  1. Bah. I'm a huge supporter of Bush, and I think it would be awful to sell low on him. Also not as high on Salty, for reasons already posted.
  2. I don't get it. A.) Is he being sarcastic? B.) Is it suppose to be funny? C.) A few big words are canceled out by really bad punctuation.
  3. Otsuka hands down. Weathers has done fine this season, but over the last three seasons prior he has left a lot a runners on base, something that usually doesn't continue. He could fall apart at any time. Otsuka's been great and shows no signs of slowing down.
  4. Geez, I've missed out on about the past three stat debates! (Not that this one is over yet) Basically, I'm agreeing with Ennder and Rluz. A pitcher can give up a lot over runs over a small number of starts despite doing all the things he can do to prevent runs well. Its not 100% the pitchers fault that runs score while he's on the mound, luck and defense do play a part. Also, when saying stuff like "he's no longer our #2" or "he should go to the pen soon", you should be using statistics/logic that predict future success well. ERA does not. K's, BB's, and FB% do.
  5. Wait, Suppan has a no-trade clause? I thought he didn't?
  6. Ford is one of my favorite prospects. Very nice to see him hitting so well, he's like Gwynn only he actually does have top notch speed and also enough potential in the power department to eventually become a ML starter. His OBP is still a little BA driven though, so unless he improves on that I'm not sure I'm ready to proclaim him as a quality leadoff candidate.
  7. Fox. Rosenthal. Rumor. That's all. Good point, makes me feel a little better. This has only about a what, 10% chance of actually being "nearly done". Maybe talked about, or propsed, but nothing is really for certain.
  8. Ha, I was already doing so. Rickie's BABIP is only about .014 below his expected BABIP. So, his bad luck has taken away about 3 hits. That would raise his average from .221 to .234. So luck doesn't really have too much to do with it. What Yost might be talking about is how many P/PA Rickie has been seeing. He's been fouling off a lot, and showing good pateince yet. This is at least what I think I see, I'm not sure where to find P/PA splits or in a game log. EDIT: Do dive a little deeper, he's hitting less line drives and groundballs, and more flyballs, up to 40.9% from 32% of the last two years. That might be fine if he wasn't missing some power from his injured wrist, his HR/FB ratio is down to 7.5% from the 12.4% of seasons past. He's missing 3 hits, and 3 HR. EDIT 2: This isn't really meant to inspire confidence in Rickie, just presenting the stats. Even if he gets the small bump up to what he "should" have, he'd still be underpreforming to his expectations and to league average.
  9. SHUCKS! This trade would have been perfect. Its what I suggested in the Otsuka thread. Why not expand it a little and grab Lofton, who they won't really be needing if they get Gwynn. Add something to our side. Or Hart to CF! Man, what a horrible time for an injury.
  10. We will know upon the conclusion of his time in Milwaukee. He's only 1/8th into his contracted tenure.
  11. The only story that immediately comes to my mind was this recent one: LINK
  12. Well, we'd have to lose 12 to become .500, therefore, 12 over .500.
  13. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.......
  14. They steal signs!
  15. I'll thrid the Villanueva for Vargas swap. However, I think it would be best to try and trade Vargas before we just pen him. Demoting him would kill his value, and I believe its very likely we will trade him before next opening day.
  16. Today on the Dan Patrick Show he said there would be an announcement tomorrow. Then, before he signed off, he said it was not regarding the Price Is Right.
  17. I've never heard of this show. What channel, what time? Can someone give a brief description of the premise?
  18. I think whizkid has it pegged. Three Brewers in, one in the final vote (likely JJ). Thirded. It'll be hard to beat Hardy in the final vote, if it comes down to that.
  19. Wow, I'm kind of impressed with the guy we got, his stats at least. He's a little old for his level probably, but he is dominating it. 1.63 GB/FB 5.56 K/BB 8.49 K/9
  20. Gwynn for Otsuka, I'm all for it, I'd even give a little more. A little? Texas may not even value Gwynn highly and Otsuka will be in fairly high demand. It's likely gonna take close to a blue chip prospect in return and that isn't Gwynn. That's funny, when people were offering Parra for Otsuka I thought they weren't even close. I certianly think Gwynn can be overrated as a prospect, but I think he can have a lot of value to the right team. Texas needs OFers, and they signed Lofton to a 1-year deal in the offseason, meaning they like that skill-set.
  21. I have an exciting announcement. I found out that if you google "reak of pork" this thread is at the top of the list! Probably because its "reek", not "reak".
  22. You get in a simulated fight with the catcher. Zambrano probably should do this in his sessions, just in case.
  23. You reak of pork! So that's where that smell is coming from. Take a shower, Brian!
  24. Lofton and Otsuka would be a near perfect deadline acquisition...but it would take Gwynn and other fine prospects, without a doubt. To clarify, I don't want Loften really, but Texas will need a replacement for him. Gwynn would be perfect. Solid prospect, huge name recognition, he's pretty much blocked for four years here. Gwynn for Otsuka, I'm all for it, I'd even give a little more.
