  1. I thought they wanted to win. Follow the astros... i did a big write up about this last season as we were imploding. Astros ckear cut Ks going into last year. We were building up but to polish the weaponry that was absolutely critical. Not saying I know the exact metrics but there's a distinct line and a tipping point im certain. We are getting back under that line. I live in Houston. I watch the Astros regularly. I know all about it. The point is to cut down Ks....yes, but the ultimate goal is to win. Exactly what the Astros did.
  2. I thought they wanted to win.
  3. Come on Stearns!!! Make it happen!!!
  4. I was hoping to see someone commenting on Molina taking a pic....and maybe something about how Carpenter would explain it to his son.
  5. I guess Peralta needed those PEDs, instead of playing the classy way.
  6. That was my immediate thought as well. Scooter?
  7. One of my last memories with my grandfather. He passed away that June. We were all together for Easter, listening to the game. I was 9 and a huge baseball fan. My grandfather took my dad to Braves games, my dad took me to Brewer games. Now, living in Houston, I'm taking my girls to Astros games. But that's a date that is etched in my head. Thanks for the opportunity to share.
  8. Well, I've heard from my Cardinal fan friends....Molina did nothing wrong and neither did Cecil because the umps and the Cubs didn't have the ball, Molina's gear or anything looked at. Doesn't mean that cheating may or may not have occurred. But the "Cardinal way" is the "Cardinal way" and there shall be no argument.
  9. They did it again this weekend. They've done it the past 4 years in the dome. I went to the first one. It was ok. But I can't say I'm surprised San Antonio dragged their feet.
  10. 2017 is off to a fantastic start!!!
  11. Ken Giles had a season and a half but the Astros gave up a haul for him. Look up how that "haul" fared in Philly. That's the thing about prospects....the can't miss sometimes do miss.
  12. Yes. The FA market for starters is awful. Garza used to be goodish. I'm all for whatever gets him out of Milwaukee. I didn't want him in the first place.
  13. They did something on D that I hadn't seen for a while. They got pressure. If that keeps up, that will help immensely!
  14. Wait. You guys are upset that a guy who is not that great defensively and whose only marketable ability is that when he makes contact (not all that often), he hits the ball far? He's replaceable by just about anyone. No need to be upset.
  15. And for as awesome as the first drive offensively was, that was putrid D.
  16. Horrid defensive backs along with an average pass rush make that defense pretty brutal. The pass rush wouldn't be a major sticking point if the defensive backs could at least pretend to cover recievers for just a moment. They have no time to shed blocks most of the time. Yep. And it all starts with coaching. I'm hoping they win tonight, but Philly has a good offense. Next week, if they can't beat the Texans, Capers needs to go as soon as the game is over.
  17. Shockingly, Gruden just hit the nail on the head with the D. No pass rush, backups in secondary. One can be attributed to coaching, but the other could be coaching just as much as an excuse.
  18. Yep. That's why I quit about halfway through the third quarter. I hadn't quit on a game since the Ray Rhodes debacle. But it was that bad. Even with an absolute gift of a call on Jordy's TD, they looked out of sync on offense and D.....they had their moments. I don't know if I can watch another game. I'll have to watch the Texans, because I am a fan of them as well, but at this point, I'd have to say the Texans have to be the favorite against the Pack. And I hate saying that. But as awful as Osweiler is, he has a decent shot against that D. Jeez. I guess I have to go back to the Rhodes year and expect them to lose, which is a pleasant surprise when they win. This sucks.
  19. Om Capers needs to go.
  20. Why trade for Knile Davis, only to cut him two weeks later? And when you're extremely thin at RB??
  21. Why? I'm not trying to be snide, I'm honestly wondering what you mean. There are worse starting options out there, though I think if Gomez is to recover his value it has to be as a centerfielder. But for now I'm just happy for him that he has an every day job. If he rebounds, maybe he can find a market for him as a CFer yet in the offseason. Why? I watched him first hand here in Houston flail at pitches, corkscrew himself into the ground and out of his helmet, take horrible routes in the outfield, run bases about as bad as a little leaguer and overall be a non factor for his year here. He was loved in the clubhouse, but that was about his only saving grace. I'm actually happy he's in Arlington because hopefully that derails them. I hate the Rangers.
  22. He's going to be their everyday left fielder. Now that's funny!!!
  23. Please oh please let this happen. I have such a very morbid interest is seeing this. The amount of hypocrisy that will be in St. Louis will be too much and it will probably collapse and cause a Hypocratic Black Hole and suck the whole city in to it. How would Chris Carpenter explain it to his son??? Oh, please, dear God, this HAS to happen!! It would be perfection.
