  1. Pena - Millegde - Kearns have to be the starters. They can get the BBQ Logan out of the lineup. All the potential of this trade is on the Nats side. Nothing is for sure, but in all likelihood the Nats will have won this.
  2. No to Reyes, and that sounds like pure speculation. But they are interested in Cappy, eh? To the Scott Rolen thread!
  3. Montezuma of the Aztecs. Robin, you know what I'm talking about.
  4. Does anyone else disagree with this? The two months following the injury, Bill Hall hit .213 with a .633 OPS. I'd rather have had Hart in CF with Gross getting more time (had a killer August), or even get Gwynn out there. I know they gradually went to that after it was apparent Hall wasn't the same, but he might as well have just sat out until completely healthy. Johnny Estrada played through injury last season, and it also can be argued he hurt the team. Most people would probably rip a player if he missed extra time from an injury or missed, say, a few starts due to minor injuries...cough-Sheets-cough....but if you're not healthy enough to play, don't play. (Note: Ripping on a player for being oft-injured and not playing through injuries are two different things. I'm saying I won't do the latter.)
  5. I think it would be interesting, and better for the show, for TBS to do something like 15 minute shows twice a week - 2 sketches each. Or something like 3 times a week, one sketch each. TBS could even turn it into like a prolonged commercial for their station, which Frank's "show" ending each time with his character saying, "TBS...very funny," like the opening scene of SNL always says "Live from New York"...ect Just throw these 5 minute "commercials" in randomly. Probably horrible ideas, but I agree its not a show that will last long in the 10 o'clock time slot. I think it is worthy of being on TV in short spurts, however.
  6. His promo's were hilarious, but so far his show is a bit "eh". Its just the first show though, and because I do think he's quite funny, I'll keep tuning in for a while.
  7. WHIP is slightly more descriptive than predictive, IMO. BB are all pitcher, however H are largely a function of K rate; the hits will fluctuate according to luck and ballpark. Not all K rates equal the same hit rate exactly, but if you see a player's WHIP drop and his BB and K's stayed the same, it means very little to me.
  8. I agree with you. If we could get him he'd be a good outfield addition. High OBP guy. And good to have around in case we have an unfair umpire.
  9. I'm not sure Parra is ready for the rotation physically. Even with a Sheets trade, I'd still like to see us sell Vargas away, clearing more salary, and then targeting something more solid. Obviously much easier said than done, but there are guys available - as good as Blanton/Haren/Harden to guys like Joe Kennedy. Just not a Vargas fan. Gallardo - Villanueva - Suppan - ??? - Capuano/Bush/Parra I'm comforable with the above quality and depth. The big Sheets move, followed with a trade reminiscent of the DBacks trade with us for Doug Davis, would set this team up wonderfully. Add in some more BBQ relievers to spin the wheel on, and I'm ready for ST.
  10. Do it. Do it. Do it. Who plays CF?
  11. Careful Weirdos....make your next post count!
  12. FTJ, you described the Bullpen Ace theory. I like it too. Use our best reliever whenever we need him most, be it in the 6th inning or the 8th. Then, with the bases empty to start the ninth bring in Turnbow, who will get the job done most of the time, or completely bomb.
  13. Ya, #4 is pretty good - there are some impressive prospects on that list. Adam Miller, Teagarden, Swarzak, Clement... I've only been following loosely, can someone sum up a report on his defensive performance this fall?
  14. Addictive and constructive! - LINK 1. Click on the answer that best defines the word. 2. If you get it right, you get a harder word. If wrong, you get an easier word. 3. For each word you get right, we donate 10 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Program.
  15. Eh, I didn't laugh at all at the ending. My favorite character by far has become Randy Marsh. I laughed at everything he did this episode - when he threw that fit because Stan turned off "Heroine Hero".... YES
  16. I was going to bring it up, but RZR has Winn as better than even Kearns in RF.
  17. Brew, Kearns and Church have been playing in a pitcher friendly ballpark. Their road splits are better and could be more indicative of their future preformance in neutral Miller Park. Winn also plays in a pitcher park, but his splits since '05 are quite balanced. Also, age and salary are huge factors. Those are the main reasons they are better than Winn.
  18. I second the Lofton or Grench>>>Winn, all things considered. But - I'm not going to take this too seriously right now. Melvin has talked to nearly, if not every team in the league about their outfielders. We have more targets than Randy Winn. This is just one possibilty that the media caught wind of. I'll get worried when I start hearing non-speculation and actual names being thrown around on both sides. Worried, because Winn is not an improvement over what we have. If we give Capuano up for Winn, I'll be angry. I'm not saying that its not what it will take, just that its too high of a price for us to pay. The good I see in Winn is that his RZR for RF last season in a very sizeable sample was .916 - which would have been good for best in the NL among all qualifiers had he gotten the few extra innings to qualify. RZR has him better than average in CF, and one of the best in the corners since he went to San Fransisco. However - offensively, financially, and overall - not enthralled. More of a "we couldn't get the guys we really wanted, so we had to settle for Winn" type.
  19. You are the devil. I fully expect an electronic strike zone to be implemented on December 21st, 2012 - officially marking the beginning of the apocolypse.
  20. We came so close this past season, a few measly games. And I can easily rattle off at least 5 instances when Ned cost us a game with his in-game strategies, his mismanagement of the pitching (especially of CoCoCo), or his staunch belief in Counsell, Bush, Capuano, Turnbow and Menchkins. That turned the division title to the Cubs. You can't compare Ned to perfection. How many times did Lou Pinella march out the wrong bullpen pitcher last season to "cost" his team the game?
  21. I can't speak for people living in Milwaukee, but go anywhere else and I'd have to imagine you'll get an large majority favoring the Packers.
  22. Thanks, Brawndo. I wonder why Hall is supposed to get worse? Also, the stats on Mench and Gwynn are interesting.
  23. I'm guessing the official TV report was only that Crawford could be traded, and they've already been in serious discussions. His friend, the emailer, then made up a potential trade involving the Brewers. I don't think he said the TV report even connected the rumor to Milwaukee.
