  1. I think it is probably his injury at play. He is on pace for 21 HR, 19 SB, 98 R, .830 OPS over a full season not including the DL stint which made him miss over 10% of the season. He maybe didn't take the step up people thought he would be he is at least on pace for a normal year. Not sure what people are expecting. 830 ops would be 2nd best of his career, He is on pace to tie his career high in hrs, BA and OBP right at his career average. Seems pretty good to me
  2. Broxton should stay. Sogard has been given his opportunity and he wasted it. With Orf, Villar, Miller and Perez we have enough infielders.
  3. What has Kratz done to deserve being waived? He's hitting over 800 OPS as the backup. Or are you suggesting we should release Pina after 1/2 of a bad season. He was really good last year. He's still good defensively and has value even as a bC.
  4. Its nice that we have many team MVP candidates (heck, League MVP candidates even). Not like that in years past.
  5. Perfect opportunity to call him up now, instead we call up a guy who can't hit at CS. What numbers are you looking at? Wren AAA OPS: 761, Broxton: 767. For reference Phillips OPS is 763 Wren has a higher BA and OBP but little power, especially considering he plays at CS. He is a singles only hitter. It would have been nice to see him get a shot but to call Broxton a guy who cant hit compared to Wren is odd. Stearns probably had a coin flip between Broxton and Phillips but I doubt Wren was even in the discussion which is why he was released.
  6. Why not just stop allowing basestealing all together. If we really want to speed up the game, that would eliminate a big part of the delays. You could also then impose a time limit to throw the pitch more effectively. I like the steal and think it is a fun part of the game, but to speed up the game, this would be the most effective way of doing it.
  7. Because they don't have enough top prospects in the Biloxi rotation already? Seriously, I'm happy for the guy, but how will all these pitchers get enough innings.
  8. Wilkerson pitched on the 8th. With this 5 man rotation (including Freddie), it basically guarantees one or two of them are always available for a callup. Doesn't seem to be too bad of a situation. I'm just happy we have 5 or 6 solid pitchers that we can call up to fill a role - all on the 40 man. That is unprecedented as far as I can recall in Brewers history. Not including Burns, Derby, Perrin, Ortiz who could be added and would seem to be good options as well.
  9. There are the two 18 year old Aussies the Brewers signed in January. Alex Hall C and Jess Williams SS. I imagine they will both be in Arizona to at least add depth
  10. M. Diplan has really turned in on in his last 6 starts. There are a lot of good performances in the minors this year. Going to be tough to just come up with my top 25. This system is so deep, I can list 75 legit prospects.
  11. Useless fact: Turang's dad, Brian, was originally drafted by the Brewers in 1987. He did not sign. Ended up drafted and signed with Mariners in '89. Played two seasons for them. Let's hope the son doesn't follow his Dad's career path. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/t/turanbr01.shtml
  12. He only had one bad year, last year where he hit a dreadful 584 OPS. The two years prior were 830 and 820 OPS. So he has shown he could hit. I think teams just gave up on him too early. Here is a scouting report from a few years ago. He's faster than I realized and has a bit of pop. But clearly fits best as a utility man due to his limited range and average arm. https://tomahawktake.com/2016/09/24/atlanta-braves-scouting-report-dylan-moore/ I'm pretty excited about him. Could easily push for a utility role next year or earlier.
  13. Dubon and Nottingham, if healthy, could have broke into the top 100. Maybe Nottingham still has a chance if he returns soon and continues to hit.
  14. The crazy stat is the opposite - when they score 4 or more runs they are 28-4. Ramblings (http://albethke.blogspot.com/) has been tracking this stat periodically. They are nearly unbeatable if they can get 4 runs across. That says a lot about their pitching, particularly the bullpen which does not give up leads. They are also undefeated if they are ahead by the 7th inning.
  15. Cole Hamels would be an upgrade based on stats alone. Depends on what it would cost to acquire him. Would you give up Freddy Peralta for him at the trade deadline? I'd be tempted.
  16. I was surprised Angel resigned with the Brewers this year. There were plenty of opportunities to get him to the majors last year and the Brewers never called him up. It seemed like he was never going to get that chance with them. Hopefully he catches on somewhere else and gets that chance.
  17. I love the way Counsell will pull a SP early before much damage is done. We don't have starters that can make it 3 times through the lineup. Then again it easy to do so when our bullpen can do no wrong.
  18. McClanahan seems to be getting some good press this spring. Other than drawing walks, he's been horrible his first two years. He's now repeating rookie ball, so let's hope he starting to figure it out.
  19. There is way too much over reaction on this board lately. Sogard is not great, but he showed last year he can go on a tear and be very productive (.393 OBP). As long as he is our 25th man, I'm fine with him being up. Saladino is this year's Sogard, but when he starts slowing up, I expect him to be replaced as well.
  20. He's also old for the league (25 and lg average is 23.1)
  21. Roegner needs to be promoted. At 25 in high A, he has nothing to prove there. He should be seeing AA soon.
  22. Why would the Brewers trade Hader? I dont see it happening.
  23. Saladino is this year's Sogard. I dont believe it will last but let's let it ride for as long as we can. Arcia needs a good kick in the ....
  24. When Sophia first started she was incredibly stiff and monotone. Really hard to listen to. She has improved greatly and I can now tolerate her. Most sideline reporters ask dull and stupid questions. "How did you feel when you hit that game winning home run"... Sophia is no different. Trenni, on the other hand, was the only one I can remember that generally avoided the dumb questions.
  25. Based on Peralta's huge smile yesterday, his wildest dreams came true. Great for him. I hope he can keep on doing it in the majors.
