  1. Greeg, I've heard of that before. It happens to my father sometimes, the first time my mom said he really freaked out. "Demon's have me!" I think was the quote. Again, not sleepwalking, but when you sleep on your arm funny and then you wake up in the middle of the night and can't move it at all, that's a pretty weird feeling.
  2. Thanks for the intro, Connor. Last I heard they just said "ships spring of 2008." Spring is running out, so its gotta be soon. And I haven't forgotten about the All-Brewers League idea, Rydogg. Its still in my back pocket as a potential project.
  3. I'm still holding out hope for a miraculous early September return. I can hope.
  4. Cartman: Butters, you've gotta learn to chill. Life goes by pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, and do whatever you want all the time, you could miss it. Butters: Yeah, well, I guess that's kinda true. Cartman: [stops in his tracks] Uh oh. [sees the police at the Pioneer Village entrance.] Crap, they called the cops on us. or What, did you think Shaq made all his money in Orlando? No, he made it in college. Everyone knows that.
  5. I have a reoccurring dream that I'm a squirrel who has hidden Jamie's shoes.
  6. EDIT: 41.049 It's hard to get a strategy after about 35 seconds.......what am I doing with my life. That's so good, I'm not sure I believe you. Wow!
  7. 22.531 EDIT: 22.969 EDIT2: 23.562 If you can beat 25, that's awesome. At 20 it gets really hard.
  8. They'll always have someone to play catch with! Congrats!
  9. Jaybird, I'm the exact same way. My mother has thyroid problems, but I've never had mine checked. (Probably should.) My first step to getting more rest is getting a better mattress. Mine sucks. That, and go to bed at a reasonable hour. I need 10 hours of sleep to feel well rested, and I usually give myself about 6 or 7.
  10. With Gange, our starters, our power outage, and our overall poor hitting - the most surprising stat is that we are over .500!
  11. 2010 at the earliest, IMO, so I agree. As I understand, the scouting report on him is he plays top 5% defense at SS, and has the potential to hit .300 at the big leagues. He never has been much of a walker, so I'd say he's a .300 / .340 / .400 type major leaguer down the road if all goes well. But yes, he has big strides to make offensively before he's ready, and has the time age-wise to do it.
  12. Weird, they were there last time I visited this thread. I re-added them.
  13. Will this nucleus ever win and what the future holds? I believe this team is established enough to conclude that unless we have a White Sox '05 type season, we are no more than a 82-85 win team over the next three years as is. So if by win you mean championship caliber, I think the answer is no. However, that doesn't lead to blowing the team up. We can go two routes with it: 1 - Continue to build as we have been, and without any bad luck remain a 80's win team over the next eight years, as Oakland did. In this case, the club is spreading out the good years and with one lucky season possibly take home a title. 2 - Use our future (our prospects) to build a short term championship caliber team, then fall back and try to do it over again. Selling off our current team really just sets us back two years.
  14. I'm trying to not be reactionary, but I feel doing nothing isn't serving the teams interest either. Well, even before the injury there was the thought that we had minor league ammo to make a midseason move. Gallardo's injury just quickened the time frame and increased the importance. Zach Greinke, instead of Kazmir. Cheaper and might actually be available for the right price.
  15. LaPorta almost has to be option A for a long term outfield injury. Otherwise, a September call-up is almost assured if he keeps hitting well. OD 2009 or a few weeks in is going to be his arrival date, with Gamel just weeks/months behind, and Escobar weeks/months behind that.
  16. These two are ones 90% or more have seen already. But it never hurts to watch them again. Got any other funny or amazing baseball videos?
  17. A's are fine, and I actually like the Pirates' logo. Jays and Nationals are dumb, I agree, but new enough that I'm guessing a change isn't looming. I don't think the name "Indians" would need to be changed, but maybe a more tasteful logo would be appropriate. Maybe something like this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v477/rmered/Cleveland-Indians.gif (Swiped off the sportslogos.net forums.)
  18. This could possibly be merged with the other "trade for starter" thread. Grienke hasn't been brought up yet, and I think that's a pretty good option. The team has had some problems with him, and he's hitting arbitration next season so he won't be dirt cheap anymore. The good thing about dealing with the Royals is that they'd be one of the most open teams to taking a group of lower level guys or 2nd tier prospects. Something like Escobar+Butler+Periard for Grienke might work? As for Hart, let's keep him. We have other ammo we can use.
  19. Which teams are due for a new logo? And, if you're feeling adventurous, design one. Not that I don't like it, but the Orioles seem like their logo goes against logo trends. It's too "realistic." I could see the Rockies with a redesign. I'm okay with purple because nobody else uses it, but with the Rays going blue, green would be great for the Rockies too.
  20. I'm starting to become a believer in Gamel. I was most skeptical of him through last season and the past offseason, but he's winning me over. Just please stick at 3B Mat! We could really use you there. Also, maybe its just this picture, but Mat's look sure would fit in with the 1982 Brewers, with one minor tweak: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d175/sbrylski06/Gamel-1.jpg
  21. Contract: 1 year/$10M (2007), plus 2008 options [li]signed as a free agent 12/06 07:$10M, 08:$6M player option or $11M club option 2008 player option may increase to: $7.5M with 170 IP in 2007 $8.75M with 185 IP in 2007 $10M with 200 IP in 2007 no-trade protection [/li] So it'd be a significant monetary investment for a 42 year old (43 in 2009), and he'd have to waive his no-trade. I do think Milwaukee would be on his short list for places to be trade to, though.
  22. Good point, I didn't look at it that way. Even if he was saying they don't plan on resigning him, plans can change, or he might not be speaking honestly.
  23. It was an debate, with Costas as moderator. You can probably argue Costas didn't do enough moderating, but I don't think it was intentionally set up to be negative toward the internet. Braylon Edwards needs a new agent.
