  1. Ok, so taking this mock as it stands now 1-30...who are the next 6-7 guys in line for the Brewers to take at 32 and 35?
  2. Nelson called up, Breslow passed over, and Julian Tavarez signed...we will see how this one pans out...
  3. Piccione, Armchair GMs love deals, God knows I do...and PF is a big chip to throw out on the table...plus if he does not sign (Boras makes it seem like he won't) he is sort of like Carlos Lee was before he got shipped to TEX--though granted, wayyyy earlier than CLee was as PF has yet to hit arby time...furthermore...we have some minor holes that could be taken care of by sending one guy away for 3-4 studs, and in his place new and exciting studs of our own...all of which can play some 1B...lastly...his money coming to him next year could be thrown at Sheets to see if he will stay for a huge offer or maybe he will get traded too... El Caballo45...THANK YOU!! That is exactly what I am talking about on this site... I think TGJr to SD for RWolf and a ptbnl is a lot closer to what is going to happen... Why would AZ deal now for anything? Why mess with the magic that is rolling their way?
  4. 09:$2.65M, 10:$4.25M, 11:$6.25M club option for Matt Cain is not expensive... 09:$12.5M, 10:$12.5M, 11:$12.75M for Jeff Suppan is expensive... Sorry folks, once again, spare parts for studs and future studs is not going to work...
  5. No one wanted CVargas and I mean not one single GM was going to give GM DM a bag o' balls for him...his salary was not trade-worthy and if he wasn't good enough for any other pro team...why should he have been good enough for this one?
  6. Anyone, Quick question...does SLG% take into account stolen bases? If not, isn't a stolen base from 1st to 2nd like hitting a double? 2nd to 3rd like hitting a triple? I like OBP, SLG, and OPS...but was just wondering about this point...thanks Rousie
  7. I heart Scott Bittle and would lobby for him to be taken over Scott Gorgen in the battle of Scott's with 90-ish fastballs and great secondary pitches...
  8. So it would be pretty much a positionless Dunn playing for half a year and then bringing back 2 high draft picks in exchange for Bill Hall...A Prince Fielder trade would have to happen first...
  9. Fleehaw...don't forget the Rays and all that pitching that is maturing and matriculating and a very nice clip in the minors...it will be even better if Fielder is not traded till '10... Gopher...When I said I am glad I am not the only one thinking this way, I was referring to trading some of the arby ready first generation studs away for pitching...but I didn't articulate my full thought there and just went straight into the trade ideas....(I love this idea...Clayton Kershaw+Johnathan Broxton+Andy LaRoche for Prince Fielder and 2 prospects in the 6-12 type range...I just think that Weeks for Cain as well would be equally great and allow Escobar, Iribarren, Hardy and Hall to fight it out for middle inf AB's and $$$...) But I will throw out three years worth of stats and say that Weeks still hasn't done much of anything and is already approaching arbitration...rah...so you think I threw out one stat and said,"see, he is bad"...how is that any different from you throwing out one stat and saying,"see, he is awesome"... I will go with what twobrewers is saying 2 quotes below yours and say once more...I am glad that I am not the only one thinking this way...
  10. Weeks and Fielder gets it done and I am glad I am not the only one thinking like this...to me Weeks is overrated and others might be into what could be...slickfielding infielders and awesome pitching beat out .235 avg and getting sent down in the autumn. End of '09 or end of '10 would give Weeks ANOTHER year to prove he can be Dan Uggla...
  11. With the recent stress fracture to Tanner Scheppers' shoulder and viral infection plaguing Zach Putnam's playing time and stats, I was wondering how far, if at all, will either player drop?
  12. twobrewers... i was working under the assumption that LaPorta will move CHart to CF and Cameron's extension will not be picked up...having Braun/Fielder/LaPorta at 3/4/5 is something I am really looking forward to... Gamel may indeed be the 3B of the future and I would LOVE for his production to continue in Miller Park...but all I was doing was making a case for Gamel + to SEA for Clement as a catcher and keeping LaPorta in MLW.
  13. How about Gamel headliner package for Clement instead of LaPorta... They both have huge upsides and LaPorta seems to be tagged as a RF meaning he is about a year away the way he is mashing and fielding...Gamel might not play third and may have to play 1B/DH which is fine in Seattle but not so good here, now.
  14. Peavey is dead on...think Weeks and a player for Cain...then Escobar/Hardy/Hall/Iribarren/outsider via trade can fight it out for the SS-2B combo of the future...it makes a lot of sense...and improves our defense, keeps payroll in line, and adds a very young, strong arm already under contract for years... now only if Sabean plays ball... rouse
  15. Nice, thank you...with that being said...where do you think Bittle will go? 40-55? Earlier? Later? Also...while i have you here, it seems like a forgone conclusion to me that if Brewer scouts are coaching Hicks...not unlike NFL coaches coaching Hula Bowl or Senior Bowl players...then they know all the in's and out's of him and will be wanting him as the Brewers #1 pick? Yes? Thanks again for the great reads and resources...Rouse
  16. Is Ole Miss's Scott Bittle draft eligible?
  17. Yes, maybe so...but it is true...instead of trying to deal our trash for other teams' treasure why not dig in and get guys that might not surrender 19 runs...Why would anyone want Turnbow at any price now? Houston is really going to deal within the division? and if so...trade the recently re-signed Roy O?? Also i would hesitate to say that we have too much pitching...we may have a number of arms...but never enough pitching (at any level)...
  18. There are pitchers out there that don't have ERAs (career or otherwise) north of 5.00, that are not on this roster, can be had cheap (again...we all have a different definition of cheap...think Katin plus a body), and could be put to good use on this roster... buy low, sell high...that philosophy could be in play even as contenders... I think that McClung and Turnbow throw hard and that is good, and all but not foolproof...a Joe Nelson type player could be brought in and do the work that everyone was planning LPena or SBray to do later on this year... You can never have enough arms and now that he is back to snuff...why not? As a side note...I know it is not a sexy trade but a whole lot closer to reality than a lot of the posts on this site...
  19. Joe Nelson, the former KC Royal reliever is now in the minors with the Marlins and off the 40 man roster...send some kids (Katin and BNelson or Brantley or......?) to FL and we can pick up a player that seems to be back and can work magic, Doug Jones style... Another arm with something of a history of success might be just what we need at the back end of the pen... Thoughts? Rousie
  20. If we are always going to have an inning eating long man (Dessens, Spurling, McClung) then why not give it to someone like Sarfate, Thatcher, or Bray?
  21. Why aren't more people talking up the sweet Sexson trade...anyone remember his short term stats in AZ or the fact that HE WAS LEAVING ANYWAY? Just as he left AZ?!
  22. Weeks, LPena, and Gamel brings HStreet and a #5 type pitcher, not Blanton....keep in mind that Beane wanted Joba and Ian for Blanton not too long ago...
  23. Brewers finish 3rd in the NL Central...and not a close 3rd at that... Two starters in the opening day rotation will not finish the year in the rotation... Someone of significant relevance (starter, big deal pitcher) gets shipped off... last year was the year boys...Rousie
  24. Estrada was need because he could squat and hit...that was enough to get the trade done...it didn't work out so well, but unless you were going to have Davis catch...something had to be done...and yes, we had Damien Miller but he was not/is not starting 135+ game material anymore. It was a stopgap deal and for it we did not have to extend DDavis. cheers...rouse
  25. Pitching and catching should dominate early picks and after the initial run creates a disproportionate amount of field players, then the "Best player on the Board" theory should kick in... just my thoughts...with pitching and catching you can trade for anything. Rousieboy
