  1. No kidding. It was a great move by Yost to keep Parra in for the lefty and get out of the inning. The bullpen is overworked as it is.
  2. You have to pitch a full inning with a 3 run lead, or come in to the game with the tieing run on-deck. Since the tieing run is now on-deck it would be a save situation.
  3. According to gameday, Sheets just struck out Keppinger on a 90 mph changeup. That is impressive....or gameday is wrong.
  4. Plus they are now 6-0 in games that he has appeared in. Maybe he can start in center for Gross?
  5. but we had a better chance for four runs that inning by not bunting --nothing like being arrogant and combative. needed one run. That's why it's in blue. That means sarcasm. One run would have won this game. First inning, don't bunt. Ninth inning, bunt.

  7. Excellent job by McClung to keep the Brewers in the game today. Mota too.
  8. Who is to say JJ doesnt hit into a DP? It was the right move who is to say JJ gets the bunt down. I guess this is a difference in baseball opinion. Mine is right and yours is wrong Nothing like being arrogant and combative when the move proved out to be right.
  9. who is to say JJ doesn't get a hit. It was a stupid move. Down 2 to give up an out. Who is to say JJ doesn't GIDP, or strike out? I would much rather take my chances with the tieing run on 2nd with the two best hitters coming up. Not to mention, JJ is hitting below .200, so it's not like he's been ripping the cover off the ball.
  10. So Braun and Prince couldn't hit a 3 run homer to take the lead? And now it looks like Prince got the job done to tie it, so your second point is void.
  11. The bunt allowed them to score the run on the sac fly. If Hardy had done the same thing as Braun, they would still have 1st and 2nd with 2 outs. Why not get the tieing run into scoring position with your two best run producers coming up? I was quite glad that Yost had Hardy bunt, especially the way the whole offense is struggling.
  12. Sure hasn't helped Gross. Gwynn and Kapler were doing fine in their halves of the platoon.
  13. Similar to CV and Parra getting a pass when their starts have been no better than Bush's.
  14. Hardy hitting in front of the pitcher is putting up better numbers than Gross in front of Prince/Braun. I think Hardy will do better than Gross in the 2 hole. The only better option in today's lineup may be Counsell.
  15. Just curious, are there stats by pitcher. Do we know what the run expectancy is against Santana with a runner on 2nd no outs, or a runner on 3rd with one out? Are you factoring in that it could wind up 1st and 3rd no outs, or better if there is an error? Of course, the bunt could also be popped up, and you'd have runner on 2nd with one out. The point being, it's not as simple comparing general hypotheticals. The pitcher, runner, and batter all affect the outcome a certain way.
  16. Wow, this thread is hilarious, considering the Brewers won. According to many here: 1. Suppan should have been pulled in the 3rd because he "didn't have it" 2. Torres, Shouse, and Mota all should have been pulled earlier because they "didn't have it" Who would have pitched the last 4 innings today? You have to give Ned credit on getting the victory, when none of his pitchers had any control. It's funny on how when the bullpen does well, the bullpen is great. When the bullpen struggles, it is all Ned's fault for not using them right.
  17. Yeah, a check swing blooper, and 2 seeing eye groundballs. This isn't a video game where a new pitcher is ready by hitting the B button. In real life, it takes time to warm up pitchers, and Ned had no need to get someone ready before the home run.
  18. Makes no difference where the defender is when he touches a batted ball. What matters is where the ball itself is, when touched.
  19. Fogg is one of the best up-and-coming pitchers?
  20. Harang with 84 pitches - 64 for strikes. That's pounding the strike zone.
  21. Reds 1-4 hitters are 0-14, and they are still winning.
  22. Serious? you are blaming Gross' AB for Bush allowing runs in the 6th? Nope, just stating that Gross was not patient at all, when 95% of MLB players would have taken at least one or two pitches. And you are basing this 95% number on? Gross saw 3.91 pitches per plate appearance last season. That is 69 out of 235 national league players who had at least 100 at bats. The man isnt remotely close to Johnny Estrada (who btw was dead last on the list) I didn't say he was Johnny Estrada over his career, or last year. I said last night. 3 AB's, 3 pitches total.
  23. There was one in the gap in RC when he was already shaded that way. He broke back first, and then over. A good jump it could have been caught. I believe there was another liner that landed in front of him. He was playing deep, and didn't make a good break in (I admit, those are very tough to get a good jump on). A better CF, would probably be playing more shallow, and have a better chance. Again, none of these were "easy" plays. It would take a good to very good CF to make any of them. I believe Cameron and Gwynn would have made a couple of them.
