  1. I guess if you want to learn to play the game right, but you could look at any of the players from the Brewers in the 80's. Robin Yount is in the Hall of Fame. The only way Counsell is getting to the Hall of Fame is to buy a ticket.
  2. So, if he's the best 3rd baseman in the league, then it's quite obvious he'll tear it up in AAA. Since when does he run the team, so he can dictate how long he'll be in AAA? If he's down there for 2 weeks and doesn't get a hit, is he going to come back up? Then what is the point?
  3. I think that's the point. He was put in a no-win situation, and that's what happened. There is no way that you can take a guy who isn't stretched out, and expect him to do great things! They should have said right off the bat, he's going X amount of pitches, or X amount of innings, then the next guy comes in. Or let Dillard, who is already stretched out, start and have Villy piggyback with him.
  4. The more I've thought about it, here's what I'd do for this season. Trade Hardy for young starting pitching, and call up Escobar. Trade Hoffman, and make Coffey the closer. Trade either Cam or Hart and call up Katin to play right. If anyone wants Hall or Lopez, great. Make Gamel the starting third baseman the rest of the year, and Counsell and McGehee can platoon at 2nd. That way, the young guys get their playing time and audition to see what we've got in them. That way, we can trade for pitching, pitching, pitching to bridge the gap until the young guns in A ball and lower are ready.
  5. Everyone but Braun, Prince and Yo on are the table. Make offers. If you look that pitiful against the Nats, it's bad.
  6. Anyone surprised by that outing?
  7. Rickey's speech was excellent. I could just listen to the man talk for hours. He ripped on Reggie Jackson and had Reggie bright red! Pretty funny! And at the end, I thought he was going to bring up being the greatest, as he quoted Ali, and what he said at the end was, "Today, I am very...very....very....humble." Not the Rickey braggadocio of old, but fantastic. Very humble, and grateful. Awesome! Now they've got Stan Musial playing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame". Great stuff!
  8. I caught the end of Jim Rice's HOF speech, and it seemed to me like he was reading the speech, and didn't seem all that excited. Maybe that's just who he is. Now, it's time Rickey. If he starts out saying "Today....I am the greatest", that would be awesome!
  9. If he doesn't feel like he can do anything to help the team, then give the money back, retire, or shut up. Those are the options. Well, that or play better. There's always that.
  10. For that autograph alone, in my eyes, Doug Davis has now become Brewer legend Doug Davis. That is awesome!!
  11. Answer is simple for me. World Series champs. That's my expectation. How it plays out, doesn't really matter to me. In the immortal words of Al Davis.....Just win baby.
  12. Do you remember being a Brewer fan about 10-12 years ago?

  14. Wipe away those tears, he's in the lineup today.Yeah, I sat him in my fantasy league today, because of this, not realizing that he was going to start and then hit a 2 run HR! CURSE YOU!!!
  15. If Bush ends up being out longer than expected, I could definitely see this heat up. A rotation of Yo/Bedard/Washburn/Looper/and Soup or Parra would be pretty solid. You probably end up a wash in going from Hardy (with a solid bat) to Esco (with solid defense). Plus it seems Hardy can't go more than 2 or 3 months without a nagging injury. If Seattle wants him for Bedard and Washburn straight up, I'm saying yes in a heartbeat.
  16. Better yet, they traded him for Mark Mulder. Now THAT was smart.
  17. It sounded like it. Don't know if they were booing him personally, or that he would come out with a Sox jacket on. But I was watching the Red Carpet special on MLB and they showed him in the locker room talking to the players, and he was giving Pujols and Howard crap for not doing well in the derby.
  18. I completely forgot about her! That was quite awful.
  19. I would love to see Ozzie do a backflip in that suit. Just for old times' sake.
  20. Yeah, it's gotta be drawn out, doesn't it? I don't get it. Just get to the game!
  21. Not a good start for Sheryl Edit: She went through about 3 keys in the first line of the song.
