  1. you're thinking about the 30-day disabled list. that's the most recently, uh, disabled disabled list.
  2. i found it telling that last night both braddock (2.0 innings)and kintzler (2.2 innings) were used for as long as they were. it almost seemed as if the brewers had expected that both saito and hart would be activated on wednesday and that both braddock and kintzler would be optioned to nashville, returning to a 12-man pitching staff. if braddock isn't on the bubble right now, he certainly was used yesterday as if he was. if braddock is still on the roster when parra comes back, it's bye-bye braddock until he gets his velocity back up..
  3. not sure which game it was, but a fan was asked to remove his sign expressing his feelings about molitor, and he also may have been escorted from county stadium. what did the sign say? money over loyalty is the only reason
  4. tonight's t-shirt toss has been canceled. the brewers have declined to comment, but a stadium insider reports that there's nothing available to launch into the stands.
  5. mitch stetter had his contract purchased on 1 september 2007, the day when rosters could be expanded to 40. he made his major league debut that day. he finished the season on the big league roster. he bounced between nashville and the mlb club in 2008, using his first option year. he spent all of 2009 with the big league club. he had two stints with the big league club in 2010, but spent the majority of the season in nashville. that burned his second option year. he has been with the big league club the entire season thus far, with his third and final minor league option year still intact.
  6. maybe not this year, but consider braun's chances if albert pujols signs with an american league team . . . and while nothing is on the radar, it is possible that mlb could expand again, which would dilute every team's pitching via the expansion draft. offensive studs like braun could really go to town on weakened pitching staffs.
  7. If say Weeks and Betancourt were both hurt during a game, we could simply move McGehee to 2nd, put Counsell at SS, and Braun could come in to play 3B. It would only be for a few innings most likely anyway, and the next day we'd just call someone up. that lack of infield depth frightens me, especially when it's in the form of a player as old as counsell. i'd really like a lopsided game soon where almonte gets in at short or third in the later innings, just to see how he fares out there.
  8. if fielder was struck by lightening, he'd most definitely be more nimble and a better defensive player.
  9. if you're brandon boggs, nothing's official until the paperwork is completed. he was told he would make the team out of spring training, only to have newly acquired nyjer morgan derail those plans.
  10. the red sox had intended to outright george kottars to the minor leagues when the brewers acquired him via a waiver claim. he spent the rest of his time in the brewers organization on the major league roster. once again, george kottaras was exposed to waivers, but this time, no team claimed him, and he was outrighted to the minor leagues. if his contract is purchased by the brewers again and they attempt to remove him from the 40-man roster a second time and assign him to the minor leagues, he has the option of refusing the minor league assignment and becoming a free agent . . . assuming no other team claims him and places him on their 25-man roster.
  11. the roster's been at 39 since the brewers outrighted jeremy reed. roster outrighting is all about timing. the brewers must have felt that given the state of the 25-man and 40-man rosters of the 29 other teams, that very few teams would be willing to sacrifice someone else to claim kottaras. remember, had another team claimed kottaras, they would have had to place him on their 25-man roster, or risk exposing him to the same waivers that they plucked him from.
  12. bring up mat gamel for one day and send him down before marcum's start. i'd love the threat of his bat on the bench tomorrow night.
  13. per mccalvy, sergio mitre is unavailable today due to that double-play ball hitting him in the triceps above the right elbow. he predicted some roster moves based on that (and the burden placed on the bullpen in yesterday's extra-inning affair and sunday's doubleheader). justin james appears to be the only reliever on the 40-man roster that is fresh (last pitching on 13 april). mike mcclendon just pitched two-plus innings on sunday. of course, the brewers have a 40-man spot open and could purchase the contract of another pitcher.
  14. two for the price of one tomorrow, with the second game beginning 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first . . . with that loss of revenue, how are the nationals going to pay jayson werth?
  15. i get wevr fm 106.3 in my house in south minneapolis and i live west of 35w. if i wasn't using a c. crane company radio, there's no way i'd pull in the signal. if i recall correctly, am 1500 ceases broadcasting at some point early in the night hours, forcing you to switch to the fm dial.
  16. assuming yesterday's postponed game isn't played this week, is marco estrada skipped again? http://milwaukee.brewers....chers/index.jsp?c_id=mil
  17. wow. the brewers are traveling with jonathan lucroy, wil nieves, george kottaras, marcus hanel, bill schroeder and bob uecker. that's a lot of backstops.
  18. i'm now thinking it's sergio mitre to pitch tonight, with a recalled pitcher to come in for a few innings (or serve as a fresh arm tomorrow). i'm thinking the brewers are counting on mitre to pitch four or five innings, and then let relievers take care of the rest. marco estrada comes up after lucroy is activated and one of the current catchers is outrighted off the 40-man roster.
  19. boiling some brats in beer and grilling them in my backyard prior to the game. then i'll see how clear the wevr signal (hudson, wi) comes in to minneapolis . . . or tune in to bob & cory via gameday audio. i prefer the former, because it's closest to real time.
  20. it was on this date in 1970 (quite late in the evening) that bud selig learned that he and his group had acquired the seattle pilots and that in scant days, the team would be re-christened at milwaukee county stadium as the american league milwaukee brewers. thank you, mr. selig. words alone cannot express what you have done for all of us.
  21. i'm just hoping lucroy makes it back april 6th. it allows the brewers to outright either kottaras or nieves and (conveniently) open up a roster spot for marco estrada (who seems to have earned the start that day). otherwise, i'm predicting that the brewers will outright kottaras or nieves on april 6th, recall martin maldonado, purchase the contract of marco estrada and option a relief pitcher.
  22. why wouldn't it be a backdated disabled list stint? can't they find enough simulated game action for him and target lucroy's activation for april 6th?
  23. with luis cruz outrighted to the minors today, the roster is at 39. presumably, that final spot will be filled by erick almonte, barring any further trades or waiver claims.
