  1. I am certainly not very high in Sheets right now. My personal opinion is that he is choking since we got CC but I am also not stupid and I realize he is a damn good pitcher that we need to pitch well. I just hope that this is just a temporary thing, I really hope it is. Has Ben really ever pitched a game where anything was really on the line? I mean heck before last year we haven't even been close to the playoffs since he has been here. It is just so damn frustrating that in the middle of a playoff race we see him cruise along than just get pasted in the later innings. Either his arm is fatiguing really quickly or he just loses it mentally.
  2. Well, I guess we can't be friends. Ripon College '98 (87 spots above Beloit) I am also a Red Hawk grad. I was always amazed by the academic rivalry between all the Midwest Conference Schools. We all thought we were the Harvard of the Midwest. I graduated in 06' and the hatred for Beloit really isn't there anymore, Lawrence University has taken that role. I think Ripon was a very ood academic school but it is almost impossible to compare a liberal arts college and a state college simple because the curriculum and teaching styles are so different. And I still laugh at the "Private College is to expensive crowd" I have less student loans after 4 years than my wife did from going to a state school for 4 years. Sure I got some academic scholarships but their grants, scholarships, and student loans are all very generous.
  3. Perhaps he just wanted some wiggle room so he can continue to break world records in the future.
  4. Australia played the US pretty tough in teh 1/2 half although Bogut pretty much sucked
  5. Is it wrong to say that I think Sheets is choking big time? His only win since we got CC was against the freaking Nationals. He imploded against the Cubs, he imploded against the Padres & Peavy, and now he got beat by Geoff freaking Blum and Michael freaking Bourn. I think it is about time you step up Ben. I know he hasn't been god awful but it seems to me that he is feeling the pressure and isn't pitching like he should. I am not very confident at all right with him on the mound if it is a close game in the 5th-7th innings
  6. Since when does a pitcher's size have anything to do with if he is a "horse". Everybody brings up the fact that he is huge for a reason behind leaving him with higher pitch counts. I may not be a doctor but I don't buy this argument. I don't think someone who is 100 pounds lighter than CC with the same talent should be treated any differently in terms of pitch counts. Huge men aren't less likely to pull a muscle or strain a shoulder. If this is not true I would really like to see some proof. It also isn't like CC is the 6'7" version of Gabe Kapler either. He isn't "ripped" or a freak athletic specimen, he is just a huge man that is awesome at throwing a baseball.
  7. There was a reason the Brewers didn't offer a contract extension in the offseason. I sure as heck wouldn't offer another 4 years to a guy that in the previous 3 years hadn't been able to stay off of the disabled list. If this year had actually happened last year I am sure a contract would have been offered. I think the odds of Sheets signing a contract extension last year was doubtful at best. If he did stay healthy this year he would stand to make way more money in FA then he ever would ahve if he signed an extension. And if he didn't stay healthy some stupid team would throw money at him anyways.
  8. I'll 2nd the idea that there really is no good reason to be using checks for these types of purchases anymore. A. It's faster to use a debit/credit card, B. It's cheaper to have a debit card than ordering checks and C. the advent of online banking makes it almost unnecessary to balance your checkbook because virtually every transaction is completed within 3 days time. I have never balanced a check book in my life, but because of online banking I always know exactly how much I have in my account. I almost always go grocery shopping in the middle of the night just to avoid the traffic at the grocery store. There is nothing worse than a kid screaming that he wants the Spongebob fruit snacks. EDIT: Also when using your bank card always use the credit option if you can, your chances of identity theft are exponentially reduced if you don't enter a pin number.
  9. Tiebreakers in gymnastics is just stupid. Many people already think ths scoring has been poor at best and then to take away a gold medal based on a tiebreaker is just stupid. I like the picture of Nastia next to the Chinese girl who won. If that isn't proof that the chinese girl still drinks formula I don't what it would take.
  10. I will be devastated if Sheets lands anywhere in the NL Central. If you are going to leave Ben please please go the AL. I am trying to stay optimistic about resigning him but it is becoming increasingly difficult. A part of me hopes to wake up some morning and see breaking news saying that Sheets signed an extension but that just isn't going to happen no matter how much I want it to.
  11. Perhaps we are already seeing signs of over use. His last two starts his command has not been very good, perhaps he is already getting a tired arm. I am all for getting the most out of CC but there really was no logical reason to leave him in their in the 9th. I maybe would have been OK if Ned took him out if anyone got on in the 9th but he didn't even have anyone warming up. It was just ridiculous. CC better hope and pray that Ned's use of him doesn't cost him millions this offseason if heaven forbid he gets hurt before the end of the year. It was just dumb.
  12. There was no good reason to bring CC back in the 9th. I am not sure what Ned was thinking. The game wasn't in doubt, CC had to bat in the 8th, and he had 110 pitches after 8. The only reason Ned brought him back was so he could get another complete game and that is just stupid
  13. There were some people handing out some global warming brochures at my apartment complex this past weekend. I agreed to take one just to get them off of my back and I thought that was the end of it. After I took it they said they would be back next week to talk about it. I close the door and open the brochure only to find that they were Jehova's Witness'. They should have told me that in the first place!!! I am not sure if I will either A. Just ignore them the next time they come or B. Just go to the door and say I am not interested. I am scared of answering the door because I really don't want them trying to persuade me to believe something I have very strong feeling against. I am sure they are nice people and all but if they would have told me who they really were in the first place I would have flat out said that I wasn't interested. They certainly didn't look like JW's.
  14. I still think it might serve the Bucks best to have atleast 1 more high draft pick next year. I think they could possibly be one big time player from being a legit Eastern Conference contender. Thay have a good base, but I am still worried about defense if Villanueva and Redd are on the court at the same time
  15. I really thought this team was past the point of having deadweight in the lineup. But atleast IMO on the majority of nights we have 3 "easy" outs in Counsell, Kendall, and the pitcher. And on many nights you can add Weeks to that list as well. We can't really consistently beat the good teams with this crap can we? Just seems like playoff teams don't have a leadoff hitter with an OBP around .330, a #6 hitter who on a good day can hit it to the warning track, a #8 hitter who on a good day can roll one out to the warning track, and then there is a pitcher. We have way to many holes right now it seems. Thank goodness for our starting rotation and thank goodness that Prince and Corey are hot right now with Cameron and Weeks also picking it up a bit. Yost can't really think that having Counsell and Kendall start every day gives them the best chance to win can he?
  16. If Hurricane centers are never right when they estimate how many hurricanes every year why do they even bother making predictions? The last couple years they came up with excuses as to why they have been wrong. Well if you are so good at predictions why didn't you predict the events that slowed the hurricane season in the first place? Obviously their science isn't good enough at this point to accurately predict how a particular storm season will go. If climatologists can't predict a hurricane season 4 months ahead of time how can they possibly predict global warming 20 years from now? Sorry for the weather related rant, probably just because I have been reading some anti global warming stuff lately and it seems to have some good merit but it doesn't get any national attention at all.
  17. I don't think it is really ugly, she seems very well put together from her mid section on down, that probably causes a little bit of the weirdness. It doesn't help that she is like 3 feet tall either. It is just amazing what these women can do. I am not so sure I could walk across a balance beam, and there doing flips and spins with no hands. And to Chad Johnson you are a freaking moron, you would lose to Phelps by 20 seconds in a 50 meter race. Stop being an idiot.
  18. Well gameday says Hart got a hold of that one, anyone care to expand?
  19. I would really appreciate a comeback here Thanks
  20. Well this is the 3rd time this year where Sheets just competely lost it for no apparent reason.
  21. Well we are getting his pitch count up, With 56 pitches through 3 innings I can't see him going anymore than 7 so long as we don't start hacking at the first pitch
  22. Well I don't care if he swings at 3-0 pitch, just don't pop out to the freakin catcher. Jeez.
  23. Figures Yost actually gives Hall a start against a righty and it is Peavy. Yost is basically setting him up to fail and provide an excuse for never playing against righties ever again. I still think we can win this game, but I don't think Ben can give up more than 2-3 runs. Hopefully we can get Peavy's pitch count up
  24. Atleast Howard was professional about the bloggers questioning his omission of Sessions. Unlike other JS employees. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I tend to agree with Howard though, he really ripped apart Sessions big assist game last year, deservedly so. I guess I just don't know enough about Ridnour to say Sessions should or shouldn't start. From what everyone says Ridnour is an upgrade over Williams in terms of a true pass first point guard. We certainly need a good passer to get the ball to Redd and Bogut.
  25. Holy crap Nix batting 3rd? Wow are we going to need Ben to pitch a good game today.
