  1. D'backs go deep !! 4-4 now.
  2. SWEET !!!!
  3. There is no excuse to not be airing every game for the rest of the season. Get to work FSN.
  4. From JS ONLINE . . . When the Brewers were in Washington back on July 6-8, Ray King stopped and visited with reporters in front of the Brewers dugout and hinted he'd love to get dealt to the Brewers, who were way out in front of the NL Central at the time. King suggested reporters bring his name up to Brewers GM Doug Melvin. I passed that conversation along to Melvin at some point after the all-star break. He kind of laughed it off. Not so any more. King came to the Brewers Tuesday in a trade with the Nationals for a player to be named, and he's glad to be here. Although he's not playoff eligible, he figures it wasn't as though he was playoff eligible in Washington, as the Nationals are going nowhere. But he'd sure love to help make the Brewers playoff eligible. "I tell everybody I owe it to this organization for giving me my opportunity," King said. "I came over here in 2000 and Davey Lopes pretty much gave me my opportunity to pitch and it kind of got me going. It's fun, great city, I love the people here and the organization was good to me and I lived here year-round. So the situation's fun and to be able to come back now, I can't put it into words."
  5. Let's review what our idiot manager did tonight. . . 1) He let's Mench start ahead of Dillon. That's stupid. Dillon is a much better hitter. 2) Twice he doesn't pinch hit for Mench against a righty. It's ridiculous. 3) He bunts with Hardy even though this team stinks at situational hitting and can't be counted on to execute. Why waste an out? 4) He lets Capuano stay in too long instead of letting him leave with some success and confidence. 5) He sits on his butt while Corey Hart gets called out on a HORRIBLE pitch that was two feet outside. How about arguing and showing you care? And no, this is not hindsight. I was screaming at my TV all night. This manager just really needs to go away for good
  6. I think the players should blame themselves and their manager.
  7. What are your thoughts on Seth McClung so far? He seems to have a nice power arm. I wonder if he might be counted on more in key situations down the stretch?
  8. Any chance that Tom Kelly might want to come out of retirement?
  9. Emotionally driven? This team has been in a slide for a very long time now. Since you love stats, take a look at the numbers since the All-Star break. Look at the records of the opponents who have kicked our butts. Look at our road record. Look at the standings and how far we have dropped. The stats aren't emotionally driven. They tell a bad story about this team.
  10. There were some rumblings that Wickman complained too much about having to pitch in non-save situations. I guess his teammates didn't seem to appreciate it.
  11. Fried cheese curds? Cheese fries? Brats? Maybe the Brewers should open a stand where you can get an angioplasty. It would be nice to keep the fan base alive. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. Too bad for the Rangers it only counts as one win and not five wins. But at least their expected Pythagorean record will take a huge leap http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. I feel really bad for Cappy because he has always been a class act. But maybe he might have more success if he only has to pitch a few innings. He seems to lose it after a while.
  14. I am just joking here . . . what if Vargas were to intentionally walk the first two hitters of every inning. Then he can start his usual Houdini act and it would take him fewer pitches to get through each inning. He only seems to do well when he is in trouble so why burn his arm on the first few hitters who will probably reach base anyway. Heck, he might be able to pitch a complete game shutout instead of going only 5 innings.
  15. If Gallardo or Parra threw 130 pitches, I'd shut the site down. Yeah. those are the "extreme circumstances" provision that I was referring to. Certainly you have to protect the young arms. I am thinking if the someone like Vargas or Suppan had to make it through 7 innings, they wouldn't nibble as much and maybe might become more economical. Again, it's a different mindset when you have to make it happen.
  16. What if Ned Yost (or his replacement) were to suddenly declare that every starter will now be required to go 7 innings no matter what the score is and no matter what their pitch count is. Do you think it might help? It doesn't seem like the current system is working anyway, so maybe it's time for something drastic. I am getting tired of burning four relievers a game night after night. I am sick and tired of losing too. Here are some positives . . . 1) It might force pitchers to become more economical and give up fewer walks. The mindset would be different if you knew you had to go through seven innings. 2) It would rest the bullpen so that if we did get some quaility starts, the bullpen might actually be strong enough to hold some of the leads for a change. Here are some negatives . . . 1) We might get some blowout losses. But truthfully, we are losing now anyway so what difference will the score make. At least a rested bullpen might help us win more later. 2) Concern about injury due to high pitch counts. I suppose there would have to be some provision to remove a pitcher under extreme circumstances, but pitchers would have to learn to be responsible to pitch effectively to keep themselves healthy. I don't know if this would help, but I am just trying to think of something to change things. The losing is getting awful now.
  17. This is like the movie Groundhog Day . . . Hit some homeruns, get out to a big lead. Starting pitcher falls apart in the 6th inning Bullpen struggles Can't get a clutch single when you need it Brewers lose to a bad team. Same thing the next day.
  18. It looks like Harang is starting to find his sinker again. The ball seems to be breaking more and the strikeouts are beginning
  19. His royal highness does it again !!
  20. Typical Brewers game . . . The starter can't even pitch 6 full innings. We get a bunch of solo homeruns and absolutely nothing else when there are runners on base and it matters. The bullpen coughs up a few extra runs that put the game way out of reach. THIS CRAP IS GETTING SO OLD.
  21. The Diamondbacks are now 16 games over .500. In the mean time, our Brewers have now fallen to just 3 games over .500 despite playing in a much worse division. I don't understand this. Daron Sutton kept saying that the D'Backs were at least a year behind us in terms of rebuilding and player development. But why are we failing so miserably and why are they running away with their division? The kind of success they are having was supposed to happen here instead. What is it that we haven't figured out like they have? (added tag --1992)
  22. Hart is playing his first full seaon and is doing a fine job. I say let him play.
  23. I don't even know where to begin . . . This team still can't win on the road. This team still can't do anything at the plate besides homeruns This team always melts down in the second half This team always chokes with runners in scoring position This team still has trouble hitting to the opposite field This team still stinks at PNC Park despite playing lousy Pirates teams This team regulary blows huge leads This team always shuts down after some early scoring This team never bunts when the other pitcher is mowing them down This team never does any hit and run plays This team still strikes out a lot and fails to execute The entire pitching staff decides to fall apart all at the same time The bench is completely worthless Joe Dillon is still not getting starts even though he makes contact and hits the other way. Despite an MVP season from Fielder, this team is barely over .500 Despite adding a monster hitter like Ryan Braun, this team is actually getting worse Johnny Estrada can't throw anyone out Johnny Estrada can't beat anything out Johnny Estrada can't draw walks Kevin Mench has no speed, power, batting average, arm, or ability to draw walks Ben Sheets is hurt again Chris Capuano has had 15 consecutive losing start Claudio Vargas can only go five innings Jeff Suppan can only go five innings and makes 42 million dollars Carlos Villanueva and Matt Wise have completely lost it We play in the most awful division in baseball and still we can't pull away. It's been 25 years and still no playoffs I am getting a headache. Goodnight. By the way . . . . what time is the game tomorrow?
  24. As long as we are all venting, why is Bill Hall getting a free ride? He has suddenly become really boring this season. He hits so many lazy fly balls now. It's getting really dull.
