  1. Gotta be Joe Mauer for me. Plenty of 1B out there to choose from.
  2. Russ, the scale I like best is: 9 - HR 7 - 3B 5 - 2B 3 - 1B 2 - BB 1 - SB (And then -2 for CS, if you wanted.) But that's easiest to remember, IMO - no decimals, and essentially the same scale (~.3 overvalues 3B, ~.2 2B), but nothing too big. 123 then 579.
  3. I'd just say, the less busy the better.
  4. BTW, Free T-Shirt for the winning submission?
  5. So far, I definitely like the Prince symbol + the National Tour dates. Maybe I'm overly picky, but something about the design as it is seems to clash a bit or something. Maybe the use of realistic images for the glove, bat and the left baseball juxtaposed with the cartoony hot dog. Possibly go one direction or the other? (I'd like the cartoony/simple grapics better.) But the concept is genius, definitely first prize so far. Anyway, here's what I've got so far, its nothing special. It pales in comparison to the one above: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d175/sbrylski06/shirt1.png I'm going to see if I can come up with something better.
  6. Is LL.net fair game for the T's too, or strictly BF.net?
  7. Not sure if this is being discussed over at LL. The boards share an Off-Topic forum, so this is where we'd talk about it. Since my Pack isn't in the big game, and I can't stand the Pats and am still a little mad at the Giants, commercials will be my main focus this year. Enjoy! I'm almost rooting for the Patriots.
  8. I suppose you'd be the one to get defensive. You went from one Duck country to the other!
  9. By the way, this would be a great name for a sports team in the Madison Area...
  10. He sounds like the Yin to Dillon's Yang. Munson Counsell Dillon Betemit Gross Gwynn on the roster while Cameron is suspended I'm not sure that's the best use of our excess SP, I'd probably prefer just a prospect or a better backup catcher, but its a thought.
  11. I apologize for being a little "short," but I stand by my comments. I think its a fairly blatant overvaluing of our guys. In regards to misrepresenting the trade... Gamel hasn't really improved his fielding in 3 seasons, and its pretty autrocious. We may not move him yet, but other teams aren't going to see a 3B prospect, I don't think. At 1B, I would estimate there's about 4-6 prospects ahead of him, hence the "B" status. "Other prospects" almost always means guys lower than the lowest guy listed. So lower than Rogers or Brantley is not going to sway them without a top end guy in the deal. And like TwoBrewers said, Jeffress is overrated on this board. He's a prep pitcher who throw's hard. In terms of trade value, I would say he's the prospect you add to the end of a deal to balance it out right now - low A ballers just don't have too much value. Or he's at least closer to that than being a key piece in getting a Cy Young candidate. Hey, its just my opinion. I'm usually the optimist, but I've learned to tone down my trade value projections.
  12. They can do all the math they want, but it relies on luck wether he is a super 2 or not. You can sure improve your luck by waiting until ~June 10th or so, or longer. I think we could have handled two more weeks of Counsell, in hindsight anyway. With Braun's defensive struggles, he wasn't as much of an upgrade as he could have been. Probably under a 10 run improvement over 2 or 3 weeks, so we likely didn't even win an extra game over that time.
  13. The defensive struggles reason was also extremely relevant. I sure hope they did their math right and avoided Super 2 status for Braun.
  14. I'm not sure how you get 6 more season's unless his rookie contract was a unique one. I show 5 additional years. 1 baseball year = 172 days Ryan Braun wasn't called up until May 25th. Therefore, this season doesn't count as a full year. He's still under control for 6 more years because he'll reach 6 years service time in the middle of his 7th season with the club, and then be granted free agency after that season. Arbitration, on the other hand, has a chance of still kicking in after 2009. So Braun could have 4 years of an arbitration contract. This depends on other players service time, so we really don't know. Braun will be cutting it close.
  15. Gamel's either a bad fielding 3B prospect, which doesn't help his value, or he moves to 1B, which doesn't help his value. Not sure how anyone can have any confidence in Mark Rogers anymore. Two or three months of health is not going to erase the previous years of surguries and restore him to prospect status. If he was in a different organization, would you want him? I'm not saying he's quite got Jeffress's potential, but Garrison had the same low A results at the same age. Factor in the potential, subtract for multiple substance abuse infractions and a suspension, I don't think you're talking too much more trade value than what Garrison might of had. Low A-ball prospects in general do not have much trade value. "Plus other prospects" means fodder. To win a guy like Sabathia off the trade block, its going to take someone better than Gamel, plus Gamel. Then possibly "plus other prospects". Show me some examples of similar trades and prove me wrong.
  16. It'd be great to get Weeks locked in to a Hall-esque contract. That'd be a 5 year deal with a 6th year option, to give us control over two FA years. I want Hart here forever. I think Boras will take Fielder year to year.
  17. I'm not saying that the Twins would take a package of Gamel, Jeffress, and Rogers and someone like Brantley over what they got back, but keep in mind its for a lesser valued pitcher and its a deadline deal for a pitcher that they aren't going to re-sign so they have less leverage. Rogers is worthless. Jeffress has huge red flags, little track record, and years away from the bigs. Gamel has a decent bat, but has not shown that he knows what a glove is and almost surely would be moved to 1B. As a 1B prospect, he's just another guy. I just don't think that package has trade value.
  18. It wouldn't be more appealing.
  19. I think this is the over whelming majority viewpoint. Maybe not in June, but if we struggle to 81, I too think Simmons is our 2009 skipper.
  20. Ha, I napped through it, I guess. I can throw a rock out my window and hit Lake Mendota too...
  21. When Mark jumped in with those 2 horrifying votes of confidence in Septembe 3rd and on the last day of the season, among the things he noted was that the Brewers are playing before bigger crowds, TV ratings were up, and the team finished with a winning record. "Ned is fine" we were told. I disagree. I think that comment was purely to maintain a solid, comfortable working relationship. Doesn't mean he isn't actually on ice.
  22. It took Inman, Thatcher, and Garrison to get Scott Linebrink last deadline. We are going to have to pay more on the top end than a B 1B prospect and a suspended low A-ball SPer.
  23. Can we submit multiple designs?
