  1. There's been talk the Jazz (5th, 23rd, 35th) might look to package their picks to move up. Would the 2nd pick be enough to acquire all 3 of their picks? What else do you think the Bucks might have to add to the deal to receive all 3 picks? I would be a big fan of a deal acquiring all 3 of the Jazz' selections. I'd target Randle or Exum (whichever drops to 5) as Parker plays the same position as Giannis, and a Knight/Exum backcourt I think could really score and would provide some height with both being ball handlers. If Randle was the pick, hopefully he'd be a 18/10 PF type bruiser inside which the team really needs. Henson and Sanders are so skinny, would be nice to have some bulk up front. With already having the 31, 36, and 48, if they could add those two extra selections, they could either load up on talent (but I don't think there are many roster spots open right now), or make some deals for 2015 picks, or package multiple selections to move back up in the draft this year. If they stand pat at 2, I'm really hoping it's Wiggins. I think his game will really excel in the league.
  2. With Mark Jackson being fired by GS, does anyone think he would be interested in the Milwaukee HC job? I know Drew is still the coach, but maybe with the new ownership group, they'd look to bring in a new GM, new coach, and hopefully first pick in the 2014 draft. Knight, Wiggins/Parker, Giannis, Henson, Sanders. Would Jackson be interested in coaching that group?
  3. What about Michael Cuddyer of the Rockies? He should be playing 1b and not the OF. In the last year of his contract with the Rockies making $10.5M this season. I think it'd be safe to say he would hit at least .275/.350/.450 after coming off a .331/.389/.530 with a wRC+ of 140 season with the Rockies last year and a hot start this season. What do you think the Crew would have to give up for him? Gomez / Segura / Braun / Ramirez / Cuddyer / Lucroy / Davis / Scooter is a pretty deep lineup although very right handed
  4. If the Brewers had a top notch 1B or 3B prospect, would you want to deal said prospect for a bunch of AAAA/AAA arms that weren't among that team's top pitching prospects? Let alone a team that is widely viewed as having a bottom 5 farm system.
  5. I'm not saying he's the same type of hitter, especially at his age, height, and weight, but his leg kick/timing mechanism really looks like what Alfonso Soriano does. Again, not comparing them as the same type of hitter or I think he could produce like Soriano, I just really thought his leg kick / back side gather is very similar to Soriano
  6. I don't know but maybe the .324 batting average in 200+ AB last year And Mike Trout hit .220/.281/.390 in his first year. Small sample size. I take last year's numbers with a grain of salt. The dude doesn't walk, and pitchers won't be afraid to pitch to him because he has no power. His minor league numbers aren't all that impressive, a very empty .300.
  7. I don't understand how Gennett is viewed as a possible full time 2b. He just doesn't impress me at all.
  8. University of Houston, Texas Tech, Rice University, University of Texas, Sam Houston State, and TCU are all playing 3 games over next weekend (Feb 28 - March 2). I work about a mile from Minute Maid and was wondering which teams have the most prospects to watch out for, and who some specific guys might be to see form those teams? I'm thinking about trying to catch a couple of the games next weekend, $36 general admission for all 9 games is hard to beat.
  9. Completely agree about Yuni over Francisco. The guy is awful, he sucks, he is terrible, etc etc. 273 PA, .200/.231/.338 and he's getting starts? This franchise/RRR/DM is a flippin joke.
  10. Sorry in advance, this is more thinking outloud, but what is the "depth chart" even looking like right now? Assuming Teague makes it to Milwaukee and Jennings is gone. PG: Teague / Ridnour / Ish Smith SG: Mayo / Wolters SF: Delfino / GreekFreak PF: Ersan / Henson / Gooden C: Sanders / Zaza / Udoh / Ayon Again, what's up with all of the dang PF and C types. I feel like Hammond has no idea how to put together a freakin roster.
  11. I think Skaggs is already currently better than Gallardo. I don't see the D-Backs doing that deal straight up.
  12. Trading away Gomez at this point would be awful for the franchise long term. Trading a guy who just signed a 3 year extension? Who would want to sign a contract with the Brewers at that point? Would be a terrible image for the team for both signing FA's and extensions for current players.
  13. I really don't care about Hellweg's K rate at this point. It is his BB rate that really concerns me. He's walking more than 1 guy every 2 innings. You can't succeed in the majors walking that many guys, especially with a low K rate.
  14. 1 Jimmy Nelson 2 Tyrone Taylor 3 Orlando Arcia 4 Mitch Haniger 5 Victor Roache 6 Devin Williams 7 Taylor Jungmann 8 Ariel Pena 9 Tyler Thornburg 10 Johnny Hellweg 11 Hunter Morris 12 Kentrail Davis 13 Clint Coulter 14 Tucker Newhaus 15 Jorge Lopez 16 Jose Pena 17 Drew Gagnon 18 Caleb Gindl 19 Scooter Gennett 20 Hiram Burgos 21 Jed Bradley 22 Khris Davis 23 Damien Magnifico 24 Josh Prince 25 Nick Ramirez The next tier to fill out a "Top 50" ... Long shots, but maybe they can help out the Brewers off the bench, as a RP, or as a #5 starter (In no real order) Rob Wooten Jesus Sanchez Sean Halton Nick Bucci Chris McFarland Michael Reed Max Walla Chadwin Stang Tyler Wagner Austin Blaski TJ Mittelstaedt Yadiel Rivera David Goforth Brooks Hall Tommy Toledo Brent Suter Chad Pierce Brock Kjeldgaard Jason Rogers Greg Holle Michael Olmsted Should probably throw a few of the other 2013 picks in here: Barrett Astin, Taylor Williams, Josh Uhen A few random notes: Reason I have Hellweg further down on the list than most others is his walk rate just scares me. I understand he doesn't give up many hits, but 44 bb:48 k in 70 IP keeps me from putting him any higher I think Roache is still knocking the rust off after basically having to sit out all of last year, his power potential is the reason I have him higher up on the list. I'm not a big Jungmann fan, but I believe he still has a decent shot at being a #3/4 SP, whereas I view Thornburg, Pena and Hellweg as longshots to stick in the rotation. Hopefully Devin Williams has the command and stuff to stay in the rotation, he's a long ways away obviously, but the reports are encouraging. Like the boom/bust pick by the Brewers Hopefully Jorge Lopez is finally putting all the pieces together, they said he was raw/a project when he was drafted. He's still only 20 Sounds like many people around the league think Coulter has no chance of staying behind the plate, would be nice if they would try him at 3B to see if he could handle the position. Then hope either he or Newhaus could pan out.
  15. The Brewers can go 5% over their bonus pool without losing a draft pick (pay 75% "tax" on the excess over the slot dollars). The BA link has the Brewers draft pool at $3,944,600. That # x 1.05 = 4,141,830. They have the bonuses handed out by the Brewers top 10 rounds at 3,855,300. 4,141,830 - 3,855,300 = 286,530. You can give a guy in rounds 11-40 $100k without it being counted against the bonus pool. With all of this, I believe they can give Denson a $386,530 bonus without losing a draft pick next year.
  16. That link shows the Brewers are $89k under budget after signing their top 10 picks?
  17. #Brewers GM Doug Melvin said on his WTMJ Radio show this morning that Corey Hart might not be back until after all-star break. From Tom H on Twitter. Way to go out and lose this years first round pick by signing Lohse, then completely abandon first base for the year. Milwaukee first basemen are hitting .183/.222/.280 on the year. That's freaking terrible, pitchers can hit better than that.
  18. What are the chances the Brewers are able to sign Denson? The picks in rounds 11-40 don't count against the pool unless they go over $100k, then the excess is counted towards the pool, correct? Will they be able to sign a few of the first ten picks under slot to build up enough of a bonus to offer Denson?
  19. Only reason I can think of for getting him is if they were looking to trade aram. With hart coming back and Morris mashing they don't need a 1b... The move didn't make much sense to me Hart hasn't even started a rehab assignment yet. You'd rather have Alex Gonzalez running out there every day playing 1B?
  20. I'm doing my grad-school down here at LSU, going to see the LSU - OU game tonight. Awesome match-up between Aaron Nola (SEC Pitcher of the Year) and Jonathan Gray (3rd overall pick in 2013 draft). Should be a great series as well, OU's top 2 pitchers have been drafted, and LSU has had 5 players taken so far in the first 9 rounds.
  21. I love how Lucroy made the call to the pen, RRR was too busy talkin to the ump
  22. If the Brewers would actually entertain the idea of dealing Braun, who says no to this deal: Boston receives : Ryan Braun Milwaukee receives: Xander Bogaerts, Garin Cecchini, Matt Barnes, Jonny Gomes, Mike Carp ?
  23. Oakland just DFA'd Daric Barton. Would sure be nice to pick him up and let go of Alex Gonzalez. Barton is a lefthanded career .248/.359/.370 hitter. With Yuni B coming back to his career norms, and A-Gon just being terrible this season, would be nice to have Barton over at first until Hart comes back.
  24. I'm going to preface this by saying I've never been much of a fan of Hart, but I can't wait until both he and A-Ram are in the lineup together. Aoki Segura Braun Ramirez Hart Gomez Weeks Lucroy Wow.
