  1. For those of us not watching, what happened on the Hoskins play?
  2. And the pathway is a giant blue L? (backwards, but still...)
  3. Thanks for the advice. Subscribed today and got to listen to the game with the TMJ feed. What a treat. I found the overall UI/UX to be a bit less intuitive than expected. Like "At Bat" kindof exists as its own thing, but kindof doesn't. Felt like I needed to navigate various MLB webpage layers and hunt for the radio links, including a confusing lack of cohesion between desktop and mobile/app, but eventually got where I needed to go in both platforms. (And is it really necessary for MLB to have both a full MLB app and also a standalone MLB Ballpark app? Yeesh...) Anyways, $30 total seems like a sweet deal for the season-long enjoyment I should get from listening to the Brewers Radio Network from down here in TN. And supposedly I'll also get MiLB live video streaming with this subscription? Could be nice to keep up with the Sounds season. When today's game was over, I got about 20-30 minutes of the postgame show before the stream cut out mid-broadcast. Is that about the norm?
  4. I couldn't find a separate thread about streaming in general, so at the risk of being off topic... What options exist for an out-of-state fan to listen to games? ie, streaming the audio only, preferably the Brewers Radio Network feed.
  5. #6, for the record.
  6. Don't know anything about their 2023 seasons, but these bits from preseason last year sound interesting to me... 5. DL Hall, LHP, 24, MLB Called up to Baltimore at the beginning of September, the career starter got his feet wet with 11 appearances out of the bullpen in 2022. At a quick glance, his debut looks like it may have been a little rough, but that is misleading. Hall gave up 0 or 1 run in 9 of his 11 appearances, only walking 2 and striking out 13 over those 9 innings. He will be given a chance to start this year, but at this point his floor is a high leverage Josh Hader-type lefty out of the pen and that’s not a bad place to be. 13. Joey Ortiz, 2B/SS, 24, Triple-A While I won’t go as far as to say, “defense first,” Ortiz was so highly regarded because of his defensive work in college. He also did lead the nation in hits and runs as a Junior at New Mexico State. Ortiz has erased any questions that may have existed when it comes to his bat. Starting 2022 in Double-A, before finishing the year in Triple-A, all Ortiz did was accumulate 60 extra base hits while slashing .284/.349/.477 and only striking out 16% of the time. https://www.prospects1500.com/top-50-lists/baltimore-orioles-top-50-prospects-2023/
  7. Off topic, but I was curious to see where Brock Purdy ranked here, but he doesn't appear to be listed. Not enough plays? That doesn't seem right compared with other QBs on the chart.
  8. Sounds like they wouldn't normally have played him on a back-to-back, but needed to do so to avoid a fine from the league (new rule) for a healthy "star" sitting out a nationally televised game (since Khris was an all-star in last three years). It was the plan all along to play him for the first half only.
  9. Perfect fit for the Vikings?
  10. I saw that same stat -- 34th in the league -- at the bottom of the screen during the broadcast and had to do a double take. Yikes.
  11. It's supposed to be where the ball crosses the sideline boundary, but I swear it's always adjudicated in the offense's favor more like it's where the ball is when 15 inches out of bounds.
  12. Fun game. Spotted 'em 14 points and proceeded to outscore them 24-3 after that. The multiple failures on 3rd & 2 / 4th & 2 were definitely frustrating.
  13. Disappointed... Murphy is linked to Counsell, so there's a decent level of taint there. I really don't want to see Murphy's face any more than I want to see that SOB Counsell's face. His continued presence on the bench will just be a haunting reminder of how he backdoor'd his way into the job 'cos his buddy left us in the lurch by bolting to the arch enemy while turning his back on his hometown & hometown fans. ... Cruel joke. ... Yuck. Weeks has always been one of my least favorite Brewers ever. Horrible reads and anticipation on defense, seemed like bad instincts / low intelligence. Chased low & away breaking balls over and over and over again, seemed like bad discipline / low intelligence. And anytime he spoke it just sounded like low intelligence. Never had much respect for him as a player or as someone to have any kind of special feel for the game or baseball mind. Honestly, he always seemed like the opposite of what would make a good coach. Hopefully I'm off with my observations.
  14. This Vols team is a veteran group that was already great before getting an influx of top notch transfers. Very skilled, very strong, very well coached, deep, experienced, etc. Knecht (sp) was a monster tonight, but if we had held him in check someone else would have stepped up. It may have said Tennessee across the front of their jerseys, but it felt like a prime UNC or Kansas team.
  15. This is the plot twist where Mark, now far more motivated than ever to outperform Chicago, starts spending with reckless abandon to win at all costs and ensure the Brewers maintain a level of success above that of Craig Scoundrel and the Cubs ... resulting in WS magic in the next 1-3 years. All because of today. Just the push we needed. Today, November 6, 2023 -- a date which will live in infamy.
  16. Could the Brewers get creative and offer a manager + front office / assistant GM title & role? Or a deal that incorporates a small sliver of team ownership? Just thinking out loud about possibilities that might be unique to the Counsell/Brewers/Milwaukee relationship.
  17. Malika Andrews @malika_andrews We get our first look at the Bucks’ new superstar duo this weekend. Bucks head coach Adrian Griffin says on NBA Today that Giannis Antetokounmpo and Dame Lillard will make their preseason debut on Sunday against the Lakers. ETA: Sunday's game is on ESPN.
  18. Favored by 6.5 on the road, won by 21. Didn't look great, but they're fine. Defense is a concern.
  19. Well played. Had this queued up last night just for the Magic Number thread, assuming we'd be hitting 3 today.
  20. If there were such a thing as a triple-and-a-half, Mitchell just got one. Ripped to the gap in right center, absolutely flew around the bases, fans were legitimately thinking he might try for home.
  21. There have been 3 really good plays by Jacksonville defenders to rob hits. 2 diving catches in the outfield, and one ranging diving stab by the second baseman on a grounder. Wiemer was one of the victims, as was Winker, don't recall the other.
  22. Ah, we were wondering about that. Thanks!
  23. Short porch in RF for that grand slam. 310 ft, and cleared the fence by ~10 ft. Unfortunate. It seemed like Ashby was being squeezed, but not the best angle to tell.
