    Gamel in his last 10 games: 4 for 35 with 19 strikeouts. I'm really hoping he breaks out of this slump soon.

    Bill Hall is playing in RF tonight. Escobar must not be back with the team yet as he's not in the line-up again tonight.

    This season yet? I thought it was really hard to make trades after the deadline. Especially one of this magnitude.

    Patterson won't take any playing time away from Bourgeois. I imagine they'll both be in the outfield.

    That would be the second mental health day in three games for Gamel I believe. It's too bad Jones' outing got cut short by rain tonight. Hopefully Arnett can keep the walks down tonight.

    Very true. If the Brewers are completely out of the race, there's no harm in letting a guy like Jones or Josh Butler (if healthy) start a couple games in September to see what kind of stuff they have.

    Yeah, I've been seeing a lot of "Braun had no comment after the game" in the game summaries lately.

    I would like to see Escobar get some playing time with the big club to see what he can do, but what are the chances they actually sit Hardy on the bench in favor of Escobar? Especially before September. I just don't see it happening.

    I too would like to have seen Jones get the call-up to start one of the games this weekend. He's shown he can go 6 or 7 innings on a consistent basis and has also shown better control as of late. Maybe he'll get his shot yet this season if the Burns/Dillard/Villanueva trio fails big time.

    Bill Hall is batting 3rd and playing shortstop tonight. Gamel is dropped down to 6th in the order.

    Well I was hoping we'd acquire Peavy in the offseason. Maybe he'll turn it down again.

    Excuse my ignorance, but how do trades work now that the deadline has passed? I've never understood that. I imagine if we are out of the race by the end of August that Doug might consider selling some of the vets.

    This trade is just an indication of how disappointing this season has been. We have played so poorly that it would have been tough for Doug to trade good prospects for rental players. Doug has said all season that he would have to be "motivated" to swing a major deal, but how can you be motivated when your team has stunk it up for the past two months?

    Is it just me, or is it the same every year with the Orioles? Player A could be available but we are going to want the moon and the stars to let him go. Meanwhile, they continue to stink every season.

    I was thinking the same thing. There's a lot of empty seats tonight.

    Salome is hurting a little bit right now and I believe Gamel was simply getting the day off. I wouldn't be nervous. Edit: I shouldn't say for sure that Salome is hurt right now. That would be my best guess though.

    Hmm, so does this mean we are officially in a selling mode? Or just that we are going to stand pat?

    Yeah, it's that kind of proposal that will make me glad when the deadline passes. The trading deadline is fun, but all of these rumors and proposals get to be a little much.
