  1. So we are somehow blaming the manager for bunting with his #2 hitter in a tie game with Braun & Fielder up next? Thats practically the ideal scenario to lay down a bunt, especially since Morgan can't hit lefties worth a lick.
  2. I really hope RR is as sick of watching Gomez at the plate as we are. He is awesome to watch in the field but good gracious. Outside of a 5 game stretch he has been brutal. I really hope Morgan is starting tommorrow.
  3. McGehee is really frickin slow. Prince would beat him in a foot race for sure
  4. Now that we are facing four pitchers in ATL that we can't reasonably expect to crush the ball against we will probably win 3 out of 4 and score 40 runs in the series. That is just how the Crew rolls.
  5. The "We Traded for Grienke" Thread was 30 pages; a thread about the crappiness or lackthereof of Yuni is 26 pages. Does anyone else see a problem with this?
  6. I still expect STL to crash back down to earth in a hard way. Their pitching simply isn't this good and obviously Holliday and especially Berkman aren't going to hit .400 all year. I am sure they will be in contention all year but at this point I refuse to believe that they are any better than us.
  7. If Hawkins and Saito could turn into there former selves we would have a pretty awesome back 4 in the bullpen
  8. The way Lucroy and Gomez are hitting right now they should really be ahead of Kotsay & Betancourt. I look forward to this lineup hopefully being the last dreadful lineup this year. Its amazing what one player (Hart) can do to make a whole lineup look better. It would be even more amazing if Gomez can keep his performance up for an extended period of time.
  9. That quite possibly could have been Gomez's best 3 game stretch as a Brewer. Even his outs were not typical Gomez outs; he very easily could have had 2 more hits (The bunt and liner to 3rd on Saturday) and a couple more walks (The strike call on Friday comes to mind). Now if he could bottle even half of his performance this weekend into a season; he would be an All Star.
  10. This is a meh decision. LuCroy will play 4 out of 5 games anyways. Nieves can't hit so him only playing every 5-6 days can't make him any worse. Kottaras probably needs some more regular at bats. The back up catcher never pinch hits either so the lack of offense doesn't bother me. Even in his very limited playing time this year, Nieves has done "alright" with the bat. A .700 OPS would be good enough for me out of the backup catcher; heck if manages .650 over the course of the year I would be fine. Besides its not like Kottaras has proven to be a good hitter anways. He has more potential but we haven't seen the results. Hawkins up and McClendon down is a no brainer that is fine decision.
  11. 5-10 year from now, $19 Million a year will still be a bargain if he keeps up his current production. He sure as heck is worth $19 Million right now. He will be 36 when this is up which isn't an awful age. He could still be very productive into his Mid-30's. Now we need to hope and pray that he stays healthy; $19 Million stuck on a 30+ year old inury prone outfielder would put the Crew in a horrible position.
  12. Fielder was dead last last year in MLB on going from 1st to 3rd on a single. That doesn't scream "Good Baserunner" to me. He went from 1st to 3rd single exactly one time last year. That being said he doesn't make too many stupid mistakes either.
  13. I have really liked RR so far. Obviously he has not been perfect but in general I think he has done alright. As he gets more experience I think is bullpen usage substitution strategies will be improved. The problem right now is that he has very limited choices when filling out his lineup card. He has to play Gomez every day and he has to play Kotsay or Almonte every day. When you have to huge holes it creates unavoidable line up problems. Going into April everyone was just hoping to be .500 coming out of this month; well we are 9-8 right now with 5 games against Houston and 3 against the struggling Reds. Everyone should be very happy where we are and I think RR deserves some credit for keeping the boat from sinking.
  14. It sure seems that Yuni has had some bad luck with the bat so far this year. He seems to hit a couple balls hard every game but he is barely above the mendoza line. Gomez on the other hand has definitely earned his sub .200 average. He is pretty good at putting together some awful at bats. But like everyone else has said; we don't have any other options until Morgan & Hart are healthy. Gomez would be an ideal late game pinch runner or defensive substitution. Other than that he probaby won't hold much value to the team once everyone is healthy. The most satisfying win of the year for sure; just a great effort all the way around.
  15. I remember a couple times where we stayed 2 hours after the game ended and we weren't even close to the last ones left.
  16. That Nationals lineup is just not very good. I am pretty optimistic about this game. Amazing to think we could be tied for 1st after today. Part of me just thinks that RR is giving Carlos Gomez enough ooporuntiies early in the year so that if he sucks he will have no problems just plugging in PLush when Hart comes back. I think he knows what he has in PLush and if Gomez doesn't show anything in the next two weeks he becomes the 4th outfielder.
  17. In the back of all of our minds we are just hoping Fielder ends up in a place like Baltimore so we can still cheer for him. If for whatever reason he would sign with the Yanks, Red Sox, or heaven forbid the Cubs or Cardinals; we would have to hate the guy. I like Prince so I am hoping he goes to a team that isn't directly competing with the Brewers or a big market over exposed team that everyone just loves to hate anyways. I think the $22M per year is probably about right for Fielder but 7 years would be pushing it for him. No doubt that he will get it though.
  18. Channel 543 for those with Dish Network. Don't think I have ever seen that channel used before. Nevertheless a pleasant suprise. Wit the Bucks game, I was expecting to follow on Gameday
  19. So Weeks accounted for one bad play; Wolf still gave up two homers and 4 hits. The guy has been pathetic since the very start of spring training
  20. Figures; Gomez actually does something good and then immediately messes up again.
  21. I think if Fielder hits like he did last year we might be better off. When you couple his horrible RISP along with horrible defense and bad baserunning I think you very easily could improve the team by putting Gamel at 1st and using the $15M on an actual SS or CF or maybe even additional pitching. However if Prince can duplicate his 2009 then it would be a pretty tough argument to say we could improve the team by letting him go. In 2010 he had a .753 OPS with RISP and only 83 RBI's In 2010, when he was at first he only made it to 3rd base on a single 1 out of 51 times by far the worst mark in the league It goes without saying that he is a weak defensive 1st basemen. IMO we could replace 2010 Fielder pretty easily, 2009 notsomuch.
  22. Why SF there when the guy at the plate is probably the best option to drive the guy in? Its not like Braun & Fielder were up next. Just dumb
  23. I am fine with our lineup in the long run. Getting Hart & Lucroy back will eliminate 2 of the black holes and once Gomez wears out his welcome again we will have a pretty solid hitting CF as well. That leaves SS as the only major liability left and even Betancourt has potential to not be awful and will probably have better numbers that Escobar from last year. I know Lucroy didn't exactly light the world on fire last year but I am fairly confident he can at least break a .700 OPS which would be pretty good for a Brewers catcher considering our recent experiences. But right now that Kotsay, Betancourt, Nieves/Kottaras, and Pitcher part of the lineup is just brutal.
  24. They apparently evacuated areas around one power plant because the cooling system failed. I don't believe there are any reports of a radiation disaster though. Some of the pictures on the web are just amazing on this. If there is any good news on this it is that the hardest hit part was not heavily populated. If this had struck closer to Tokyo it could have been 10x worse. Its obviously still awful and puts a lot of things in perspective. Its times like this where I am happy I live in WI and only have to worry about snow and tornadoes.
