  1. I, by no means, think this team can compete for a title or anything, but they should be a lot more exciting to watch than in the past few years. I would be even more excited if they were able to bring Sessions back, even if it was under the 1 year $1 million Q.O. Although, if they don't, they should be pretty decent 2 deep at each position, other than at C. I could see it being something like: C Bogut / Thomas PF Warrick / Ilyaslova SF Mbah a Moute / Delfino SG Redd / Meeks PG Ridnour / Jennings I also agree it'd be amazing if they could somehow deal Ridnour and bring Sessions back to clear up some P.T. at PG
  2. I believe you cannot submit an arby number that is less than 20% of the player's salary the previous year. So say Kendall is making $5.00 million this year, the Brewers couldn't submit an offer less than $4.00 million in an arbitration case this coming offseason
  3. Rolen and LaRussa hated each other I believe, not Jocketty
  4. i think a lot of his question marks were answered so far this year, he keeps progressing in a positive direction, while slowing building up his stamina as he's just missed the past 2 full seasons, i love the approach they've used for Rogers so far this year, and it sounds like his mechanics are much improved and that he's learned "how to pitch" of course, it will answer a lot more question once he gets a taste of AA to see how he does there (i'm guessing that won't be until next year however)
  5. well, of course if we do this, Ryan Braun goes back to 3B, right?
  6. What a waste trading for someone who is capable of playing 2b everyday, when we've already got Counsell, who had to decide between surgery right before the season, or just sucking it up and playing through the season - of course, he could play everyday from here on out. If we were going to trade for a 2B, why waste trading for one not named Chase Utley or Ian Kinsler, I mean, we're the Yankees and should only settle for an all All-Star lineup right?
  7. Rolen's been getting normal days off every now and then to stay healthy / productive
  8. I also don't know, out of all of the guys you mentioned, who is an upgrade over any of the 5 SP that started the year in the rotation, no one could have predicted Manny to be this bad this year, and Suppan's contract all but assured him a spot in the rotation. So if you had a rotation set with 5 guys (after signing Looper) why would any of those guys want to sign a contract anyway? They wouldn't want to go down to AAA to wait around and see if they'd get a shot at cracking the rotation at some point in the year. "It takes two to tango"
  9. I don't see how you can say the Rotation is a glaring need, and say our lineup isn't. There are way too many black holes in the lineup right now. Look at Kendall, Hardy, Hart, and Hall's numbers. If you want to bash on DM for the rotation, you should also bash him for not putting together a good lineup as well. If DM would do like you say, and deal prospects to patch holes, there wouldn't be any prospects left in a few years when we can't afford the young/cheap players on the team right now to replace them with. Then we'd be like the Pirates/Old Brewers and suck for another 20 years, just for a shot at possibly going for it again this year.
  10. Have had a good week so far, Sunday (wooden bat league by Riverside HS) won 10-0, Monday night won 13-5 I believe, and last night won 15-0, can't complain about two shutouts in a week span
  11. What about Felipe Lopez? The Diamondbacks are already out of it, and he's signed to only a one year deal, and only 29 years old. I know he's been a bit banged up lately, but he'd be a nice spark at the top of the lineup like Weeks was, I'm not sure what the D-backs would want in return, seeing he's a FA after this year, I guess it depends if they think he'll be a type A, B, or receive no compensation. He's currently hitting .323/.380/.485/.865 through 167 ABs, and last year in 43 games with the Cardinals, he had an OPS .100 above that. He's always a switch hitter which would also be nice.
  12. why does Gerut as the DH make you puke, when Bill Hall is in the lineup instead vs a RHP? that doesn't make any sense to me.... Gerut's bat over Hall's bat more than makes up for Gamel's D vs Hall's D i would think
  13. I'm not saying he's going to turn into Hanley Ramirez, I think his ceiling for power is probably about 15 hr/season in his prime, but Hanley really didn't put up eye-popping numbers in the minors either, the kid is still so young and maturing/filling out and creating more power while being one of the youngest in every stop he's been at. In the off-season, someone on this board (sorry, I can't remember who) pulled out an article from when Jose Reyes was at about the same point in his career as Escobar is now, and the current articles about Escobar are eeirly similar. Now I'm not saying he'll turn into Reyes either, but the potential is sure there. Instead of all of these "all hit - no glove" prospects coming up through our system over the last five years, it's nice to finally have a gold glove caliber guy coming up at a premium defensive position. I sure hope he gets a shot to be the starting SS in Milwaukee at some point in the near future, be it 2010 or 2011. Especially if he gets a full season of seasoning in AAA this year, I think he can improve his hitting and hit about .290/.340/.400 in the majors, and would be real nice if he could steal at a 80% clip and swipe 30 bags a year as well
  14. i would be in for 2 balls, maybe more
  15. Marquette's senior week activities included a Brewer tail-gait today through a bar on campus, so I'm guessing that should boost attendance a little
  16. Hardy has looked terrible in the field this year, and Manny doesn't trust his stuff at all does he?
  17. One of the best pieces of advice I've heard came in one of my last classes before I graduated this past December. I was in a personal finance class and had a speaker come in, and his suggestion for budgeting money was this: After taxes try and budget your money in the following : 55% on necessities, 10% play (just blow it/have fun money), 10% for future education, 10% for retirement, save 10% for something in mind long term, like a new tv, furnature, etc., 5% give away (charities, etc) just my 2 cents
  18. Regarding the error, not that it's an excuse or anything, but it surely doesn't help that Prince throws like a girl, why couldn't he have made a nice throw and hit him in the chest with a solid throw instead of throwing a gravity ball to his feet?
  19. yeah, just walk around the parking lot / around the stadium before the game and there will be plenty of tickets to be had, at least that's what I experienced down there last year, we scalped tickets to get into the game at LAA actually
  20. i maybe interested, what's the location of the park?
  21. I only saw him last year during Spring Training, but based on that and all of the reports I've read about him over the past year, he seems like he could be like another Mike Cameron, great defense in his prime, good HR potential as well as SB, could be a 25/25 or maybe even 30/30 guy (ok, that's probably wishful thinking, but who knows), but will probably struggle with average, maybe a .270 hitter? I would be very very happy if he could be the starting CF starting in 2011 and give a .270 25hr 25sb line with great defense
  22. The same reason why braun is moving back to 3B - there is no reason for Escobar to move to 2B
  23. what about Hardy for Verlander? they're having troubles filling SS
