  1. I sat in the club level last Sunday - I think section 329, right behind the plate. They are awesome tickets, except the front row has the railing in the way a little bit. We were in the second row, which is perfect. So I recommend anywhere from section 327 to 332, and 2nd or 3rd row if possible.
  2. I see a lot of "top of the rotation prospect" and more. Yet in the Sabbathia to MIL thread, most are quite hesitant to part with one of our top 2 or 3 prospects. I see some inconsistencies...
  3. Huh? Having less wins is an advantage?
  4. Either way, he won't be needed. Doesn't mean he couldn't be of help. He is quite unlikely to be pitching again this season. I wouldn't mind his bat as a PH in the playoffs though... and only half kidding.
  5. Odds are for suckers. Use your gut, pick your playoff teams and stick with them. We're at war, pick a side! /colbert
  6. Has this been posted yet? Brevard County is going to start relief pitchers and bring in their starters around the 3rd inning in attempts to develop a "nine inning mindset." Is it just me, or does this seem kind of dumb?
  7. Coke and Cheez-its.
  8. The Opera browser has a built in form filler-outer thingy.
  9. Okay this place is just too funny for words. Except these two hundred: I've been posting over there and there's this one guy who's obsessed with pulling out the most obscure stats to prove obscure things that no one cares about. If this guy would learn how to work a computer, he could hide all the posts that contain an acronym or a number and highlight every sentence that contains a swearword substitute or triple extra punctuation to make sure his eye is drawn to the most relevant information. Who is this guy talking about anyway? I don't think he even knows what he's arguing about half the time. I can't remember his name, not gonna bother to look, I just know he has a picture of Selig's daughter on his profile, which I guess says all you need to know. That rluzyinsky guy who used to post here? Or is he still here? I'm sure the rest of you guys have him on your ignore list like I do. And what does that avatar tell you anyway? That Russ is a knowledgeable, longish time fan with a sense of humor? So I'm spending some time there, learning the ropes, keeping my real thoughts inward because I've noticed the moderating over there is Hitler-esque and they seem to ban anyone and everyone who ruffles a single feather. ...or is a gay Jewish gypsy. Anyway, I took a gander at the "about us" page and ... yeah ... wow. Sure, there are some normal lookin' dudes there. Typical baseball fans, then you got one dude using a picture of a dog, He's using a picture of a dog!? How can that guy possibly know anything about baseball!? another girl (I don't think those guys have actually met a girl) Russ, the appointed king nerd, is rumored to have met one once. She (allegedly) was the receptionist at the ovary clinic that helped him create his newborn baby. Consider me skeptical though. using a picture of Lisa Simpson, http://www.islandersarmy.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/57367-simpsons_nelson_haha2.jpg and some guy named Josh O'Connell. WHAAA!??!? What the crap kind of name is that!!?!?! I can't quite figure out what that guy looks like, but I'm working on it. I think he thinks he's stuck in Malibu and has no idea he's from Wisconsin, at least the picture make it looks that way. Embrace your roots, Josh!!! Start a dairy farm and grow a beer gut for god sake, eh? Then there were my two favorites, some poet-looking ponytail guy Ethan again gets a prime spot on the hater favorite list, but we have a new guy in the top spot: and best of all, a guy named Jim Goulart who I think is actually Mike Krzyzewski in Brewers gear. Actually, he's Russell Branyan, and like Casey and his dog, he posted a picture of his pet. (Yes, Russell Branyan's pet is Mike Krzyzewski, whom he forces to wear Brewers gear.) It has to be. Russell Branyan is the only man who could be that awesome at covering the minor leagues and have a human for a pet. They never updated the content. Before the draft "preview" the article they had up was like a year old. Basically they got a message board run by Hitler but they think they're the be all end all of everything Brewers. Ugh. Yeah, take that! He's on the OFFICIAL Brewers.com message board. Which one do you think is better...
  10. One of the best comedians ever, and I'm picky. Carlin was on the level with Russell Branyan. I guess he'll find out if he was right about religion... Sad day.
  11. Just a side note: Jack Cust only swings at 10% of pitches outside the zone, a ridiculous number.
  12. Focusing on Ryan Braun's OBP, while he's excelling at his primary offensive duties, is like... Every hitters' primary offensive duty is to not make an out. The quality of your non-outs comes second everytime... But don't you consider the offensive roles the 2 players fall into? ...regardless of the role they play. A single with a runner on second (a couple .400/.400 teammates) scores just as many runs as a flyout and a solo HR (.300/.500 guys). There is no prime balance or method of scoring runs.
  13. Juuust to be sure, that's a fake quote right?
  14. It sounds like something for OOTP9 to me!
  15. 8 PM in Chicago is 10 AM in Tokyo. That's really not that bad. However, 8 PM in Tokyo is 6 AM in Chicago, and that's probably not going to fly. So I'm not sure Japanese teams want a 3 week road trip where all their games are broadcast at 10 AM.
  16. I have read that slugging has correlated higher to runs than OBP in the last few years. Where have you read this? (Sincere curiosity.) (We should get a color for "sincere curiosity," like blue is for sarcasm.)
  17. I really don't think travel will be that huge of an issue. Sure, its a pretty long flight, but a team would stay over there, say, 2.5-3 weeks to play 6 of the teams, or something like that. So two road trips pushed together to make one big one, and each team would only do it once a season.
  18. I think it would be neat, and very interesting. Down the line we'll probably have a team or three south of the border too. Thinking way ahead, there maybe could expand to a third North American League - 3 leagues of 12, plus one Asian league of 12 - to make the playoffs work. Its all fantasy right now, but I think there will be a point somewhere in the future when the MLB globalizes.
  19. Do you have some statistical evidence to support that Vlad swings at few pitches outside the zone? I'm not trying to be smart in asking that, I'm seriously curious. Look two posts above yours. Guerrero leads the league in swinging at pitches outside the zone at 44%. EDIT: Here's the link. (Sort by O-Swing%)
  20. A-Rod is overrated? I'm not saying he's underrated, but I think he gets a raw deal more often than not.
  21. Vlad swings at literally almost every pitch in the zone, but few (despite his rep) outside of the zone. Er, except for the fact he leads the league in swinging% on pitches outside the zone by 5% over the 2nd placed Soriano. Braun is more indiscriminate in his hacking- he doesn't wait for a strike like Vlad does. Braun swings at 10% less pitches outside the zone, and 15% less inside the zone, than does Vladdy. The reason Guerrero walks more is because he's getting over 10% more balls than Braun is - a number than one would think would go down quickly the longer Braun keeps sending them into the stratosphere. I think Ryan's approach is already decent enough to see his OBP climb into the .350-.370 range as time goes by. If he develops a better eye/approach at the plate, he could mature into a fully rounded superstar that the plate. Edit: I didn't say he IS like Vlad, I said his ability to crush balls out of the zone is like Vlad's. Vlad is like 50th in contact out of the zone (this is where the public perception is a little off) and Braun is like 115th. They may have power outside the zone, which is probably what you're talking about, but in just making contact, they swing and miss about the average amount. Disclaimer: The percentages I used were all from this season, though they are about in line with both player's numbers over the past 2-3 years.
  22. Initially reviews are looking pretty tasty. I'd like to wait to purchase until the first patch is released, but I might have to just go for it.
  23. 3TO is on pace to slug 51 HRs this season. (10 in the 22 games since his callup, 91 games remaining.)
  24. There's this one: "Baseball is like church. Many attend but few understand." - Leo Durocher (or Wes Westrum?)
  25. His 3TO% sits at 59.7% with his HR and 2 Ks in 3 PA today.
