  1. Field of Dreams, The Natural, Gladiator, Braveheart, Saving Private Ryan, and of course (every time it's on TV at Christmas) It's a Wonderful Life. My wife laughs at me for that. But I just can't help it!
  2. I'm stunned at the amount of Texas Orange at the game in Houston. Definitely an interesting matchup of size vs. speed.
  3. Yuck yuck yuck yuck yuckity yuck. That sums up what I've seen of ugly looking 3 point shots by Hughes, bad ball-handling and overall lackadaisical play. I think my TV will be taking me to the Texas game, but hopefully the Badgers wake up and start playing well.
  4. Wow. Cancer is a scary word and not a fun thing to deal with. My prayers go out to Dougie and his family.
  5. If that's the case, I'll be giggling like a school girl. I think it will probably be a bit tougher than that, but Wisconsin will win. There's some good games tonight. Stanford/Texas and Michigan State/Memphis. It will be fun to watch.
  6. The helmet had a nice, mesquite flavor to it, and it was done to a nice medium well texture (as Choate is the BBQ lefty)
  7. The wife wanted to sit on the couch tonight and snuggle and watch The Bourne Ultimatum....I said, look, the Badger game is on tonight, so there's no way.....actually, I said, well, I'd like to watch basketball....thankfully she knows how much I love the Badgers and college basketball. I'm quite interested in the Curry/Flowers matchup. That's going to be tough. One whale of a game! It's going to be fun!
  8. I went to the San Antonio Rampage/Peoria Rivermen game last night. I hadn't gone to a hockey game in a few years, and it was so much fun. Of course, the Rampage won, 4-2, but I was reminded of the things I love about hockey, the athleticism, the constant motion, and of course....the fights. There were a couple, and they were fun!
  9. It does, but it stinks that they're not doing new ones anymore. The Sklar brothers are genius!
  10. The Sklar brothers are subbing for Rome today. Funny stuff so far. I miss Cheap Seats. That was one funny show!
  11. That is probably the best comparison for Chris Webber. Was a good, solid player, but not really outstanding and wasn't a guy you would think of with the "greats". When you think of NBA hoops in the 90's, Webber's name doesn't quickly come to mind.
  12. 3 years older than you here, but I just felt that way when Brett retired. When he came to the Pack, I was 14. On the Chris Webber note, I agree with your feelings, but the one thing I learned from Chris Webber is....know how many timeouts you have at the end of the game. And, if you don't have any timeouts, you get a technical. The picture of him with the confused look on his face, ball in his hands, trapped in the corner, calling timeout is searing into my brain forever. And I go back and forth between wanting to laugh out loud and feel bad for him. He had a very good NBA career.
  13. I wanted to be a teacher since I was in 5th grade, but wanted to teach in private schools. Went to college, got my degree and taught for 1 year. Taught HS music and religion. I enjoyed it, but it's a long, strange story, but basically my contract wasn't renewed, if you will. There's more to it than that. Anyway, since then I've been a church musician, and have used my education training to good use, I think. But talk to as many teachers about it and the suggestion of volunteering in classrooms, if you can, is a great one.
  14. I forget where I had heard this, but one of the ways you can save a bit on your phone plan, if you don't want a 2 year contract, is to pay full price for the phone or something like that. The 2 year contract is what the phone company wants you to have because then, if you move out of their calling area (like I just did with US Cellular), they hit you with a $150 per phone fee....that's where they make the money. Just a suggestion.
  15. That, and much, much more makes that pic SOOOOO wrong.
  16. Tony Chaceri's seasoning. I may have spelled the last name wrong. You can get it at Wal-Mart. It's a cajun type of seasoning. Awesome stuff! We use that on any kind of meat. On steaks, we use this special seasoning that some guy named Bill made for years down here in a little town in Texas. You can only get it at the grocery store he used to own (he's dead now). My mother-in-law gets some for us, and best part is, you can only buy it in bulk. That and some pepper rubbed in on a steak....Mmmmmmm.
  17. That picture scares me. A whole lot.
  18. Way to go Rivera....he's put in his time patiently waiting to become the backup and I'm actually quite happy that Munson made it through waivers. Never know when we'll need depth.
  19. I've got a little hippy in me, so I would probably fit right in with the politics haha. I don't have any hippy anywhere close to me, so that's one of the things I didn't like about it. But, to each their own!
  20. I'm stunned by the fact that there was (or apparently was) no trade market for Vargas. No one wants this guy, so the Brewers just have to release him? I thought he might have a shot to do well this year, especially with the fact that he seemed to do well in ST. In Doug I trust, but I'm befuddled right now. Please Dougie, pull a rabbit out of your hat!
  21. Depends on how "green" you want to be. When I lived out there and we had an ice/snow storm about 4 years ago, and they didn't use salt....just sand. Everything was shut down for about a week. It sucked. Also, in the state of Oregon, it is a state law that you yourself cannot physically fill up your gas tank with gas. Thankfully, if you live in Portland, Washington state is a bridge away and you can fill up your tank. I loved the scenery and all of living out there...just not the politics and the "hippy-ness".
  22. My wife takes the regular cheap, not so great BBQ sauces and doctors them up with flavor and spices. It's amazing. She learned to do it from her mom, and her mom makes amazing BBQ as well. We came across a sauce made by the same company that makes the brisket marinade that my wife likes to use. That needed no help at all. Good flavor and spice. I don't like the sweet BBQ sauces. Give me spice and zesty flavor any time of the day.
  23. Give Ryan whatever he wants. Prince, it would be nice if he'd take it, but as long as Boras is his agent, it ain't happening.
  24. Head up to Mt. Hood, and also you have to hit the coast. Also, if you're up for it, Mt. St. Helens is about an hour and a half away from PDX. Very interesting stuff.
  25. 3 bucks? Man, if I get desperate, I'll start pulling out my own teeth! I got a quarter.
