1. He might not have $4 mil value but he's also not worth $0, as you are suggesting. And you are looking at the value he currently has on the Brewers (6th OFer), whereas I'm talking about what value he has on the open market. Melvin knows Clark's value to other teams is greater than $0 and will do everything he can to get a fair market return. He shouldn't and won't just release him.
2. He's not being sent down because of defense in Spring Training. He's being sent down because of service time (probably mostly) and defense in the minors.
3. Is there really any difference eating his $3.8 million or keeping him around in a role that might result in less than 100 AB's? Whether you like him or not, he still has value. Melvin isn't in the habit of releasing players with value. As for Branyan, he'd still split time with graffy and probably would only start half a season anyway. The way Yost pouted about being forced to play him, I don't see him coming back, however.
4. I'd keep Turnbow right now. His value is still very low.
5. In other words, he is what I said he was: ready offensively, not ready defensively. Apparently the copious scouting reports that also said that were correct, too. Hey, I never disagreed but Braun is making an error a game, which is worse than what he did in the minors. People suggesting the scouts might be wrong had more to do with wishful thinking than anything else.
6. These errors are getting insane. He's not normally THIS bad defensively, is he?
7. A general admission ticket gets you full access to all stages accept the Marcus Amphitheater. The Ampitheater has "free" grass seats usually available on a first come, first serve basis but they generally go very quick. Tickets to Summerfest were $12 last year (or was it $15?) but they have many specials to get in at a reduced price or for free. Ticket promotions and music acts have not been announced yet. 9. I'd be interested as well but it doesn't look like many others are.
10. Start him at third. I can live with the errors. I WANT THOSE HOMERS!!! Like I said before, while it's not physically possible to hit 162 HRs in a year, it is possible to have 162 errors.
11. Can we just wait the 21 days and 1 second to bring up Braun..... that's all I ask! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
12. Anybody ever see Primer? Saw it, loved it. There's a couple problems with the plot but when the subject matter involves time travel, that's kind of inescapable. Wordplay Documentary covering a national crossword puzzle competition. I find eccentric people very interesting and majority of the contestants covered are certainly that.
13. So I wasn't just confused. Good, I feel better now. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
14. If Babel had been some random foreign film I had never heard of, perhaps I could have just taken it at face value. It was by no means bad but I just felt like I had been there before, with respect to the three stories. Even the Japanese story was a bit cliche. It was an almost great movie that was let down by an underwhelming plot. But hey, the movie is over 2 hours long and I can't say I was bored, so it it must have done something right. About Departed, I thought it was a very good movie but did I miss something or were there some pretty decent plot holes, especially towards the end. ****NOT REALLY A SPOILER BUT JUST IN CASE*** highlight text below to read..... I mean, being able to delete "records" with one click of the mouse is beyond stupid, IMO. And best guy DeCaprio could trust was a random person calling his phone? Did Marky Mark go in hiding after he took a leave of absence? Mr. 1400 SAT could probably have figured out that going to the FBI was a no brainer.
15. From what I keep hearing from Yost and Melvin, they want to win now, so they better put the better of the two out there, this being Villy. The way I see it, Vargas is pretty much a lock for the #5 spot to start off the season. If that proves to be the case, I don't think that will illustrate Yost and Melvin not wanting to win now.
16. I too agree with Robert's assessment of Babel. It was really 3, 45 minute movies spliced together.
17. Last year's vent htread long gone? it would be interesting to read it over again http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
18. Can't you just let me spend 5 minutes making flawed observations? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Since I looked it up, here's the most severe 2B/HR ratios from 2006 (min. 400 AB): F. Thomas: .28 Howard: .43 Kendall: 23 Puntos: 21
19. A strikeout results in an out 99.9% of the time, a ball in play about 70%. I know which one I prefer.
20. This is true. 2B/HR Ratio, 2006 Hall: 1.1 NL: 1.7 That's kind of weird too.
21. Will, it's just SLG - BA and I don't see anything TOO crazy about Hall's numbers. Nothing that screams outlier or anything. Obviously, it's very good but I have come to realize that Hall is a very good player, power wise.
22. I should have used PA/out, but owell: NL Starting Pitchers, 2006 TEAM Outs/BB Cin 10.2 Houston 9.8 Milwaukee 9.8 LA Dodgers 9.7 St. Louis 9.0 San Diego 9.0 Philadelphia 9.0 Arizona 8.7 Atlanta 8.6 Colorado 8.4 Washington 8.0 Florida 7.8 NY Mets 7.8 San Francisco 7.8 Pittsburgh 7.0 Chicago Cubs 6.1Bush and Sheets have silly low walk rates.
23. Yeh, I don't think the goal of a pitching staff should be zero walks. Unless you have an amazing "out" pitch like Sheets, you have to keep batters from being able to swing away with 3 balls.
24. Hall keeps proving me wrong over and over, so I make no more predictions of a downfall. XBH% is proportional to isolated power, right (basically the same thing). Here's the list of NL players with the most extra base hits: LINK Bill Hall can best Chuck Norris, so it looks good to me.
25. If the Brewers are down 1 run in the first, they are going to score less runs? That's really the theory here? What's that based on? Let me guess...
