  1. The models do not have a "devil magic" adjustment factor for the Brewers.
  2. Not exactly sure where to put this video, but the optimism thread seems most fitting. Skip ahead to the Brewers discussion (if you wish) and buckle up for 14 minutes of Brewers love. Jack's perspective is really interesting considering he saw them first hand as the Broadcaster for the Marlins. Its a great time to be a Brewers fan!
  3. I'm not completely sold on Bauers long term. Happy to receive the benefits of Bauers best year this year, but I think its likely that he regresses in his early 30s. Dont want to pay full price for a guy for multiple years with a poor track record. Particularly with a stocked minor league system with corner infielders banging on the door. Vaughn and Adams next year with Burke and Fischer in AAA ready to get called up.
  4. Joey O taking advantage of the opportunity at 3b. Not really anyone banging on the door in AAA, so lets keep going with the hot hand.
  5. Need to give some Joey O love after today. 3-3 today with a 2b and 3B to bring his season OPS up to .662. His OPS the last 30 games is now 830. I'm perfectly happy if he can just maintain this performance with his sparkling defense. If he stays hot, thats just gravy.
  6. Explains all the cutters, which was infuriating me last night. Glad to hear his short night was not injury related.
  7. McCullers control was pretty poor in this inning. Lots of non-competitive pitches. Do the Brewers give him another inning?
  8. If Ortiz can get back to 700 OPS this year, is that 3b Woah Solvd?
  9. Never let Ortiz play SS again. We cannot afford the drop in production
  10. Why would you throw three straight cutters to Ewing? Vaughn should have got that but he did hit it hard. They cant touch the fastball, dont slow it down for him.
  11. Yeah, I'd wait until Fischer is out of the lineup for a few days (while signing the contract). Until then, this is just trolling.
  12. I struggle to put any of the recent draft picks in the top 20. This org is too deep. That could change quickly once/if they start getting some playing time this year.
  13. Aram of Just Baseball recently said that he would take the Brewers Biloxi team over many teams entire minor league systems. The Brewers have some serious depth.
  14. How was I not surprised when Contreras hit that. I've come to expect this type of performance from them.
  15. The only thing that makes sense is the Brewers did not believe in Leonard's defense. He is not a SS, so maybe that's why they traded for Shewmake. The Greg Jones callup was just odd though.
  16. Pretty sure if he does that, he forfeits the rest of his salary. That is a lot of cash to give up. They can always work out a deal. But I would not put it past Woodruff to do something like that. Maybe he goes into coaching right away.
  17. Trey wins family bragging rights at $2.8M vs Brady's $2.75M. Take that Brady. Though with inflation, I think he can throw plenty of that back in his face. Both did well for themselves. Christmas with the Ebel's with be fun this year.
  18. For the Brewers, 2023 - we did not sign our 17-19 picks. So they signed 18 players, including the comp pick. Otherwise, it has been between 4 and 6 unsigned players since 2021.
  19. They definitely are close to the full 165 man stateside limit, but that is not unusual. Unfortunately, this is the time of the year where they do some releases to make room. With the depth in the system, it could be that they have more talent already in the system than available via UDFA. Also could be the Brewers may be signing most of their recent draftees. We usually hear by now a few players that "won't sign". I see some difficult signs but its all of them seem to have a chance of being signed. Money may prevent that but we shall see.
  20. This is such a Brewersy trade. It's buy low on two major league ready pitchers. One with extreme injury concerns and one that screams AAAA pitcher. They are relying on their pitching lab to turns these guys into productive pitchers. I would give up Jadyn and $2M for that chance.
  21. The 2018 draft was arguably the best in the last 25 years. Though 2005 with Braun and Brantley resulted in higher career WAR. Braun's long career and Brantley partially bringing in Sabathia is hard to beat. But 2018 is still accumulating more value. I'd have to say this should be a A grade. Some of the more recent drafts will be in competition but too early to judge yet.
  22. I would think Carson, Bell, and Maiorana will be the toughest to sign. I'm hoping they can sign the four college guys and at least sign three of the high schoolers.
  23. CC's son Carsten rounds out the 20th pick. Nice story. It would be fun to see a Fielder and a Sabathia in a Brewers uniform again.
  24. I assume he asked to be released. Because releasing a guy because he reported being bullied would be a horrible take by the org.
  25. Is there a Cliffs notes version to this conversation? Can you say what has happening with Melvin?
