  1. I had two takeaways from last year: 1. The road teams outperformed the home teams in the wild card round. 2. The wild card round winners had the advantage in the division series because of the momentum they carried over from winning a playoff series. This year is shaping up to be a little different but we know at least one lower seed is advancing already.
  2. Hahaha. A few weeks ago I was at an Angels-Mariners game where Brett Phillips was facing Andres Muñoz in a high leverage situation. I think it ended up being like an 8 or 9 pitch at-bat that was all 101 mph fastballs. Phillips knew what was coming and still didn't come close to squaring one up.
  3. Looks like no roster move. More Winker on the way.
  4. Personally I think Rowdy is the obvious choice but I recognize that everyone is going to have their opinion on who to pick off the ol' scrap heap for the last roster spot. Certainly he was the most likely of the "26th man" options to take Ginkel deep in that situation yesterday.
  5. I think we win today. The BABIP gods will shine down on us today.
  6. There's no doubt in my mind that parking lot usage is down significantly. I was in Wisconsin at the end of August and drove by during the Saturday night game against San Diego that was nearly sold out and the parking lots looked similar to those photos above. Maybe for Cubs games it is higher, I don't know, but it used to be a common thing for the lots to completely fill up, requiring them to park cars along the road to squeeze everybody in. Even the last time I was there in 2018 for the NLCS I wasn't able to purchase parking because I bought tickets at the last second and the lots were sold out. I'm sure the calculation for the Brewers is pretty straightforward -- they make more money by charging more and it's also better for traffic and the environment.
  7. Back in the day these lots would normally be full for a crowd of 40,000, but I noticed when I was in Milwaukee earlier this summer that the lots don't fill up as much as they did 10 or 15 years ago. I'm guessing Uber/Lyft is what changed???
  8. Win this one and give us a repeat of 2011 tomorrow.
  9. I feel like I’m a fairly optimistic fan and yet I’m completely unsurprised by this result.
  10. And Devin is now unavailable for the elimination game tomorrow. Unreal.
  11. The combination of bad luck and dumb outs on the bases might be too much to overcome. Going to have to get the best of Sewald, who was pretty bad in the postseason last year.
  12. I appreciate that Marlins Man chose us over the actual Marlins.
  13. Royce Lewis hasn't played in 2 weeks and is 2/2 with 2 HR today. So maybe the Brewers are on to something...
  14. Twins look good early -- it's easy to cheer against the Blue Jays but I'm pulling extra hard for @Brock Beauchamp to finally see that playoff losing streak end.
  15. I know we're going to have some empty seats tonight but this crowd at Tropicana Field is really small for a playoff game. Maybe we shouldn't be doing playoff games on a weekday afternoon while school is in session?
  16. If we win this series, I think we ride the momentum to a deep postseason run. If we lose this series, the Counsell era is going to largely be remembered for regular season success and postseason failure.
  17. As long as we don't 4D chess our way into another Mark Kotsay in CF moment.
  18. And the thing about FA $/WAR is that you really can't calculate it on a 1-year basis because you are knowingly buying out low production years at the end of the contract. So those 2023 FA $/WAR numbers for the Rangers are probably the best that they will ever be over the life of those 7+ year contracts.
  19. Did we bring him back too soon? We didn't need him to win the division.
  20. Given the latest news... Dbacks in 3 Phillies in 3 Jays in 2 Rays in 3
