  1. I am not so quick to agree here... The way GM DM has been moving it seems that he wants a vet rotation (btw, unless Mota shows up in AZ and plays like A. Benitez part 2...he is gone...) This is not my dream roster, it is what is in place... Yeah, yeah, yeah, if Parra is good and the rest of the world (Cappy) sucks THEN he will get a shot at starting...this team has a window and it is going to start 2008 with vets...period... have a nice day...EOD...Rouse
  2. We are keeping the pitching and GM DM is going to let JK do some catcher magic and get the vet starters back where they should be before Estrada derailed them... Sheets Suppan Bush Yo Cappy (or if he starts like he ended, Parra) Gagne-9th Torres-8th/9th Turnbow-7th/8th middle guys-- CVilla (should start and have Bush go here but I Bush gets every look as a starter) Riske Shouse as the LOOGY (or Choate if Shouse shows his age) CVargas is the new Spurling, except he is qualified to come in and not give up the farm when a game gets loose. McClung is not worth the paper this is not printed on. If everyone didn't want to trade for prospects then you should not be surprised that a lot of kids (Parra, ZJ, LPena, Stetter) don't get time until someone sucks or gets traded... Eat innings boys...eat 'em up! Rouse
  3. We don't have a #2...we have a #1 and 4 4's...and until they start pitching to reflect otherwise I stand by this... What have they done for me lately...
  4. GM DM handled things well like an old pro does...what Cody becomes could be closer to Woolard than CVilla but it's good to get Yo a place to show his stuff and keep his innings down...and to show Cappy the door. I think that if Yo's WHIP and ERA stay low he will be more than a mop up guy and might evolve into a Wise sub by the end of the year...only to start next year... As far as Dessens "injury" situation is concerned...the fake injury/DL listing was perfected by the mid 80's Celtics ("Hey, Greg Kite, you just pulled your hamstring.")...and my initial thought as well...but if he still cannot pitch...maybe not so fake...
  5. Great stats and you can tack on 2 more spankings to that....
  6. Premature and considering what is going on this weekend...not cool...
  7. I am so tired of this... He is not a lefty/ He throws right... Yeah and so what...if his pitch selection/arm angle/ the way he wears his cup makes it difficult for lefties to hit him then all the better.... Otsuka and AReyes have great numbers vs. LH batters and on occasion can get a righty out as well... jeez people...
  8. If this goes one or two innings i think Bush would still be better Sunday than CVargas...
  9. I started this just out of speculation...I feel compelled to add on that I am not one of the "hang Mench" guys so I am not oscillating from one extreme to the other based on OPS. Mench has been pretty decent in LF with the D and does his job on occasion vs LHP. That being said Graff is on fire, the infield is full, and if Mench was packaged for a LF that could get some OBP and/or bat higher in the order then I would not be opposed to that either. (Reggie Sanders is not that person) My head is level during this long season, thanks for asking, but I would like to squeeze the most out of this impressive run while we can...I am just throwing it out there. In hindsight, 38 is a lil old to start a new position...and we do have a ton of OF already...Don't be surprised to see Graffy off the bench or Weeks to get more than the occasional day off after the 3 games in Wrigley. rouse
  10. ...is it that insane of a notion to platoon with Jenkins; I mean it would not be that often...and yeah he has not really ever played there, but that didn't stop them with BHall... just trying to get a hot bat some ABs... thoughts? PS...If this is in the wrong topic or is being discussed elsewhere then I am sorry I didn't mean any harm...rouse
  11. Would you settle for a guy that can get LH hitters out or does it HAVE to be a prototypical LOOGY like Orosco, Stanton, MMyers??? Al Reyes can be had to go with our changeup artists and Shouse as guys that can get lefties out... get out of the box...
  12. I like the baseball cube (the one at sports-wired.com) for it's depth and ability to track a players transaction history... Mike Caldwell was traded for Willie McCovey type of useless knowledge...they also track the draft history pretty well too...
  13. Hart Weeks Braun PF BHall Hardy Menchkins Estrada OR Hart Hardy PF BHall Braun Weeks Menchkins Estrada Moving PFielder up to the 3slot gets him significantly more atbats and having weeks and Braun together in either lineup seems like a lot of raking potential...just my two cents...thanks
  14. You had a better idea in Wigginton (as he can spell RWeeks' wrist and possibly hit lefties while playing LF...speculation there) and maybe Al Reyes.. I think that GM DM thinks too highly of TGJ to let him just walk for a rental but you are correct in adding a prospect with some name value to have after Brad has walked... Wiggy over Wilky
  15. rightie batter looked better vs. Sanchez' splits...oh well...end it...
  16. Holy cow...last time i post without checking the schedule..i get it (some of us jobs now... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif )...but i think you guys see the direction of my thoughts... weeks between hart and braun for a few games?
  17. Does Weeks bat 2nd tomorrow? That would be sweeeeettt...!
  18. Although it seems counterintuitive, older pitchers are less subject to injury than younger ones. There are some confounding variables with that statement, that while it may be true, doesn't necessarily accurately provide the info it was intended to. Just for starters...all the older pitchers that are more subject to injuries most likely got washed out when they on their way to becoming older pitchers. After that it gets a lil psychobabblie but you understand my point...
  19. baseballamerica.com has his name in bold type denoting that he has signed. Anything staged is just hype, but welcomed hype all the same.
  20. (he was a 1st round pick, and at the time you proposed that deal, he probably couldn't even have been traded yet.) No it was after the 1 year draft trade moritorium had been lifted on the 2004 draft class...but you are right he was far from being a nobody...but so was Prince and this was before they traded for Casey, and after CPena kinda flopped... but interesting all the same...
  21. But maybe the best player taken after the 10th round that year...maybe.
  22. a couple of years ago I floated the idea of trading PFielder for Catcher Chris Shelton, JVerlander, and CF Nook Logan... I wonder what would be thought of that trade now, HAD it gone through... anyone??
  23. I would be interested to see Wiggington in LF vs LHP...he has a OPS right now of .977 vs lefties...versitility is nice...make it a bigger deal by including Bush and getting Reyes also and you would have me sold... Bush/Graffy/ZachJack for Wigg/Reyes... that would grab me...rouse
  24. If you look at Otsuka's numbers against lefties then you would see a gem... it might take a lot to get him but with two years arby left and with closing potential it might be worth it... Bush/ZachJack/Aquino/ Ptbnl for Otsuka call Yo up to start for Bush and let Otsuka be a LOOGY in disguise/late inning reliever...and then pray for hits with runners on...btw, we are stuck with BHall in CF regardless.
