  1. I think they bring back Albers and see what he can do in Spring training. They will be paying him $2.5M anyways, may well see if he can correct what has troubled him this fall. He was terrible in the second half, but was excellent through May (ERA around 1.00). Relievers are fickle from year to year. He could very easily be a steal for $2.5M next year. If he is still horrible in spring, then you cut him. All depends if we need space on the 40 man roster.
  2. Just joining this thread. Ohh com'on. I have to read 58 pages? I give up. Go Brewers!
  3. This year's bullpen is by far the best in club history. The offense, defense, and pitching is very good but probably not the best. Fan fact: Jeffress, Burnes, and Hader have a W-L record of 21 - 2! Once we get the ball to them, good things happen.
  4. There are few pitchers in the Brewers system that have the upside of Peralta. But his inconsistency hurts him. I agree he has a good shot at the rotation next year, but having remaining options hurts him. Depends on what the Brewers do in the offseason. If they have 5 other SP without options remaining, Freddy may get sent down just for depth reasons.
  5. Even with a near perfect game, Lopez finished the year with less than impressive numbers: 5.03 ERA with nearly a 1.5 WHIP. Unfortunately he ran into his 3b recently and is done for the year with bruised ribs. Phillips has a sub 600 OPS. Neither player has had enough playing time to really gauge how they will do. It will be interesting to track these players to see how they will do long term. They have their worts but have enough tools to be major league players especially for a rebuilding team like the royals.
  6. If i am doing this correctly (using Cot's), JJ has earned $100k for games finished and $450k for innings pitched. If he gets to 25 games finished he will earn another $100k and 80 IP garners $250k + more if he goes beyond those. His base pay is $1.7M so he has now earned $2.25M - quite a bargain for the Brewers (although not bad compared to my salary).
  7. Williams and Peralta will be activated on Sunday per Sophia. What about Houser? Are they not going to bring him up? They don't have to wait for him as he was optioned in early August so the 10 day waiting period is up.
  8. The problem with the brewers rotation is too many #3-4 starters and not enough at the top end. We have plenty of depth. Would you trade Burnes and Peralta + to get a #1 starter?
  9. I've really been enjoying this wave Miley has been on. He has a new pitch (cutter) that he is using much more frequently and that has been very effective against RHs. Stunningly so: RH have a 597 OPS against him this year. For his career, RH have a 773 OPS against him. Either that pitch is amazingly effective and has dramatically changed his career or there has been some luck involved. A 266 BAbip says the latter. His HR allowed is also amazing compared to his career. 0.4 HR/9 this year vs 1.0 for his career. Again, I am hoping this is a result of his new pitch or something Derek Johnson has tweeked, but he has a 3.8% HR/Fly Ball ratio that is half his career norm of 7.7% (MLB average is 8.3%). I hope Miley can keep this up as we need him in the playoffs. However, I would not bet on him being able to do this over the long haul. I would not risk giving him a long term contract next year.
  10. Soria has pitched .2 innings in the last 3 games, including the day off yesterday. Why would he be out? Cedeno pitched 1 inning in each of the last two days, so I agree it is possible he may be out but I doubt it. He has pitched 3 days in a row in the past, has not pitched much this year, so Counsell won't hesitate to put him out there especially if he is just facing 1 batter.
  11. Of the prospects traded this month Demi was the best of them. He was trending up and has tremendous power/speed combo. Seems like a lot for a month rental. Demi is from Canada so at least he is getting out of the Brewers OF logjam and going home. Good for him
  12. This is a good pickup. I believe we retain his rights for 2019 as well. Got to believe QTC could be as good, but in this case better to go with a known thing. Hope they still call up QTC though unlikely with the 40 full. Who is getting dfa'd to make room for cedeno? Orf? Wilkerson?
  13. I think Bickford, Kirby and Devin Williams are very likely. These guys could use more innings. As for hitters, Grisham would be a good choice. Maybe Segovia?
  14. John Sickels updates his preseason prospect list: https://www.minorleagueball.com/2018/8/28/17792928/milwaukee-brewers-top-20-prospects-for-2018-mid-season-review
  15. Jeffress, Jennings, Albers, and T.Williams are all available for tonight as they pitched 1 inning or less yesterday (with an off day the day before). That seems plenty bullpen with your best starter on the mound. If Chacin were to leave early, as someone has said, Anderson or Guerra could come for relief. Then the other would pitch on Sunday. All of these off days make it a lot easier to juggle a bullpen.
  16. They must be satisfied with Broxton as the PR/Def replacement in the OF. Q.Berry was released
  17. I applaud your efforts. Thank you. I have been checking in on this forum on a daily basis for nearly 20 years and it got so bad I was going to stop due to all the childish behavior. I agree with Ennder that once I started "blocking" a few of the bad apples it got easier to read. This has been a great site for so many years. I'm glad to see steps being taken to fix these problems. Thanks again.
  18. I'm beginning to think you have some doubts about the brewers
  19. Not sure what Brady would be complaining about. A 6.91 ERA normally gets you released. Erik Davis has been respectable in CS but not spectacular. He is roster filler and at age 31 not likely to get many more opportunities.
  20. They could have optioned him after his last start (August 11th) and then recalled him for August 21st. With the off days on the 13th and 16th, they did not need a 5th starter until the 21st. Its not like he pitched well in his last start that they could not live without him.
  21. Agreed. With the trade of Lyles and Soria, the flexibility took a hit. However, Kneble and Williams can both be optioned, although that is unlikely. BTW, you are missing Wilkerson from your list. He is in the same boat as Barnes though. Optioned on the same day. They can also bring up QTC, N.Ramirez, or Derby. They need to clear a 40 man spot, but Hernandez, Thompson, or Wilkerson are all on the bubble.
  22. Well since they did not option him after his last start it was clear they were not going to skip the start. It is odd though. This would have been a good chance to give him a rest and keep his innings down.
  23. Why do we think the return was light. Its a PTBNL. That could mean any minor leaguer in their system not on the 40 man. Remember Michael Brantley was a PTBNL.
  24. What Perez proves to me is that there are enough ABs for a 6th infielder. Maybe Stearns is onto something in getting Moustakas and Schoop. There are enough ABs for all of them, including Perez. As far as Perez goes, he has produced enough such that he probably has earned a job next season.
