  1. Adam Dunn has 29 homeruns. Weeks who was hyped at one point as having more power than Fielder has 9. Dunn is a corner outfielder. Compare Weeks to a 2B. And I don't blame anyone for being disappointed in him but at this point, it's water under the bridge. He was the second overall pick and at this point, it doesn't matter.
  2. You go to games against the Twins and Cardinals at Miller Park and there are plenty of opposing fans at the game. I don't like to hear them cheer but hey, what do you expect? They are otherwise respectful, so no complaints here. I'm sure there are plenty of exceptions but I get the impression that the average Cubs fan doesn't even know the rules to the game of baseball. I don't even like to attend those games anymore.
  3. "Tough argument to make as far as I'm concerned. Please don't throw zone ratings or whatever at me." The subjective fans think Durham is slightly worse as well: http://www.tangotiger.net/scouting/pos2007_2B.html Just rewind the tailor made double play that Weeks screwed up tonight. So, the stats and the fans seem to point to Durham being the slightly worse defender than Weeks. But one play proves that Weeks is a worse defender than a guy we've all hardly seen first hand?
  4. Looking at everything (NOT just this year), Weeks is an certainly an above average offensive 2B. The real question is whether his bad defense makes him even an average 2B overall, at this point in his career. My guess is, probably not. What will he be in 2 years? Hard to say. I would probably take the under, though.
  5. An exciting game 1 went to the unlovable losers from the south but the Brewers and Ben Sheets hope to tie up the series in game 2. Sheets vs. Zambrano. A classic in the making.\ Ben Sheets (10-3, 2.87 ERA) http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2157/2514053450_1668395824.jpg?v=0
  6. Wow. This thread is pretty much unreadable.
  7. Crap. McClung has red hair and Suppan has brown hair. I guess I was silly for saying they were roughly the same. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif. I was talking about expected performance. Specifically, runs/start and length of start. What do people honestly think are reasonable ERA projections for both, going forward? This reminds my of that Bush thread from a couple months ago.
  8. I just don't get it. It's not OK to try and get a single via a bunt but it's perfectly acceptable to swing for the fences? I'll never get this "rules".
  9. But if the Cubs take 3 of 4, they can feel confident; they can out the Crew as pretenders and not contenders. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to win 3 games, but let's not carried away. The average baseball team knows that 4 games is nothing.
  10. I kind of fall in end's camp. I don't see a huge difference between McClung and Suppan right now, so I'd rather just keep Suppan in the rotation and hope to unload him in the off season. The irony is, the day after he was signed, I was hoping that he'd perform well enough to be dumped in the 08-09 off season. Not looking good.
  11. BP's take on each team's chances of making the playoffs: Dodgers: 35% Braves: 5.8% Reds: less than 1% The Braves could certainly justify being sellers if they wanted to.
  12. Harden averages 5.9 IP/start. What is that, 2 less batters a start than average?
  13. For what it's worth, here's who BP projects as having the most talent going forward: Red Sox (.623) Rays(.597) Yankees (.572) Cubs (.567) Mets (.558) White Sox (.552) Brewers (.545) http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/ps_oddspec.php Part of that is based on preseason projections, though, and they don't update that for personnel changes (in other words, part of that projection assumes Yo is still on the team and CC isn't). Really, I have no problem with the Mets being a little higher than the Brewers.
  14. "I question whether we should expect a guy moving from the AL to the NL to lower his ERA. This year so far the ERA in the NL is 4.28 and the AL 4.14. The average batting line in the AL is .264/.333/.411/.744 and the NL .258/.329/.411/.740. I know it seems to make logical sense that with the DH more runs would be scored, but that doesn't seem to be the case." This is the first year it's upside down. Really though, you can't just compare NL to AL ERA anyway. AL batters are also considered better as well. Overall, AL teams spend significantly more money than the NL, so it wouldn't be surprising that they have a slightly higher level of play.
  15. Kendall's defense has been great but we have no idea what effect his presence has had on the pitchers. Should I blame him for Suppan's bad year? Gagne? Bush's bad first 2 months? I certainly don't think that's fair. I'm not saying that he hasn't helped Parra or some other pitcher. I just wouldn't automatically assume it. Great defense, adequate offense for a catcher. That's good enough for me.
  16. If playoff experience is so valuable, I look forward to Suppan ptching game 1 and Counsell starting at 2B. Everything else equal, I'll take the playoff experience for sure. I'm just not going to give it a whole heck o a lot of value. And I'm getting the impression that some expect CC to pitch complete game shutouts every time. He's a great pitcher but let's be reasonable. If you use anything resembling a realistic projection for Yo (3.75 ERA?) and Sabathia (3.25), a full season of Yo would be expected to be at least as valuable as CC getting his 17 starts. Throw in another arm (McClung or Bush) in the pen and the lost prospects and it's really not even close.
  17. The Brewers havn't exactly been hurting in the good luck department themselves. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  18. As for the regular season: 28 starts Gallardo > 17 starts from Sabathia And Melvin had wanted to, those prospects could have been traded to get a couple of stuff reliever arms.
  19. Hopefully we exorcised them and didn't just give them a workout It took me 3 tries to spell "exercise" right, so I'll say, good enough! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. Wow, I thought the Cardinal fans were supposed to be classy? Just tearing into their team. Fire LaRussa! What a road series! Talk about exercising the "can't sweep on the road" demons.
  21. Do the people who always claim that a game is over before the game over actually see all these comebacks?
  22. This is russ. We are looking in Oak Creek and are looking in the 1800-2200 ft^2 range. That's what has really annoyed me about looking at model homes. I'm walking through homes that I could easily afford.... if they hadn't put in $100,000 grand of upgrades. No, I will not be purchasing the $500 bathroom faucet.
  23. What's the point of using seasons to begin with? HR/AB is what matters.
  24. This is mrs rluzinski We are looking to build a house and are indecisive about builders in the area. The two we are thinking about going with are Mastercraft and Bielinski. Does anyone have any good/bad experiences with either of them? Any other builders you would recommend? Any advice for a first time homebuilder?
