  1. This Vols team is a veteran group that was already great before getting an influx of top notch transfers. Very skilled, very strong, very well coached, deep, experienced, etc. Knecht (sp) was a monster tonight, but if we had held him in check someone else would have stepped up. It may have said Tennessee across the front of their jerseys, but it felt like a prime UNC or Kansas team.
  2. This is the plot twist where Mark, now far more motivated than ever to outperform Chicago, starts spending with reckless abandon to win at all costs and ensure the Brewers maintain a level of success above that of Craig Scoundrel and the Cubs ... resulting in WS magic in the next 1-3 years. All because of today. Just the push we needed. Today, November 6, 2023 -- a date which will live in infamy.
  3. Could the Brewers get creative and offer a manager + front office / assistant GM title & role? Or a deal that incorporates a small sliver of team ownership? Just thinking out loud about possibilities that might be unique to the Counsell/Brewers/Milwaukee relationship.
  4. Malika Andrews @malika_andrews We get our first look at the Bucks’ new superstar duo this weekend. Bucks head coach Adrian Griffin says on NBA Today that Giannis Antetokounmpo and Dame Lillard will make their preseason debut on Sunday against the Lakers. ETA: Sunday's game is on ESPN.
  5. Favored by 6.5 on the road, won by 21. Didn't look great, but they're fine. Defense is a concern.
  6. Well played. Had this queued up last night just for the Magic Number thread, assuming we'd be hitting 3 today.
  7. If there were such a thing as a triple-and-a-half, Mitchell just got one. Ripped to the gap in right center, absolutely flew around the bases, fans were legitimately thinking he might try for home.
  8. There have been 3 really good plays by Jacksonville defenders to rob hits. 2 diving catches in the outfield, and one ranging diving stab by the second baseman on a grounder. Wiemer was one of the victims, as was Winker, don't recall the other.
  9. Ah, we were wondering about that. Thanks!
  10. Short porch in RF for that grand slam. 310 ft, and cleared the fence by ~10 ft. Unfortunate. It seemed like Ashby was being squeezed, but not the best angle to tell.
  11. On my way to First Horizon Park to catch the Sounds tonight. Is there anywhere I can see a lineup in advance?
  12. >> ...sprint speed... I thought he looked noticeably pudgier this season than I ever remembered before.
  13. Side of the foot/ankle counts as a knee, right?
  14. The last 2 plays, ball carrier went out of bounds. With 8+ minutes on the clock, once the ball gets set by the official, shouldn't the clock be running? The clock stayed stopped until snapped.
  15. There goes Tokyo.
  16. One of my favorite Brewers of all time, for some reason...
  17. That play by Van Ness was eyebrow-raising. Very promising....
  18. You might say we're Stuck in the Middle of some tough SP opponents.
  19. Was JJ Hardy ever fast? I remember him being very average speed and often disappointing on the basepaths ... deceptively slow even.
  20. Lots of good stuff in that article. One fun quote: "Only two Brewers have out-hit Canha this year over 150 plate appearances or more, which is honestly shocking. Five different Mets have, and the Mets are awful!"
  21. Thank you, wiguy94 and damuelle. I ended up not going to either game, but appreciate the help.
  22. I'm considering going to see the Sounds later this week, either Fri 5/12 or Sat 5/13. Is there any way to look up probable starting pitchers? Couldn't find it on the Sounds website or via internet search.
  23. Yeah, I'd have him in my top 5 and he's not even in the Honorable Mention. Weird omission.
  24. Jesse Winker on MLB Hot Stove - Jesse Winker discusses American Family Field's appeal, his reaction to being traded to the Brewers, being familiar with the NL Central and more... https://www.mlb.com/video/jesse-winker-s-current-mindset
