How did that come out of the glove?
  21. Because the Cubs made a run in August, they couldn't get away with dumping salary to get under the luxury tax threshold, but they will still most likely miss the playoff anyway. Just fantastic.
  22. It only takes 2 teams being seriously interested for him to get paid.
  23. These games have an impressive number of commercial breaks. I turned it off after the WMU touchdown, watched a full inning of an MLB game, came back and only 1:30 of game time had elapsed.
  24. That was a nice W to snag, just enough luck and skill to do the trick. Not sure what the Reds were thinking allowing a run to score with Williams coming in to pitch, but the gift is appreciated.
  25. The Cubs still have 1.0% odds of winning the NL Central...I was getter pretty nervous when they had that up to like 1.3% the other day.
