  1. Yeah. Last year was bad. He was trotted out every day until June. Sat until late August and was not as horrible. The thing was, two years ago, he got hot in late August and crushed homers regularly. Last year.....not so much. I think the Marlins may have a use for him.
  2. If only another GM is smoking whatever you are. Right now the only stealing is Garza from the Brewers. I hope he turns it around and becomes a decent pitcher next season, but right now I think the market hasn't risen from 0 for Garza. It's a better gamble for GMs to take the risk on 2 years than 7, no matter who the pitcher is. I want Garza gone yesterday. But then again, I never really wanted him in the first place.
  3. Bad news.....can't ship Garza to the Sox. Good news......there's an increased market for Garza. 2/$30 million is a steal.
  4. True, Arcia is untouchable, but I would put a few more names from AA and below as guys the Brewers are likely to not trade, either. Don't know that they're untouchable but doubt they're 'on the table', either. If I were Stearns, Arcia is the only guy I would be extremely hesitant to deal, but even if the right deal came along for Arcia, I'd consider it. On the ML level, I'd be all for getting young controllable talent. The Astros did it the right way.
  5. Lind and Garza to Boston for whatever you can get back sounds good to me.
  6. Arcia. Anyone else is on the table.
  7. Good riddance. I didn't like KRod any of the times he was in Milwaukee.
  8. You are quite welcome. Thoughts? I guess you don't think highly of Medeiros?
  9. Why target rotation help? Go young! There's no need to waste money on a LohseSuppanGarzaWolf type and limits the chances of a younger player or players. We've gone down that road before. It hasn't worked.
  10. As long as it means that aging veteran pitchers are not signed to big contracts, I'm good with that.
  11. Anyone not named Orlando Arcia is on the table. I'm listening to any and every offer. Depth, not only at the ML level, but quality depth is needed at every level. It's starting to grow, but there's a long way to go.
  12. He has 9 triples. So there is that.....
  13. I'll agree with that assessment, but my point is that the return that the brewers got is huge. Santana already looks like an everyday major league outfielder and he wasn't even the key member of the deal. Houser and Hader both pitched well in double A and could be rotation members is the future. Where would Santana fit in the Astros' outfield? Tucker has done pretty well, Marisnick has been up and down and Springer, when healthy, is really good. Add Gomey in that mix, and whether or not they choose to resign Rasmus, there wasn't a place for Santana. In the rotation, you've got Keuchel who is a stud, McHugh who has been strong, as well as McCullers who is an up and comer. They've got a bunch of young fireballers, and maybe Appel, if he can ever figure it out, but I don't know on that one. The Astros are in a place to go for it this year, and sometimes you have to gamble and hope it pays off. Living in Houston, it's pretty fun!
  14. Atlanta got so much for gattis strictly off of hype. There is no way he is worth the return he got Atlanta. Nice power, below average defense, and a mediocre batting average. I have nevet been all that impressed by him. None of the guys traded for Gattis have done much at all in the minors for Atlanta this year. Meanwhile, Gattis just hit his 26th HR last night. He's been a DH all season, and has fit in great in the clubhouse and totally worth the trade. That's the thing with prospects.....sometimes they pan out....sometimes they don't.....sometimes they take longer to pan out.
  15. well he did say that he was very involved in the gomez trade, which the early returns is not good for Houston. Gomez has not done great since he's been here, and now is hurt. Fiers has done really well. I'm pleasantly surprised at that.
  16. Yes, totally love this. The Astros have gone about it the right way, and reaping the benefits of it. I think he has a great opportunity to build the Brewers into perennial contenders. Go with young guys, give them experience, draft well and create an up and down the line mentality throughout the system.
  17. Coming on, eh? Well, the Astros gave him plenty of chances to come on. He failed. Badly. Then picked up by the Brewers. To me, it showed how much they thought of him that they didn't call him up when A Ram was traded. You have to have someone play third at AAA. That was his job. Now he's on to the next stop. And the next. And the next. Potential unrealized, yet opportunities given because he "has talent". Talent doesn't always equal success.
  18. Good riddance to a mediocre at best player.
  19. If they're playing the young guys, that's all I want to see. The winning is going to boost their confidence and give the new FO a bit more insight and direction in moving forward. I'm glad they were upfront with Garza and said that they want to see the young guys.
  20. Awww!!! I was hoping that he was going to get called up and show off how great he was and what potential he had...at least that's what many said when I talked about how awful he was....well, is. I watched him play with the Astros. He's not good.
  21. Buh-bye. It wasn't really a wise decision to sign him in the first place.
  22. Obviously their system isn't THAT system wide, or at least nobody told the players. They're out their winning games like their draft position won't be affected at all! That poor GM. How are they supposed to maintain their ranking? Umm....the point was to basically tear it down, build a system so that for YEARS they can be competitive. Guess what? They're in first place. Look at their minor league teams. All in the playoffs. Young talent, working together to build something great for years to come. That could be the Brewers. If there's commitment to building and not wasting money on the Matt Garzas and Kyle Lohses and Jeff Suppans of the world.
