    JB, why would they want him at this point in the season? He's not going to make that big of a difference over the last 2 months. And your book is definitely quite different from how the team feels.

    Therein lies the rub. If the award was MOP, clearly Berkman wins by a healthy margin; however some people will argue that Berkman really can't be that "valuable" if the Astros sucked. I'm not trying to start a debate about that, but it's certainly true. If Braun continues to carry the Brewers he's got a heck of a shot, but Pujols would certainly be a fine choice.

    Of course it would have. Why would a tie for first be any less compelling? For all the posts about how stupid or irrelevant ESPN is, there sure is a lot of angst about what they do. It shouldn't be that shocking that Brewers/Cubs is getting significant airtime.

    Prejudice: It's okay when it's about sports! If you substituted Cubs and Brewers with racial/ethnic terms, some of the posts here would be disgraceful (especially yours valpo). I'm all for an intense rivalry, but the whole "every Cub fan is a pathetic loser and a horrible person" is starting to get old. I'm making a wild conjecture here, but I bet there are nice Cub fans out there (gasp!). It's also sad that one, people don't have any sense of public decency and decorum anymore and two, onlookers just shrug and say "well, you have to expect that, it's a rivalry."

    In any case, given the 2 schedules all the Brewers need to do is split the head-to-head matchups and make up the difference with other teams. You don't *need* a series win when it's a 4-gamer and you're only 1 game back.

    I think the point about celebrating a strikeout after the play is over is a valid one. To me, posing = showboat, Kirk Gibson-style fist pumping around the bases = celebration. At least jog down the line.
