  1. I see no problem with it. Rumor has it that he will be the highest paid coach in college basketball. Going from the top team in a crappy conference to a contending top team in a better (albeeit it crappy last year) conference just makes it a no brainer IMO. Plus Kentcuky has some returning talent. If some of his recruits at Memphis are allowed to follow him to Kentcuky he will have a very good team very fast. I believe it is standard procedure for the NCAA to let new recruits out of their Letters of Intent if the coach leaves or is fired. This situation is somewhat similar to Tony Bennet. He left an average team in an average conference for a crappy team in a good conference. There is just so much more potential there.
  2. Gus Johnson is the greatest TV announcer in history. Something abnout his style makes his games very entertaining to watch. Every year I participate in an uaction draft for the NCAA pool. Typically the farther you get into the tourney the more money you can make. I have both Michigan State and Uconn in the FInal 4 so I am guaranteed at least a runner-up finish. Needless to say I had a very good weekend.
  3. Its not like 2nd base is a huge premium offensive position. Yeah his offense is probably best suited for a SS but I think he could more than hold is own as an offensive 2nd basemen. His offense would never play at 3rd or in the OF though. JJ would be an above average offensive player at SS, 3rd, or 2nd so it might be more wise from the Brewers perspective to move him, but JJ really has no incentive to do so.
  4. I was reading northsidebaseball.com and there are a couple of guys pretty pissed that the Brewers are rated higher than the Cubs. One poster said that Hardy has not developed into the player that the Brewers thought he would when they drafted him. Am I missing something or has Hardy pretty much exceeded everyones expectations at this point? I think Weeks is really the only one that has fallen below expectations while the rest of the guys just about hit them on the head.
  5. Yeah the actions of that cop aren't defensible. I mean he had his hazards on, he speeds up to the entrance of the emergency room, everyone is crying when they get out and he pulls that crap? That is mind boggling. I am glad that the cop has been reassigned but that type of behavior is pink slip worthy. The cop car had the dashboard cam going the entire time and it is painfully obvious that Moats was acting reasonably and explained more than once that his mother-in-law was dying. Not to mention the fact the hospital staff came out to back up Moats' story and the cop still took his jolly sweet time writing the ticket. But nope the cop had to have an ego that cost Moats the chance to see his mother-in-law one more time before she died. Just a jerk
  6. Lord Barnhart, please forgive me for I have sinned
  7. All I know is that if Macha leaves off McGehee he is going to have a lot of explaining to do as to why he would keep a far inferior player (Lamb) over a younger, more talented, player who had an outstanding spring. If the ultimate goal is to win as many games as possible I have a hard to justifying having the hottest player in Spring Training in AAA just because he has an option. If he didn't have an option left I think it is a no brainer that he makes the club. Plus it would be great to have some right handed power off the bench. If he isn't on the time we basically have no right handers off the bench because managers almost never use their back up catcher to pinch hit So far I love Casey, maybe he isn't the long term solution at 3rd, but if he makes the team and plays well in his limited time over the first couple of months, I think I would be alright trading Hall if he is still struggling and Doug actually finds a taker for him.
  8. Maybe Ryan is afraid of getting cancer from getting to many X-Ray's and MRI's? I know I stay away from those kind of procedures like the plague since more and more studies are coming out saying how bad those procedures can be for you long term. I doubt that is the reason that Ryan doesn't want to take one though. I guess I'll try to trust Ryan, although if I remember right he downplayed this same injury last year when it first started to affect him
  9. I thought the grade was rather appropriate. I guess I am a little apprehensive about our minor league system though, only because the next crop of players in the next 1-3 years seems far less talented than our current group so we may be replacing the Fielders, Hardy's, and Weeks' of the world with less talented players. I don't view Gamel, Escobar, Jeffress, etc in near the same category as Fielder, Weeks, Hardy, Hart, Gallardo, etc when they were all coming up at the same time. But that is probably nitpicking at this point, the Brewers organization is in a pretty good spot right now and I am not going to complain about being a perpetually 85+ win team.
  10. My HD feed was generally good from CBS over the weekend, the picture seemed pretty clear to me. My problem was about every 20-30 minutes the darn thing would freeze up in the middle of game play resulting in me missing about 30 seconds each time. I am assuming it was a Dish Network and/or CBS problem because it never happened on any other channel. It was extremely annoying as it seemed to freeze at the most inopportune time.
  11. If we have a 2-3 run lead going into the 9th I am fine having virtually anyone close, its those 1 run leads and those tie games in the 9th that I worry about
  12. I would probably take a 25% pay cut to save my own job in this economy and I could handle a 5% cut if I had a guarantee that a close friend would lose his job if I didn't agree. I would probably say No to option #3
  13. If Rickie, JJ, Braun and Hart keeping hitting the way they have this spring, the offense is going to be very very good. Add Cameron and perhaps a resurgent Hall in there and that one tough 1-7. This is of course assuming Kendall is batting 8th where he is suppose to.
  14. And I thought Kendall batting 9th was a stupid idea. I just don't think this "idea" is going to last very long. The only thing Kendall is good at is not striking out, he isn't good at hitting anymore and deserves to be in the 8th spot. Even with Rickie's shortcoming, he is still far and away our best option for that spot
  15. I just saw their new commercial for the min-snuggie yesterday. Itlooks like there is a developing cult for this product. I firmly believe that the developer of the snuggie knew that his/her product was just stupid, but it is stupid enough that people would buy it just to see how stupid it is. I could see a bunch of college kids buying it to go bar hopping with too. They are apparently coming out with more colors this year so obviously people are buying it. This product is almost as bad as Billy's Mays' latest pitch, that mini-burger cooker thing. There is no way that I can actually see that thing working like they show it on TV.
  16. I don't think there is such a thing as a middle relief "star" but when your manager is having issues with our #1 set up guy it certainly deserves attention, especially since going to camp he seemed to be the obvious choice for that role. As evidenced by Marmol with the Cubs last year, your 7th/8th inning game is arguably more important than your closer.
  17. I wonder if this is what Jeffrey Hammonds felt?
  18. He makes enough playing baseball, at this point he should avoid any media at all costs no matter what they want to pay him. It won't do him any good.
  19. Holy Crap the Astros are 1-14 this spring? How is that even possible. If that isn't evidence that their farm system is just awful I don't know what is. Obviously they have some players gone for the WBC but 1-14 is just ridiculous Gallardo is having his 2nd consecutive awesome start, and the Crew seems to be hitting alright even though no runs have come across yet. EDIT: Alcides drives the 1st run in
  20. I had heard that he already left the fastfood place and got side swiped by a car. He got out to check the damage and the car that hit him pulled a U-Turn and took a shot at him. Then Landry just ran..... with a bullet hole in his leg. It seems kind of odd that a guy would take a shot at him after what appears to be a pretty random car accident. That is unless the person knew it was Landry and the person was hoping to rob him or something like that.
  21. Just a note but Gameday appears to have the full system going today including pitch location, speed, ball/strikes, etc
  22. Prince also had a triple and scored on an error on that same play. Anyone know how that happened? If Hall can give some protection in the 5/6/7 spot I really like the offense
  23. I'll go for the Prince Bobble, This is why I visit this site at least 10 times a day, it friggin rules
  24. Yes I stayed up and watched the whole thing, now I am incredibly tired this morning. Its got to be incredibly tough to lose a game like that, especially when Uconn had the last shot to win the game in 4 of the OT's I think. I will be very interested to see how Cuse does against WV tonight, they have to be pretty drained.
