  1. Mentioned this in the Turner thread but do we pivot toward one of the better starting pitching free agents and just build a stellar pitching staff? Odorizzi, Paxton or Walker? Wouldn’t really feel like a Stearns move but we’ll see. I think we’ll just roll with Urias/Robertson at 3B at this point.
  2. Oh poop. Stearns typically doesn’t spend a whole lot on pitching but I wonder if we pivot toward one of the better free agent starting pitchers and just build a really good pitching staff.
  3. The report is Turner received multi-year offers from both LA and Milwaukee. My guess is it’s two years from LA and three from Milwaukee. If they were equal, Turner would already be a Dodger. So he’s weighing taking the bigger offer from Milwaukee or staying home.
  4. Let’s at least give it a full season before we judge that trade. Last year was a strange season and Urias was hurt and had COVID. If we sign Turner, I’m hoping they give Urias most of the reps at SS.
  5. Just seems like we’re going to get a resolution very soon here. There’s been chatter all day.
  6. Get the feeling Turner is just jerking us around. Sign Franco to play 3B and a starting pitcher like Taijuan Walker and call the offseason good.
  7. Yeah I agree, especially if we can sign Turner. Then we should be set. Just roll with Hader at this point and try to win the division.
  8. Who the heck is Nolan Bratt?
  9. It’s time for the Dodgers to crap or get off the pot. This is getting crazy.
  10. Doesn’t really make sense for the Cubs IMO but that would be the most Brewer thing to happen.
  11. Yeah if they sign him to a 3 year deal, they MIGHT have a 3B in the minors ready to take over by the time the contract is over. That’s how barren 3B has been.
  12. My concern now is the Mets swooping in at the last minute and offering Turner a big contract. They missed out on Springer and Bauer so they’re probably itching to do something.
  13. My guess is LA is offering either a 1 or 2 year deal and Milwaukee is offering one more year and he’s just waiting LA out. Otherwise I think he would have re-signed with LA by now. I’m sure he’s willing to wait at least another week or so until pitchers and catchers report.
  14. The Braves continue to be mentioned. For the life of me I cannot figure out why they don't want to give Austin Riley the chance to run with the job. He's supposed to be the "next big thing" at the hot corner. Yeah I wouldn’t mind talking Riley off their hands if they don’t want him.
  15. Didn’t he just sign with the Reds?
  16. So assuming Turner signs elsewhere, I hope we go after Paxton to round out the rotation. MLB trade rumors projects 1 year, $10 million. I’d be comfortable going 2 years, $18 million or somewhere around there.
  17. Yeah like I said earlier in this thread, I would be totally comfortable going 3 years. At somewhere around $40 million, I don’t think that would be franchise crippling in the least bit. With Garcia coming off the books next year and Cain in 2023, I think we’d be just fine.
  18. Great point. Wonder what it would take to acquire Rios?
  19. Knowing our luck Bauer will go to the Dodgers, we’ll get all excited about Turner coming here and then the Dodgers will find some extra money and just re-sign him anyway.
  20. With our pitching, yes I think we’d have just as good of a chance as the Cardinals/Reds/Cubs.
  21. I think Arcia is a lot more likely to get traded than Urias.
  22. I wonder if the Dodgers are just waiting to see if they can get Bauer and if they do, that probably means they move on from Turner?
  23. Would love to know what we’re offering. It’s obviously at least competitive which is somewhat shocking given our rumored financial constraints this year and the fact we already gave Wong $9 million.
  24. How about separate trades for Hader and Hiura that would get us a legit 1B and 3B: Brewers trade Hiura, Mitchell, Small and Medina to Cleveland for Ramirez Brewers trade Hader to the Mets for Dominic Smith and Thomas Szapucki Then go sign Paxton or Taijuan Walker to a 2 year, $15 million deal (approx. equivalent to Hader's salary)
  25. Yeah this has felt inevitable from the beginning.
