  1. 4 red bulls plus half a bottle of Jager plus super crazy brewers game has me wishing I were wearing a Life Alert medical necklace thingy....
  2. I might have missed it, but I didn't see mention of Menard's Big Inning, Badger Mutual insurance runs, George Webb burger runs, and the Potowatomie 21 runs impossibility.
  3. My first ever post in the SLT. Bush pitched a pretty good game on the road, Braun looks like he very well could be healthy enough to return as a starter (I was not optimistic he'd play at all in LA), and I just watched a game for the ages with hugely memorable defensive plays that resulted in a win ... meanwhile the Cubs proved fallible. There's silver everywhere....
  4. Hart's arm might be strong, but his approach to the ball in situations where he needs to use it is usually pretty bad. The final play of this year's all-star game is a typical example .... catch the ball way above your head (almost behind you), flat footed, then rely on that arm to get the throw in. I don't think I've ever seen him run up on a fly ball to use his momentum in the throw. Even on balls he fields off the ground he seems to somehow negate his momentum and throw flat-fooded. His arm is above average but the strength of his throws end up being below average.
  5. Is it on purpose that there's no practive Sunday the 24th?
  6. I'll take jersey #13, size Medium. No names on the back, right? I don't have your AIM screenname if you want to PM it to me....
  7. I'll be there Sunday.
  8. bucks.realgm.com ... click the "forum" link. EDIT: Un-linkified the URL since yuku handles it in a way that causes it not to work. Copy/paste it to your browser or type it into your browser.
  9. Am I the only one who finds himself rooting against the USA sometimes? I don't like being the New York Yankees of the olympics. I was actively rooting for Belgium to win the first set against Walsh/May to take 'em down a peg. Got pretty bummed when the Americans pulled it out. Maybe it's just 'cos I think the U.S. beach volleyball team is arrogant and ugly.... EDIT: Greengrocer's apostrophe FTL
  10. I honestly think I might like the idea of winning the Wild Card a whole lot better if it didn't have the name "Wild Card". It sounds so remarkably unprestigious. On the one had you've got a division crown and on the other hand you've got what sounds like the lucky draw of a goofy Uno card.
  11. C'mon. The banner you get to hang in your park. Bragging rights. The historic FACT that you took the division instead of some cheesey best-of-the-rest distinction. And if we lose, which is every bit as likely if not more likely, there's your second devastating kick straight to the crotch. Stupid Braves, thanks for nothing.
  12. My goal coming into the season was 90 wins. That's the mark of a darn good team and an unmistakeable sign that we have arrived; you can't fault the team if they miss out on the playoffs with a record like that. That said, we could finish with 95 wins but if the Cubs finish a game better than us I will be very very unhappy.
  13. ...with more deception than you can shake a CGI stick at! http://news.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/08/11/1541249&from=rss ...while an uglier stick Cyranos out of sight... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080812/ap_on_re_as/oly_china_lip_synched_song ...and NBC quietly alters realty and the fabric of time for good ol' Nielsen. http://news.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/08/09/2231231&from=rss
  14. Do we have any spare difference makers we can lend them? Teams like us gotta stick together as we try to take down the likes of Boston, ChC, NYY, etc....
  15. Not sure if the OP question was sincere? "Same old Brewers" = "Here we go again" = "Please end the suffering and disappoinment one of these years ... or decades". I can't fault anyone for being on edge or venting with that attitude when things start to go awry.
  16. Could be worse, could be ESPN Research. Apparently we've already swept the Nationals after game three of the four game series and somehow the Nationals had won six of seven games before today, despite losing on Friday and Saturday. One correct bullet out of three bullets, not bad. (Or am I reading them wrong??) For all I know, they got the 23-10 stat wrong too. It cracks me up that it's "signed" ESPN Research. http://images.yuku.com/image/gif/5d2254a4219ced54bc72f1c0eed541859973f83.gif
  17. I thought you moved out of state, Brewer Fever? Or am I thinking of someone else?
  18. Probably obvious. Went to Valpo, their nickname is the Crusaders, I altered it for the Brew Crew.
  19. I've spent the last 20 minutes using Yuku's various cruddy search tools trying to find one poster's recent remark about Cubs fans, their fake tan girlfriends, and various other funny spot-on generalizations. I knew at the time I should've copied and pasted it elsewhere. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  20. Stats companies do keep track of scoop percentage. In 2006, the numbers I saw had Prince dead last in the Majors (out of 27 qualified) at 63.6%, leage average was 80.5% (Overbay), and Helton was tops at 93%. Number of attempts was generally in the 40 to 70 range. I think Prince's bad fielding/stretching/scooping is too easily overlooked.
  21. If it's not too late, count me in and let me know if you need me to mail you a check or something. If it's too late, totally understandable. I excel at dragging my feet....
  22. Out. I'll be at U.S. Cellular watching the Sox-Sox game.
  23. Fervently rooting for the Cards with every single pitch. Hope they destory the Cubs....
  24. Would it lighten things up at all if Bush strapped on full catchers gear tonight during the top half of every inning?
  25. Calling that a "fight" is like calling August 15, 1945 the Battle of Hiroshima. That was one of the worst things I've ever seen a Brewer do. I can only hope in some way Manny had it partly coming .... otherwise, I don't even know what to say.
