  1. If Marquette actually gets a #7 or an #8, I don't want to be the #1 or #2 who has to play them in the 2nd round. Even without James they are still pretty dangerous. But if Matthews and McNeal combine to shoot 5-25 or whatever in the tournament again they will be out pretty quick. They shot just awful all day, if it wasn't for 30+ FT's it would have been a blow out.
  2. It would be really nice to know what else we could be doing with Suppans $12M a year right now.
  3. It looks like today might be the final really cold day of the year. 10 day forecast shows everything atleast 30 degrees and most closer to 40+
  4. I kissed a Girl and I Liked It I don't know if this is up your alley or not but the Barney song wouldn't be a bad choice.
  5. If Hardy was a little bit faster he could easily be a Top #3-5 SS, but without the steals #7 is about right. I guess they are expecting Braun to have one heck of a year if they have him #2.
  6. Man I love that movie. I wish I would have had an adventure like that when I was a kid. I don't know anyone who played the piano though, so I certainly would have died.
  7. Nelson, Duffy, and McGehee have played their way on the roster for sure. Gwynn and Nixon haven't done anything to show they deserve a roster spot. Gwynn actually hasn't done anything at all. Considering Counsell is a lock for one back-up infielder spot, there are 10 locks so far (8 starters, Counsell, & Rivera). Duffy is adequate to cover CF, Nelson is adequate to cover LF, RF, and 1B, Counsell for SS, 2nd, or 3rd; and McGehee for 3rd (Although I heard he played a bit of 2nd cbase recently), and Rivera obviously is the back up catcher. So if Macha wants to carry 13 position players, Nelson, Duffy, and McGehee have to be the 3 front runners. If he only carries 12 I think McGehee is the odd man out since we already have Counsell to cover 3rd.
  8. Good outing by Mr. Bush, he is having a pretty good spring thus far. Also nice to see Prince and Gamel get off the schnide (SP? Is that even a word?) in the 4th inning. I am sick of Spring Training, it should just be April already
  9. Since we spent a lot of time talking about the Homebuyers credit in this topic I thought I would pass along this info. You won't be able to E-File the new $8,000 First Tim Home Buyers Tax Credit until March 30th. If you are claiming the 2008 credit you can E-File. I got this excerpt from Taxact.com UPDATE 3/11/09 The IRS has issued a statement that returns with Form 5405 claiming the First-Time Homebuyer Credit of $8,000 for homes bought in 2009, will be accepted electronically at the end of March. Please resubmit your return on Monday, March 30, 2009 after 6:00pm CST.
  10. Yeah I don't think there is anyway that Wisconsin doesn't make the tourney. I also think Penn State and Michigan will make it while Minnesota gets left out. Obviously if there are some more upsets in league tourneys this week things could change. March and April are by far my favorite sports months of the year. I love the NCAA tourney, IMO it is the best sporting event there is (Unless the Crew were to make the WS). I think VCU might be this year's Davidson or George Mason. Siena & Cleveland St are decent picks for a 1st round upset as well. If St Mary's gets in they could also be tough. I am predicting a first round ouster for Wisconsin, I am also not confident that Marquette will make it to the 2nd weekend. Marquette is in the 4-6 range and there are always a ton of 5-12, 6-11 upsets in the 1st round. 4-13 upsets aren't as frequent but it is possible
  11. I have a co worker who says "And Stuff" at the end of every sentence. I always wondered how he developed that habit. When ever I answer a question for someone, I always catch myself saying "No Problem". I try to get myself to say something else but I always end up blurting that out. I have to come up with a replacement phrase I think.
  12. I keep going back and forth so much on this issue. Is Hardy at his higher salary, higher offensive value, lower defensive value, + the value recieved from an Escobar trade greater than: Escobar at his lower salary, lower offensive value, higher defensive value, + the value received from a Hardy trade or greater than: Keeping both and moving one to 2nd or 3rd Honestly I don't know if Melvin could go wrong with either of the first two scenarios whereas the 3rd scenario is more debatable. I will probably be pissed off with whatever option he chooses because I love JJ but I also want to see some crazy Ozzie Smith plays out of Escobar. Part of me doesn't want to see Escobar showing up on Web Gems every night with another team.
  13. I was also thinking about Escobar at 2nd. He crazy range would be very useful playing 2nd, although his cannon arm might go to waste a little more. If Rickie tanks again this year why can't Escobar play 2nd? His range would be very beneficial to Hardy as Escobar can cover the 2nd base hole a little more. If and when Hardy leaves, Escobar can move back to SS and Green or maybe even Lawrie can move to 2nd. If Rickie comes out and plays well this year than you can't exactly change his positions either, I am not sure what I would do if Weeks, Hardy, and Escabor all play well this year. If that were to happen obviously that would be a very good thing for the Brewers. The Crew has had blocked prospects before and for the most part Melvin has done a good job in playing the right cards (Overbay and LaPorta immediately come to mind)
  14. Even though it was only a walk, my man love for Lorenzo Cain continues to grow. The performance of Brad Nelson and Chris Duffy are going to make the final roster spot decision that much tougher. Could we concievably keep both on the 25 man roster? Nelson is just starting to play the OF again, can we trust him enough to be a 4th/5th outfielder?
  15. If I had to pick 3 of our core players to keep it would certainly be Braun, Hardy, and Gallardo. So trade Hart & Fielder for some pitching. That doesn't answer the question of what to do with Escobar though. A GG SS is probably more valuable than a GG 3rd basemen simply because SS's get more opportunities and by putting a player like Escoabar who has incredible range at 3rd you are kind of reducing the benefits of that range. It is a tough decision and I wouldn't want to be the one to make it. But I imagine that if Escobar continues to improve offensively this year the return for him would be far greater than any return we would get for Hardy because Hardy makes more $ and is closer to FA.
  16. I don't blame him at all for not wanting to move. Arguably his greatest attribute is his defense, why would he want to move? It would certainly hurt his value as most of his numbers would be pedestrian for a 3rd basemen. For that reason it is probably pretty unlikely that the Crew would ever consider signing him to an extension to play 3rd. To Hardy he should do everything he can to maximize his value for his next contract, and he stands to make far more money playing SS than he does playing 3rd. Given the Escobar situation I find the odds of Melvin signing Hardy to a long term extension to be between slim and none unless Escobar is traded. If there is going to be no extension with the Crew it would be stupid for Hardy to move to 3rd. Even if his 2nd team signs him as a SS rather than a 3rd basemen he would still probably get less money although I have no facts to back that up
  17. My opinion of Lo Cain is skyrocketing right now. That kid seems like the CF of the future no doubt about it. McGehee is trying his best to make this roster thats for sure.
  18. The Kokomo song by the Beach Boys, not sure of the title though
  19. Well he isn't a Rule 5 so technically they don't have to keep him in the majors, they have the option of assigning him to AAA but he would have to clear waivers. I don't know what the odds are of that happening is though. I don't see a spot for him in all honesty, but if some of our pitchers don't get healthy soon I guess you never know. COunt me in the camp as being content with a Lamb/Counsell/McGehee platoon for at least a portion of the year if Hall and his contract are traded. With Hall on the team there really is no place for him to go though.
  20. Is their any kind of GameDay going on for this game? I can't seem to find it anywhere. All I can find is the Live Box Score.
  21. Its probably just a small ploy to get attention off of his steroid use. Maybe after an extra month people won't be so hard on him. I am only half joking. It seems like Bill Hall would be a decent fit, but would they be willing to take his last two years for essentially one month of full time duty in the beginning of a season? I find that doubtful.
