  1. Most of the roster right now is made up of Melvin "Wins" including Braun, Lucroy, Segura, Gomez, Ramirez, Krod, etc. The only real downgrades on the current team is frickin Weeks (Although who could have though he would turn into this when he signed the extension). 1st base is still a long term problem and so is the strength of the minor league system in general Melvin has made a lot of good moves with the major league roster; now Seid and the development team needs to come through and start coming up with some good prospects.
  2. Agreed on Wang. Either start using him more in the 6th and 7th innings or drop him for someone like Wooten or Hand at AAA (Or Figaro since I assume he will go down when Kintzler comes back) Kintzler will add another to go to in close games but we do need more out of the last guy or two in the pen. Plus the starters need to start going a little longer. We need some complete 7 and 8 inning starts. Going 6+ is nice; but a couple near complete games will go a long ways towards helping the pen There have got to be a couple of guys that are off limits tonight; probably not a good thing when Gallardo usually can't make it past 6. I would guess Figaro will pitch at some point tonight
  3. Velez is just going bonkers right now. He probably is a AAAA player but we would be better off having him here than Weeks or Overbay.
  4. I take it there is no such thing as a suspended list in MLB that would allow us to call up a AAA catcher for a couple games?
  5. I think Stone is probably more likely to go to Marquette then he is UW. But he is even more likely to end up at Kentucky, Duke, UNC, etc. I am putting about a 20% chance he stays in state for college. I would love it if he did; no matter if he picked Marquette or UW. Ellenson is probably far more likely to end up staying in state than Stone one would think.
  6. The way Aram is going and the lack of 3B prospects in the system; Doug should plan on trying to keep him for 2015 and maybe even a 2016 option.
  7. He is going to be put to the test right away with Stone. Can he convince Stone to stay in state and play with his former team mate at Dominican. If he can pull that one off I think Marquette is in pretty good hands. Even if he can't get Stone I don't think I would hold it against him. I still think it is going to be harder to recruit top talent in the new Big East. There just aren't a lot of marquee matchups/trips and teams recruits would love to play against
  8. This thread probably isn't a good idea. I like him personally but there are plenty of people here that don't. Could get ugly. On stupid plays / decisions it always comes down to two things 1. The players executed poorly or 2. the Manager was stupid for doing it. All managers have their faults; the managers of the teams we root for naturally seem worse then other teams managers simply because we witness more of the negative things.
  9. I am really excited for the long term prospects of both Nelson and Thornburg in the starting rotation in Milwaukee. They both have the ability to be top of the line starters that Milwaukee needs. Nelson probably doesn't see Milwaukee unless a starter gets hurt; but if he keeps this up then someone in the current rotation is going to be expendable this coming offseason.
  10. Man I hope his OBP is a little higher than 321 if he is hitting 320.
  11. I am sure RR is telling guys he wants them aggressive on the base paths; its another thing to go out there and be stupid about it. I am sure RR is about as happy with how that went down as everyone here. I really do like aggressive base running. They have run into a lot of good throwing catchers thus far and they have made a couple boneheaded mistakes. But I want guys like Segura, Braun, and Gomez running whenever they think they can.
  12. Well that might have been the worst baserunning I have ever seen. At some point RR just needs to tell these guys just to stand on the base and don't move like they are 1st graders. So many outs on the bases.
  13. Shortest possible HR in Miller Park I presume right there
  14. I don't care what any prospect list says; Nelson should surely be considered a top pitching prospect at this point. You can't tell me there are a 100 more promising players than him. The guy has been sensational
  15. I wonder why he was pulled after 76 pitches? If he is throwing a good game like he obviously was he could have gone another couple innings for sure. No reason to baby Bradley's pitch count at this stage of his career.
  16. I am wondering if Segura is just pressing a bit because he probably turned down a contract extension in the offseason. Now he is under pressure to show that this wasn't a mistake. I am wondering if Segura is ever going to hit a HR again; he seems to have lost all of his power since his HR outburst early last year. Gennett will never be considered an OBP machine or anything; but it is worth giving him a shot. It also sneaks a LH hitter at the front of the lineup as well. Going to be a tough game tonight; Peralta better be on his A game because I don't think too many runs will be scored off of Cashner.
  17. Hopefully they don't have a let down this week against teams that they are better than. Brewers are definitely putting together a reputation here; but that really isn't anything new. To Cameron's untucking, to Prince's bomb there always seems to be something that annoys someone. I really could care less so long as we are winning games. Right now the Brewers are one of if not the best team in the league so all these naysayers can just cram it. If/when we are doing this stuff and losing; then they can let it rip. Braun is probably getting tested every morning when he shows up to the park and every other team in the league would love to have Gomez. Well probably not the Cardinals; the universe might implode.
  18. The whole " he admired it at home plate" is frickin ridiculous. Albert Pujols does that on every single one. Has anyone ever noticed how long it takes him to get around the bases. A ton of players do the exact same thing as Gomez. No they don't flip their bat but Carlos has done that for basically forever so no one should be surprised by it. If Cole wouldn't have gone out of his way to get offended by Carlos not hustling out of the box and almost getting thrown out we wouldn't be having this conversation. Gomez probably does have a short fuse; but he brings so much excitement it really doesn't bother me at all.
  19. Carlos is never going to change; he is what he is. I wonder what Pitt could have said that pissed him off so badly. He should probably be suspended 3 games or so. Maldy probably about the same maybe more since he landed a pretty good one.
  20. Morris is starting to pick it up a bit. Plus he would fit right in with the rest of the Brewers since he can't take a walk either. I know RR and DM seem to love Overbay; but I would love to see Morris get a chance in Milwaukee with a couple starts a week
  21. Its weird that Garza has easily been our worst starting pitcher so far. That is actually a good thing; he hasn't been that bad but everyone else has been terrific. This staff should hopefully keep two pretty poor offenses on this upcoming home stand down.
  22. The Brewers have not played very well the last two series and they still managed to go 3-3. That's reason for optimism right there. They have really sucked the last 2 games and still won.
  23. Denson is walking a ton thus far; he could carry a pretty nice OBP if he can start making more solid contact.
  24. Minor league pitching has been really good; minor league hitting has been the exact opposite. Jeez
  25. Love it when posters respond to themselves. Well Wooten isn't going to get in any more close game late anymore.
