Orem's line-up is unreal. Just about everybody is hitting .315 or higher. At least Arnett pitched a nice inning. Kind of a boring night all the way around.
I'm going to enjoy watching the young guys like Escobar and Gamel the rest of the year (if Macha plays them) along with Braun and Fielder of course. Right now it's not fun watching this pitching staff.
There's been some talk of this lately, but I thought it deserved its own thread. Just curious as to where everybody thinks Lucroy and Salome will open play in 2010. I can't possibly see Lucroy repeating AA, but at the same time won't be splitting playing time with Salome in AAA. Is one of the two a lock for back-up catcher in Milwaukee? Could you see Lucroy by-passing AAA and going right to Milwaukee (and at the same time letting Salome work on his defense more in AAA), or is that an unreasonable thought?
Gamel with two more hits tonight. Is there any benefit of keeping him in Nashville until Sept 1st? Otherwise, he might as well be in Milwaukee starting almost every night.
Thanks to everybody who put in the hard work to get this done. I was a little bit surprised to see Escobar and Gamel flip-flopped, but I can't disagree with it. It's really refreshing to see so many pitchers in the top 20. My only complaints would be Arnett and Green being a couple spots too high and Scarpetta being a couple spots too low, IMO. Other than that, it looks great. Thanks again.
Wow, great outing for Scarpetta. 6 IP, 2 hits, 6 strikeouts, no runs. As others have mentioned, next year will be a lot of fun following pitchers like Scarpetta, Peralta, Rivas, Rogers, etc.
Nashville Bottom 4th Joe Koshansky walks. Adam Heether pops out to shortstop Adrian Cardenas. Mat Gamel out on a sacrifice bunt, pitcher Jerome Williams to first baseman Jeff Baisley. Joe Koshansky to 2nd. Why in the world are they having Gamel bunt runners over? Anybody else a little perturbed by this? Could have been Gamel just trying to bunt for a base hit too, but that just seems strange.
I've been wondering the same thing about Schafer for the past month now Geezy. Couldn't you play Cain in CF and Schafer in RF, or vice versa? I guess we'll just have to wait until next year to see Schafer in Huntsville.
Peralta threw three scoreless innings and then left the game. Hopefully not injury-related. Farris ends up five hits including a double, RBI, and two stolen bases.
BC is having all kinds of fun tonight. Gindl with a homerun and 3 RBI's in his first game since being on the DL. Schafer with a double and a triple. Farris with three hits including an RBI and two stolen bases. Still just the 5th inning.
Haudricourt writes that a deal is probably in place with Davis and that it won't be announced until tomorrow before the 11pm deadline. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/53364122.html
