  1. Awesome to see all of these promotions. Many of them are interesting prospects so it is exciting to see how they will do.
  2. It could be argued that he's an MLB-ready relief prospect. While he doesn't have the upside that you'd typically look for in a Rule 5 selection, I could see a team grabbing him to fill out the back of their pen. Heck, when a guy like Oliver Drake gets a chance with 5 different teams in one season to fill a similar role, that tells me there is a need out there. I agree. What risk would a prospective team have in selecting Perrin? If he does not stick on the 25 man roster, they just give him back to us. I have not seen teams do this before, but I see no reason why a team would not try it.
  3. So why did Webb start in consecutive games? I feel like i am missing something. One would think that could be a bad idea.
  4. It would be nice to know what kind of stuff Biasi has. We know Perrin gets by on pitchability more than stuff so hopefully we are getting an lottery ticket upgrade here. Nice to see the Brewers give Perrin a chance since it is unlikely he would have cracked our roster in the next few years.
  5. A- 1. Hiura 2. C.Burnes B+ 3. Ray 4. T.Lutz B 5. Turang 6. Dubon 7. Erceg B- 8. Nottingham 9. Z. Brown 10. Diplan 11. Stokes C+ 12. Houser 13. Supak 14. Ponce 15. Gatewood 16. T.Grisham 17. M.Feliciano 18. C.Lemons 19. P. Henry 20. Orimoloye 21. Carlos Rodriguez 22. Vassalotti 23. Bickford 24. McClanahan 25. Leugim Castillo 26. Torres-Costa 27. B.Derby 28. D. Williams 29. A.Ashby 30. M. Bello 31. J.Gray Jr 32. D.Moore 33. N.Ramirez 34. J. Perrin C 35. M.Sanchez 36. Kirby 37. Orf 38. Jankins 39. J.Hager 40. Wilkerson 41. Harber 42. Larry Ernesto 43. Dan Brown 44. Y.Coca 45. L. Aviles 46. G. Garcia 47. KJ Harrison 48. Je'Von Ward 49. D.File 50. Alex Hall
  6. Someone needs to find a hangnail or something on Albers so he can be put on the DL. He needs to get right.
  7. I agree Derby and Perrin are unlikely to be taken so no need to be protected. However, a team could select them with the intent of putting them in the bullpen and if it does not work out, no harm just return them to the brewers. They are both close enough to the majors that they could be considered for a bullpen role. This is similar to a waiver claim of a player that is out of options. So I guess it is possible the Brewers might want to protect them. Even so, they should have room on the 40 to protect who they need.
  8. In the highlight video he pronounce Supak as Shoo-pock. I would have guessed Soo-pak. Great catch - full out running catch at the wall by Ray. Huira showing a decent arm. Aviles has some great range. Exciting stuff. Well worth the time to look at that video.
  9. During Albers first 21 games he had an ERA of 1.08 with a WHIP of 0.88 and K:BB of 21:5. In his last 7 games since coming back from injury his ERA has been 28.80 and a WHIP of 4.00 and 7:4 K:BB. Clearly something is still wrong with him although he says he is healthy. He has also been very unlucky as his BAbip is .625. Albers is on an incredibly team friendly contract for this year and next; $2.5M each. Are you saying you would throw all of that away because of these last few games? I'm frustrated as well but am not willing to risk losing a good pitcher based on a knee jerk reaction.
  10. He definitely has been greet this year but probably not sustainable. He's had quite a bit of luck. BABIP is .235. - His career is .312. He also has not given up any HRs and only three 2B for a .235 SLG against. Its hard to believe that he can sustain that. His walk rate has been horrible the last two years. Historically he has been under 3 per 9 innings. So if he can get his walk rate back to career norms that will help offset some of his regression to means. While I am hopeful that Johnson made a tweak to improve something, I think the more he pitches the less we will like the results.
  11. 40 man crunch Woah Solvd
  12. Olczak has looked really good this year: 1.0 WHIP, 10.7 K/9, 1 HR in 45 IP. Hope in the injury is not severe. Not sure what to think of him. Does anyone know what kind of stuff he has?
  13. Rattlers - Lara with a 2 run HR. Ashby in his A debut pitching six scoreless innings so far. Rattlers up 4-0.
  14. Like most things, if they tried 50 times to put together a top 100 prospect list they would get 50 different lists. If they re-did the list tomorrow Ray could easily be in the top 100. People were down on Ray at the beginning of the year and that probably played into that.
  15. Is it just me, or does Ashby look like Ryan Braun with a larger nose?
  16. I don't think they need to protect him this winter. It would have been unlikely he would stick on a 25 man roster all year next year. with the injury, I think it would be safe to not protect him.
  17. With the addition of Moustakas and subtraction of B.Phillips, J.Lopez, and B.Miller the 40 man roster currently stands at 38. Looks like there is some room for another trade or a callup. Torres-Costa would be a nice add.
  18. This ^ There were comparable players out there who could play 2B instead of this mess of an infield we have now. Maybe the Mets did not want any of the Brewers prospects. We may never know, but it seemed like this value was as good if not better than what the mets got for Asdrubal.
  19. I guess we will get to see how well Arcia can play SS AND 2B now. He has always been a bit of a ball hog. There won't be much competition for him up the middle now.
  20. All I can say is Phillip's value has really dropped. We gave up more for Moose than was given for Asdrubal. Offensively Asdrubal and Moose have similar offensive output but Asdrubal is better. Oh and Asdrubal plays a position in need. Terrible trade. Dont understand why Stearns didn't just go after Asdrubal. Dozier would have been preferred over this and would not have cost as much. At least our defense would not have been hurt as much.
  21. Kilome throws hard but has not pitched that well this year - 1.4 WHIP. Seems like a Diplan or Ponce comp to me (or maybe he's slightly better). I think I would have traded one of those and a low level lottery ticket for Asdrubal. At some point we need to improve at middle IF.
  22. Yeah. Odd profile for a lottery ticket. Low velocity and old for his league. He had good numbers, but still. With as much depth as we have (and the need to clear possible 40 man spots) I'm surprised they did not go after someone else. Maybe a Derby, Harber, or even Lara could have been had.
  23. Glad to see the Brewers finally making a trade. Hate to give up Medieros but that is what the market is for a back end reliever. Unfortunately this does nothing to help the 40 man crunch, assuming we keep Soria for next year. Anybody have any info of Perez? Never heard anything about him. (When I read the title I thought it was Hernan)
  24. Our depth is: Woodruff, Wilkerson, Burnes, Houser, M.Diplan, Asher, L.Ortiz, T.Supak, Derby, Z.Brown (assuming injury is minor) The SP has taken a hit but it has never been this deep that I can remember. Still, I think Stearns will get a rental as we should not rely on kids in a playoff run.
  25. I wonder if the brewers will keep him on the 40 man roster this offseason. They could use the spot. I doubt anyone would claim him.
