  1. Don't forget we save a few million when Corey Koskie's contract comes off the books.
  2. I don't know if it's the 8th spot or whether it's just that we were playing against Houston. Hardy really seems to hit the Astros well. Let's see what happens against some other opponents.
  3. I should also mention that the Cubs seemed to take off after they traded Michael Barrett. Coincidence?
  4. We just witnessed another pitching meltdown today. I am starting to wonder if Johnny Estrada might be part of the problem. Is he handling the staff well enough? I am not saying he is or he isn't, but it's time to at least ask the question and start looking at things more closely. I know he has been traded and given up on a lot in the past. I also know that he never throws out runners. His lack of speed is also starting to hurt us on the basepaths. Finally, he isn't very patient at the plate either. Is it time to let Damian Miller start 5or 6 games in a row just to see what happens? I feel bad singling out Estrada, but I am so sick of losing and we really need to look at everything and ask some tough questions now.. Thoughts? (added tags --1992)
  5. So now do the Giants fold as a franchise? What else do they have to look forward to? Other than Tim Lincecum, their entire roster is old and I don't think they have much of a farm system.
  6. I hate the 6th inning. Our pitchers always fall apart.
  7. Nice job Astros !! Now the Brewers have to step up.
  8. I am pretty sure that if Sheets were in the rotation and Gallardo was available in the bullpen, we probably don't blow some of those big leads recently. Gallardo has done great in the rotation, but now the bullpen is a mess. It seems like every year when Sheets goes down, there is such a huge ripple effect on this the pitching staff. It goes beyond the starters.
  9. That was such a cute commercial. It just breaks my heart that Prince and his dad are no longer close like that anymore. And I also hope that people stay away from those triple cheeseburgers they were advertising. Those can't be good for your health.
  10. Another loss on the road. It's getting alarming. This team has shown no ability to play on the road and sustain any kind of success. Maybe the Brewers should hire a second manager who will only manage during road trips. Ned Yost can manage during home games only. Why not? I don't know what else to say. This just isn't working.
  11. I am having a tough time figuring out what is going on with J.J. Hardy. He seems to hit a lot of balls hard but too many of them are outs. It's good that he is making contact, but they aren't falling in enough. I also noticed that he almost always seems behind in the count. I think he is too content to take a strike. I would like to see him swing at the first pitch more often. Lots of times it's right down the middle and he lets it go and then gets behind eventually. I am not a professional hitting coach but maybe he needs to make some changes. Does anyone else have any ideas? (added tag --1992)
  12. Interesting excerpt from an AP article . . . . Helms made sure of it in the 11th, as the former Brewer silenced the booing fans. "That is just the nature of this city," said Helms, who played in Milwaukee from 2003 to 2005. "They do it to every player that comes back that used to play here. "I think fans don't realize that actually pumps a player up, and it makes me want to beat them." While I do think there is some truth to this, does Helms understand that he showed up to spring training completely out of shape after Doug Melvin gave him a two-year contract? There is a reason he gets booed. Edited title and tags - b19 Consolidated tags -1992
  13. The only thing I miss about County Stadium are the bleachers. Other than that, there is absolutely NOTHING that I miss about County Stadium. The ballpark was a worthless dump, and it was an embarrassment for this community. It's gonna rain tonight, and I am thankful we have a roof now. I have tickets, and it will be nice to keep dry.
  14. As much as it sickens me, I do think the Cubs are a big story right now. I can understand the media coverage considering that they just climbed up so many games in the standings and are also one of the hottest teams in baseball. When the Brewers were the hot story, we got a lot of media coverage too. I am just more mad that the Brewers let such a huge lead slide away.
  15. Alright, I give up. I can't stand the suspense anymore. I wish one of the players would just go ahead and leak the details to the press. It's time for one of those "speaking on the condition of anonymity" articles. I am just dying to know why the argument happened. It's driving me crazy.
  16. Bill Michaels just said on WTMJ that one of the players told him "We aren't waiting for Ned Yost, we are going to have to win this thing ourselves". I guess that statement could be interpreted in a number of ways. but it was interesting.
  17. I saw the replay on DVR and I thought Yost was going at it with Graffanino instead of Estrada. Estrada actually looked like he was trying to hold Yost back. Yost seemed to be looking at Graffanino mostly. I saw Bill Hall run towards Ned at the last second of the video clip. I am not sure why. Maybe he was upset, or maybe he was just trying to help the others control Yost.
  18. It's about time something like this happened to wake up this team. I don't even know what happened and I have no idea what they argued about. But I already like it. Thank god.
  19. I would prefer to watch the national broadcast just because it's always nice to hear what others are saying and thinking about us. Plus the production quality is far superior.
  20. My apologies to the fan forum. I can't handle the pressure of a pennant race. I need therapy. This team drives me crazy.
  21. I am so sick of the incompetence of this offense. Twice we have the bases loaded with less than two out and fail to score. We also screw up the bunt twice in the same innings and a double play ends the rally. The whole night, the Mets kept trying to walk us and we kept swinging at their garbage. Thanks to the incompetence of our hitters, our bullpen is being shreaded away playing extra innings. It's going to hurt us in the long run. Bring back Vina, Loretta, Cirillo, Seitzer, etc. Those guys were professionals who had a clue at the plate.
  22. I thought we were done with the "gritty battler" era of Brewers baseball. I am more interested in actual results now. They don't really keep standings for who hustles the most and plays the hardest. It's all about production now. When was the last time Rickie Weeks drove in a run? I am sure he has done it a few times lately, but it's sad when you can't remember and you have to think hard. EDIT: I can actually recall Yovani Gallardo getting more big hits than Weeks lately.
  23. Gwynn actually gets basehits once in a while. Weeks doesn't.
  24. Whenever we start losing, I always lose sleep thinking about moves that could be made. So here comes another edition . . . I am personally ready to see Rickie Weeks get sent back to Triple A. He is starting to approach Chad Moeller status in terms of his hitting ability (or lack of it). I just hate that he seems like an automatic out and that you can't count on him to execute because he might strikeout. On a related note, maybe the Brewers need to move Bill Hall to second base. I have a theory that one of the reasons Hall's offense has declined is because playing in the outfield results in more wear and tear on the legs. You have to run around a lot more (including going back and forth from the dugout). I just think he might be a little gassed out there and his legs might not be conditioned for it. If you put Tony Gwynn in center, he can at least hit about .260 and put the bat on the ball more often in key situations. I also love his defense in centerfield. I also think Gwynn has a better makeup for a number 8 hitter in the lineup.
