  1. That bar has tables and food as well, and it's not that overly expensive. You could have a standing room only ticket and watch the game in the bar area(through glass windows) or sit outside. if you want to be guaranteed a spot to sit, you better get there about an hour before the game starts, however.
  2. Graffanino is infinitely better than our backup plan last year at 1st base. Graffy has a .686 OPS this year. He has only 1 hit his last 13 AB and that was a bloop single, compliments of a drawn in infield. If we want to use small samples to predict future performance, Graffy is not looking like a very good candidate himself. And while we all know that Weeks is marred in a terrible slump right now, my contention is that his current slump isn't much worse than the run-of-the-mill type slump all players go through from time to time. Let's compare it to some other Brewer slumps from just this year: Weeks: 50 PA, .073 BA, .313 OPS Graffy: 53 PA, .122, .352 OPS Mench: 41 PA, .125 BA, .272 OPS Hardy: 41 PA, .132 BA, .406 OPS Hall: 49 PA, .196 BA, .468 OPS Counsell: 55 PA, .143 BA, .475 OPS Estrada: 51 PA, .200 BA, .500 OPS Fielder: 52 PA, .167 BA, .618 OPS Jenkins: 46 PA, .146 BA, .532 OPS Hart: 41 PA, .205 BA, .552 OPS If I may borrow the "contending teams don't..." phrase, contending teams do not send down promising players only because of a 50 PA slump. If he's not hurt he needs to play, IMO.
  3. We have horrible seats for Friday (behind the foul pole on the terrace level) but will just use our .300 level tickets you get for having a season ticket package. We try to save these for games like these. EDIT: I should have said, .300 club passes.
  4. Do you have an issue if that playing time comes in AAA? Would you have taken issue with Fielder being sent down, when he had an arguably worse slump last year? Both situations seem very similar to me. Whether he should be sent down or not is one thing but does anyone think Melvin would actually do that? This is the guy who let Hardy play through that horrible first half, his rookie season. Sending Weeks down would seem very un-Melvinish to me. I just don't see it happening.
  5. So basically it comes down to Gross or Gwynn. No, it comes down to Miller batting 5th and both Hardy and Weeks being given days off after 2 games. All those things combined and it seems like a silly lineup to me.
  6. It will be only a matter of time because the brewers are not playing well at all. I don't think anyone else has predicted that this year. As for this lineup, when you let slumps and hot streaks dictate your lineup, you have Miller batting 5th. Pretty darn silly.
  7. Two months ago, fans were quite satisfied with Weeks and no one wanted to see Graffy in the starting lineup at all. Now the Brewers can't "afford" to let Weeks play over Graffy? If some fans can come to such drastically different conclusions after such a short period of time, it suggests to me that those conclusions are being made in haste. Just my opinion, obviously.
  8. Well, Adam McCalvy needs to explain exactly what the problem with HRs are, since he keeps writing about how the Brewers' offense is flawed for relying on them. I generally enjoy his writing, so it irks me to see him get on the "HRs are bad" bandwagon. It's a bad sign when you start agreeing with Bill Schroeder.
  9. There aren't different rules for an all star game. If the umps would have seen the interference they would have called it.
  10. This isn't 1999 or 2000 when the Brewers could afford to let a guy struggle for a month or more. I'm sure you can think of countless examples of contending teams letting batters play through their struggles. You may not think Weeks is worthy of being given that opportunity but it happens all the time.
  11. Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to early to start worrying about a season ending injury.
  12. I don't think Weeks is slumping because of lack of desire.
  13. If you have excel. I can send you a spreadsheet. Let me know.
  14. but those are pretty bold absolute statements to make from a Sabermetric guy. I wouldn't assume that he actually knows anything about sabermetrics, other than he likes them.
  15. Average batting line for every PA in 2006: .269 BA, .337 OBP, .432 SLG, .768 OPS That includes pitchers, backups... everything. Here's the averages by position (including backups): LINK If you want a better feel for average stats by position for starters, go to ESPN.com and look at the qualified players. Here's NL qualified SS this year, sorted by OPS: LINK
  16. That's a very interesting question but I've never seen that split. You could go to retrosheet.org and parse that data yourself, if you really wanted the answer.
  17. We all do silly things with our significant others... this poor guy just got busted... oops... Didn't he do it BECAUSE he was on the big screen?

  20. I'll take a game winning bloop any day! The sky isn't falling anymore, I trust?
  21. Why can nothing get over the wall!?
  22. Is this game even supposed to be on FSN? I'm getting the WLUM commercials and FSN isn't listing this as a broadcast game.
  23. How many starts should we expect Sheets to miss for a "distal finger strain"? One or two?
  24. "distal" means joint furthest from the palm, says my wife. Doesn't sound TOO bad.
