  1. He had to go. The last two games were the cherry on the crap sundae. While it was frustrating to watch him corkscrew himself into the ground, horribly flail away at pitches.....at least he could play defense. Then Monday night happened. You could forgive his horrible routes to balls, but two plays in a row to look THAT bad? No way....well, at least he could run....until last night he forgets how many outs there were. He had to go. I didn't know if Luhnow would pull the trigger that quickly, with Rasmus on the DL. But Carlos left him no other choice.
  2. Good. For the sake of their long term relationship, and for his kids, that's a good thing.
  3. For as much as he hated his dad, that's gotta be something that doesn't sit well with him.
  4. Can't say I'm surprised. After living in San Antonio for 6 and a half years, there's a lot of hurt over the Alamodome, and the lack of use versus the cost. On top of that, the current baseball stadium was invested in recently, so there's the concern about spending money on building ANOTHER stadium. A downtown stadium would make sense and I think in the end would be a benefit, as the current stadium is west of downtown. Much of the population is to the north and northeast of downtown. From where I lived, it took me 35-45 minutes to get to the stadium, depending on traffic. Downtown would be much easier. But time will tell to see how it goes....if it goes. I'm curious to see if the move would still happen to the current stadium, even if not much comes along with the downtown stadium in a timely fashion.
  5. I would love to see it. Musgrove may start tonight because Fister's wife is supposed to have a baby. He's the real deal. Reed is going to be great. That would probably sting the most. But it gets the Astros Luc and not the Rangers, so I'm all over it. I wonder if the Brewers would want Castro or Gattis back as well. No one is going to get Reed, but if you are dealing with the Astros, you need to center deal on Martes, Musgrove, Paulino or Kyle Tucker, and then as your secondary pieces Derek Fisher is a necessity as is Albert Abreu (if you send an arm), and if you dont then ask for James Hoyt as part of that deal. And if this "lowering expectations" thing comes to be the thing that keeps the Brewers from dealing Lucroy, this all lies on Stearns. You have to play to the market and what it is willing to pay. Lucroy's value is only going to decrease after today. And he has zero value to the rebuiling Brewers right now if he is still on the team tomorrow. He needs to be listening to best offers, make a counter if you need to, and live with the consequences. It only gets worse in the offseason. Reed could go....if it was for Sale or something big. Martes would be tough to give up. I'd love to see one or both of them in the rotation now. Hoyt needs to be in the bullpen now.

But it gets the Astros Luc and not the Rangers, so I'm all over it. I wonder if the Brewers would want Castro or Gattis back as well. Oh hell no on Gattis. He can't play defense at any position and can only hit homeruns. Our front office has finally (mostly, Carter excluded) moved past their love for that type of player. He's caught and done really well at throwing runners out. I live in Houston and follow the Astros. He isn't as feast or famine as Carter, but he's definitely not a contact hitter.

  8. Because they're the best organization in baseball.
  9. The tweets back are fantastic. So what they're thinking is Luc, Jeffress and a starter for Gallo+.....if that's the case, it's gotta be Gallo plus 3-5 other top talents.
  10. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2016/2/8/10943266/texas-rangers-top-20-prospects-for-2016 I'd say 4-5 on this list would be good.
  11. Absolutely. That would be a get!!
  12. Conversations have been ongoing since the winter meetings... teams pretty much know how others value their players by now. If either side has a strong will to get it done, it'll get done. And figuring out if said player will or will not veto said trade.
  13. Beltre is too old. Have to get Mazara and Brinson with Hamels and Yu instead. That's cool too. Whatever cripples the Rangers and helps the Brewers. And, by extension, the Astros.
  14. I'd be happy with Luc to the Rangers for Hamels, Yu and Beltre.
  15. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/07/hector-olivera-dfa-padres.html Olivera will be DFA'd
  16. Ok, here's what I'm taking as the silver lining from this. Remember the first Gomez trade.....to the Mets? That didn't happen? Then when he did get traded, the return was far greater. While I really would like to have Mejia, I'm hoping for an even better return when Luc does leave.
  17. I was just reading in the MLB Trade Rumors article that SD may just DFA Olivera.
  18. Matt Kemp and Jeff Kent's child As long as he's got the 'stache, we're good to go.
  19. Who is Jeff Kemp?
  20. Quick shoutout to the Brewerfan moderators. This is bar-none the best sports message board I've ever come across on the internet - well-intentioned posters, none of the standard internet message board bullies and trolls, civil and most of all very informed baseball discussion. It's no coincidence, thanks for all you do! Ok back to nervously refreshing twitter every 12 seconds... True. I've been here for a long time and it's a great board. Mods are awesome and keep on top of it all.
  21. Lucroy to the Rangers for Gallo, Profar and their top two pitching prospects. I want the Rangers to suck for a long time to come, so gutting their system would be wonderful.
  22. It is my understanding, since the same ownership group owns the San Antonio AA team as well as Colorado Springs, that the current San Antonio team would move to Amarillo, then the Colorado Springs team moves to San Antonio. But it all hinges on San Antonio building a stadium....which is still in the talk stages.
  23. Astros. It would need to be Bregman and/or Reed, one of the top flight pitching prospects, Musgrove or Martes and few lower tier guys. I don't want to give up Bregman. But there's a ton of talent to get Sale.
