  1. Yeah that's what Smoltz was saying all along last night. He didn't understand why the Brewers kept pitching him up. The one time he was pitched down, he got out. Obviously that won't happen every time but it's a lot harder to hit bombs on pitches low and away.
  2. I'm wondering if they let Laurinitis ride it out until Survivor Series with Team WWE v. Anti-WWE. Then have the winner choose the Raw GM or something and WWE wins and puts Foley in charge.
  3. I've thought about that but I don't know what to say. I mean I obviously tried to get a job after my 2nd year of law school but didn't get any offers. And I've been trying since graduating. I don't wanna lie with an excuse but I also don't think it's a good idea to just come out and say nobody's wanted to hire me. If I had to do it all over again, I would probably rethink going to law school. A law degree isn't what it was 10 years ago. It's not even what it was 5 years ago.
  4. Don't turn this into another Marcum is Suppan argument. He's not. He's younger and has had success his entire career. In fact, we wouldn't even be here without Marcum. That being said, yes Marcum's results have been bad recently but Narveson is known to give up the big innings too. Marcum is still the better pitcher.
  5. Haha you can't be serious. I think he is. Some games you just don't have luck on your side.
  6. Loe's not lights-out or anything but he can be an effective pitcher if used in the right situation. And really only 2 of the hits this inning were hit hard, one of which bounced off someone's glove. The inning is still going... Yeah and my point still stands. Most fans act like Loe is the worst pitcher in the world. He's not. He just should really only be used against righties and when you need ground balls. But most of the time, Roenicke doesn't pay attention to stuff like that so he gets lit up and fans hate Loe for it.

  8. Corey Hart is a terrible defensive player. I don't care if he's surprised Pujols is running, you still come up throwing. Prince will cut it if he needs to.
  9. Turns in the rotation don't matter in the playoffs. You pitch your best pitchers when they are ready. Yo will pitch game 3 and therefore be available for game 7 if necessary.
  10. Terrible call but Weeks still has to have a better approach there.
  11. Again, I don't think he's really struggling. He's basically only been beat tonight by arguably the best player in baseball. That inning had a ball pop out of someone's glove, a ball hit where the defender normally would be if not for the hit and run, and another ball that would probably have been caught had Gomez been out there. But because 4 runs have scored, the average fan (not calling you that) will say Marcum sucks. Shaun Marcum's last 6 starts -- 33 IP, 46 H, 30 ER. That's an 8.18 ERA. I'm pretty sure that could be called "struggling". I'm pretty sure he said post-season. And I've said earlier, I don't think he was as bad as the numbers show in AZ. edit: And before those starts he gave up 4 runs in 34 innings. I can do it too. As many here have said, there is really no such thing as hot or cold. If a guy is a better pitcher than your other options, you usually use him.
  12. I put this as much on Roenicke as I do Estrada. Shouldn't even be in and he probably shouldn't have pitched to Pujols.

  14. Nyjer is decent on defense but he's not even close to Gomez.
  15. I would really like to see Green get a start over Weeks at some point. That last one was hit kinda hard but other than that, Weeks has hit about 3 balls hard in the past 3 weeks (although one of those went like 800 feet).
  16. Actually Marcum is a good pitcher. He just hasn't pitched well recently. Actually, more accurate would be he hasn't gotten good results recently (I thought he pitched decent in AZ besides the GS).
  17. It was open yesterday and the noise was just fine.
  18. Yes. I believe he grounded out to 2nd in Game 4.
  19. Thank you for finding the right words to convey what I've been thinking. I agree with you 100%. Actually that's total hyperbole. People (myself included) are saying they've probably won like 4-5 despite Roenicke and lost like 5 games because of him. And those are total games, taking into account decisions he's made that have won games (i.e. squeeze). Most of the time it's the players the win/lose but there have been situations this year where's made completely stupid decisions, like sticking with Loe as the 8th inning guy no matter what. There was at least one game where most on here were saying Loe should not be brought in because there was a lefty up (Votto, maybe?). Then he hits a bomb but the Brewers come back to win. Like I said, most games are won and lost by the players but there are key decisions made (or not made) by Roenicke that have resulted in losses IMO.
  20. I've been unemployed for about a year and a half now so I figured I might as well try my luck here. I graduated from UW Law School in May 2010 with a certified curricular concentration in estate planning. I've been looking for work in the legal field since. I've had a few interviews but no offers. I think one of my big problems is that I don't have any relevant work experience. I worked as a commercial roofer during the summers in college and then I graduated with a degree in Zoology. Then I roofed again when I graduated in 06 until I started law school in the fall of 07. My dad got me a job with his company in the summer of 08 doing various warehouse maintenance stuff but I was also able to do some OSHA safety research stuff there as well. So my big selling point (which isn't much) is that I was able to save the company some money by doing this OSHA stuff myself instead of having them contract someone else to do it, which they usually did. That was my last job. I know there are a few attorneys here so I was just wondering if anybody had any advice/contacts/etc. for me. Basically anything would be useful. My main areas of interest are estate planning or family law but I was also interested in real estate and contracts. The only thing I never really wanted to do was be a litigator. Because of my lack of experience, I would even start at a paralegal-type position or possibly even volunteer. I would also be interested in any other fields/positions (not necessarily in the legal field) that might be useful for someone with a JD or that might add experience I could use in a legal job down the road. I would appreciate any insight/advice/etc. from anyone. Thanks guys.
  21. I think there's more to it than just giving up 2 runs in 2 innings. In AZ, he was getting squeezed and most of the balls weren't hit very hard (other than Montero's double and obviously the GS). If he were pitching well and gave up a few bloops and a couple runs scored, I'd still keep him in. But if he was getting smoked, then I'd consider taking him out but only if he gave up like 4 runs in 2, depending on the opposite pitching matchup. Like I said, it's more about how he's visually throwing, not just whether he's given up a couple of early runs.
  22. Where is this coming? Because he was emotional after the game yesterday? I was there so I didn't actually see any of it on camera but I would assume most of that emotion is from winning a huge series and advancing, not because he knows his time is coming to an end. Like I've said, we're still playing for a championship and people are already talking about booing Prince next year. I don't get it. And for the record, I hope Prince doesn't resign because I don't think he would be worth the money (over the long-haul) it would take.
  23. Macha had the gall to pull Hoffman from the closers role and put an unheralded guy named John Axford in the 9th inning for the Brewers, that worked out okay.Macha also managed to use Kameron Loe correctly, and gave him his best season in the bigs. I really think, had the teams ERA been a run and a half lower last year, everyone in or out of the clubhouse would've loved Ken Macha. I'm in that camp as well. Was the team bad because they were unhappy or were they unhappy because they were bad? I would go with the latter. I wanted Macha gone too but given this season's roster, I think Macha could have done just as well, if not better.
