  1. Sardinas could easily displace Luis Jimenez imo. you'd put hunter morris ahead of luis jimenez on the depth chart--knowing you'd still have matt clark and jason rogers on the 40-man? i think hunter morris will be outrighted.
  2. this thread wasn't updated when shane peterson was claimed. that move put the 40-man roster at capacity. when today's trade of yovani gallardo with texas is made official, one spot will have to be cleared for the two players with major league contracts (infielder luis sardinas and pitcher corey knebel).
  3. it appears that knebel and sardinas will enter 2015 spring training with two minor league options remaining. sardinas had his contract purchased by texas on 20 november 2013, and was optioned in 2014. knebel had his contract purchased by detroit on 23 may 2014, and was optioned by both detroit and texas in 2014.
  4. don't waiver claims cost the team $25,000 or $50,000?
  5. ben hendrickson for maxim st. pierre. should've traded for ben hendrickson's father instead.
  6. fans are so desperate for news on brewers moves that this transaction of minor leaguers was posted in the major league forum. alfredo figaro is envious.
  7. jarret martin had his contract purchased by the dodgers on 20 november 2013, and was optioned to the minors on 14 march 2014. he was designated for assignment by the dodgers on 22 november 2014. if the brewers add martin to the 40-man roster, he would have two minor league options remaining.
  8. he's out of minor league options, so the club risks losing him if he doesn't make the cut. hector gomez and luis jimenez are out of options as well, so that affects how the opening day roster takes shape.
  9. keep an eye on velez in the tampa bay organization. he signed a minor league deal with them.
  10. presumably, this is a major league contract. i hope it is, as it keeps a 40-man roster spot from somebody who's likely better.
  11. wow. sean halton and kentrail davis both plucked in aaa phase of rule 5. yes . . . the aaa outfield is quite thin right now.
  12. sean halton taken by the baltimore orioles in the aaa phase of the rule 5 draft.
  13. $30 million signing bonus?!?!?!?!?!?
  14. http://blogs.mprnews.org/newscut/2014/12/why-torii-hunters-views-on-gays-matter/
  15. ryan braun is in milwaukee today. says his thumb is 100% and that the surgery definitely worked.
  16. first the red sox for hitting coach, now the rays for manager. i think craig has earned the nickname of the pullout king.
  17. counsell evidently values being able to counsel his fellow council in the front office, as he has removed himself from consideration for the rays' managerial position.
  18. it's a full roster with the addition of rhp david goforth. it should be noted that the brewers are currently carrying three utility-type players all out minor league options in hector gomez, elian herrera and luis jimenez. it's a long shot for all three (if all healthy) to make the club out of spring training.
  19. plus the claiming team has to pay the original team $50,000, which may not seem like a lot until you think of it as giving up 50,000 brad millses.
  20. richie sexson came to mind. i had to look this up: pat listach brought bob wickman, and the club later got richie sexson for bob wickman. sexson brought craig counsell and lyle overbay. lyle overbay brought dave bush, and opened the first base job to prince fielder. (obviously, additional players were included in these transactions, but there were the players of significance.)
  21. three players added to the 40-man roster today to protect them from the upcoming rule 5 draft. infielder yadiel rivera, rhp taylor jungmann and lhp michael strong were all added and will enter 2015 spring training with three minor league options. the roster stands at 39.
  22. does this thread need to be retitled now that we know that the brewers never claimed another de los santos?
  23. it's reported that the brewers are among the list of teams in justin upton's no-trade list.
  24. sunday 19 july is khris davis bobblehead day. i know the team has had a bobblehead day or two for a player that's left the organization, but have they ever had a bobblehead day for a player while he's been optioned to the minors?
