I don't think Stearns believes in trading high-end prospects for big name pitchers. Hasn't done it yet in 6 years so I'm not surprised we didn't go that route. I'm fairly happy with how things turned out.
Yeah I agree. Our offense is set. I don't see a big trade there. Adames, Tellez and Escobar were all pretty much our "trade deadline" deals. They were just spread out over the course of two months or so. In the small chance we do make a blockbuster deal, it will be for a starting pitcher like Berrios.
How is it that these big market teams can just acquire whoever they want with whatever crappy prospects they have? Did the Yankees even include a top 10 organizational prospect for Gallo or Rizzo? They don’t even have that great of a farm system. This just irks me.
I think we get a starting pitcher and a reliever. Berrios or Scherzer would obviously be incredible but a Jon Gray is probably more likely. I'll say Gray and Daniel Hudson.
Twins are supposedly shopping Jose Berrios. He has a year left of control beyond this season. What are we thinking it would take to acquire him? Would Mitchell, one of Small/Ashby, Feliciano, and Eduardo Garcia get it done? Too much? Too little?
It’s really a shame the Braves aren’t further back in the East as I believe they’ll still go for it and won’t sell. Freeman would be a dream scenario for us.
Unless you can get an absolute game changer like Jose Ramirez, I don’t see the point in trading for a bat. At this point, I like where our offense is at and that includes the corner infield spots. Just go get some pitching and call it good.
