  1. So I see the Padres kept their top prospects so they could acquire Hader.
  2. What would brewerfan.net look like if the Brewers had a day like the Padres had today?
  3. This team literally handed Christian Yelich the richest deal in the team's history by far roughly nine months ago. Fair or not, I think the Yelich/Cain day back in January 2018 seriously ruined people’s expectations forever to the point where they are expecting a blockbuster deal every year. And if we don’t make one then it’s seen as shopping in the bargain basement.
  4. What a day for Padres fans!
  5. So how come a team like the Padres can get such an incredible deal on their TV contact and the Brewers can’t? Is it mainly based on market size? Does Milwaukee’s close proximity to Chicago hurt? If that were the case, San Diego is less than two hours from Los Angeles so why wouldn’t it hurt them?
  6. Isn’t San Diego a small market team just like the Brewers? Where are they getting all this money?
  7. Man are the Padres stacked or what. And they were able to keep the top couple of guys in their minor league system in Gore, Abrams and Campusano. Maybe they get really nuts and trade for Hader now.
  8. Some team would probably give us a low level prospect for him (similar to the Knebel trade).
  9. Yeah I’d rather go after a guy like Snell who’s younger and much cheaper.
  10. Yeah it would sure be fun if the Brewers were in on one of these big international guys just once. The interest has to be mutual obviously so who knows if these guys even consider Milwaukee.
  11. I’m going to lose it if we lose another season of minor league baseball or even if it gets considerably shortened.
  12. Same here. Now Turang for someone like Eugenio Suarez? That I would be more comfortable with.
  13. Yeah pretty crazy to think that the biggest free agent signing so far has been James McCann.
  14. He’s only 27 years old? Man it feels like he’s been around forever. Anyway, if it didn’t cost much of a prospect then I’d be game. I remember when we traded Lucroy to the Rangers a lot of us were clamoring for Gallo to be included.
  15. What the heck are the Reds doing? They finally put together a strong starting rotation after all these years and now they want to break it up? They’re already going to lose Bauer.
  16. Would hate giving up Turang but yeah Suarez would be perfect for this team. Would love to have Gray too but don’t want to give up the farm to get him.
  17. last year they did pay for some decent free agents. They did give Garcia 2/20MM, Smoak 1/5MM, Anderson 1/5MM. Yes they are throwing money out there (no team is). I think they are playing the long game, knowing that they could get decent free agents in February on 1 year prove it contracts. I’m not so sure about this strategy but might not have a choice due to the budget. Just feels like we did this last year and ended up with the Healy’s and Smoak’s of the world.
  18. I would think Vogelbach is only an option at first if this offseason absolutely goes down the crapper and we don’t sign anybody else there.
  19. Sounds like the Jays are still going hard after Kim.
  20. Ben Badler with Baseball America held a chat today and had very high praise for Antoine Kelly saying he was the Brewers most impressive pitcher at their alternate site. Fastball in the 93 - 97 range that topped out at 98 with a plus slider and average changeup. Could soon make the top 100 list. So that’s exciting.
  21. I agree. I like where our system is headed and that doesn’t even include the fact that they’ll have 3 of the top 50 picks in the ‘21 draft. Our international signings look promising too. I certainly wouldn’t rank our system dead last anymore.
  22. I thought it was interesting that they put Antoine Kelly ahead of both Small and Ashby. Also interesting that Jeferson Quero cracked the top 10.
  23. Really hoping 3B Alex Binelas is still around when we pick at #15. I also hope they keep their comp pick!
  24. Not an expert with this stuff so what the heck does this mean going forward?
  25. Yeah this has been a crazy slow offseason so far for just about everybody. Makes me long for the NBA offseason.
